Quality Time: A Flip the Frog Cartoon by Eric W. Schwartz ©1993 Well, Well, Well, here's my first animation of 1993, and its a huge mother. It Runs for over six minutes(68000 processor)Here's some stats: Minimum System: Any Amiga with 5 megs memory and two floppy drives. You do not actually need two floppies, but trying to load the animation by floppy will give you a disk swapping heart attack if you only have one drive. Reccommended System: Any Amiga with over 5 megs and a Hard Drive. * Owners of AGA and Workbench 3.0 Amigas may wish to reboot their machines in the 'Original' chipset emulation mode before running this animation for best results. Some AGA users may have difficulty running this animation (the player returns an 'out of memory' error, even when there is plenty) or the animation plays badly centered with the edges cropped (usually with a multisync monitor.) Users experiencing these problems should, if possible, close other programs that are on their own screens, Reconfigure their Workbench screen to NTSC or PAL mode with 16 colors or less, and remove any pictures used as workbench and window backdrops. These measures should fix most of the problems associated with playing Moviesetter animations. * LICENSE: This Animation is Copyright (c) 1993 Eric W. Schwartz. it is NOT to be considered Public Domain. This animation is Freely Distributable as long as the files are unaltered and kept together with this README text file. Permission from the Author must be obtained before these files can be converted to other formats, including but not limited to Video, Print, Or computer formats other than Amiga. Finally, characters created for these animations, are the sole property of Eric W. Schwartz, and should not be used in pictures and animations by others. Running the animation from Floppies: This animation comes as a four disk set, FlipDisk1: thru FlipDisk4:. To run the animation, Double-Click on the Quality_Time icon from FlipDisk1: The animation should load, asking for disks 2, 3, and 4 as you go. I recommend keeping Flipdisk1: where it is, as this will result in the least disk swapping. If you have no more than five megs memory, you may want to try booting from Flipdisk1: (Flipdisk1: should be bootable, if not, install it.) The animation should load upon booting, asking you to swap disks as mentioned above. Running the animation from the CD-ROM release: Double click on its Icon. Assuming your system is up to spec, it will load and run without any extra concern. Click the right mouse button to exit. Installing on a Hard Drive: First of all, You'll need about 3 megs of free Hard Drive space. * Installing the easy way: The Truly easy way is to have access to the CD-ROM release of the animation. You can simply copy the Quality_Time File and the movieplayer file to whatever directory you wish on your Hard Drive. A directory/file manager utility will make life easier in this aspect. If you only have access to the Four-Floppy version of the animation, there is another way to install it neatly, and somewhat easy as well. You will need to have (or have access to) Gold Disk's MovieSetter animation software. Load the animation into the program (If you only have 5 megs, you should only run the SceneEditor module and turn off the workbench before doing this.) Once the animation is loaded, resave it in 'Embed' mode to whatever directory on your hard drive you wish. This will create a 2.5 meg file containing the entire animation. You can then copy the icon files (Replacing the existing movie icon) and the MoviePlayer program from Flipdisk1: to the animation's directory. The animation should then be runnable by double-clicking on its Icon (You may have to clear as much memory as you can if you have only 5 megs.) * Installing the hard way: (If you can't find a copy of Moviesetter) Create a directory for the animation, and three subdirectories inside that. these three subdirectories should be named "Backs", "sets", and "Sounds". copy all files from flipDisk1: thru Flipdisk4: into the animation directories, making sure files from a disk's root directory go into the main animation directory, and files from the floppies' subdirectories go into the animation subdirectories of the same name("backs","sets". or "sounds"). Next, create ASSIGN commands with the CLI to direct the animation player to look to the new animation location. These can be part of a script that you execute before running the animation, or part of your machine's startup-sequence. these ASSIGN commands should be: ASSIGN FlipDisk1: {Animation directory on hard drive} ASSIGN FlipDisk2: {Animation directory on hard drive} ASSIGN FlipDisk3: {Animation directory on hard drive} ASSIGN FlipDisk4: {Animation directory on hard drive} The animation can then be run by double clicking on its icon from the hard drive, or by executing these commands from the CLI: CD {animation's path and directory} Movieplayer Quality_Time ------------------------------------------------------------------ Characters that I have created, such as Amy the Squirrel, Clarisse Cat, and Flip the Frog are Copyright © 1992 Eric W. Schwartz as well. Do not use these characters in your own works unless you are willing to accept the consequences. I might not sue you for creating a work using my characters, but then again I might, especially if I consider the work particularly vulgar (Back from the Beach) or insulting to myself or my characters. At the very least, if your mind is made up to use my characters despite my pleas, for GOD'S SAKE TRY DRAWING THEM YOURSELF! I'm more impressed by people that show skill rather than cut-and-paste abilities. This animation can be considered as shareware. Send five bucks or whatever you feel its worth to help me through college. (Addenda: I graduated college in July 1994, but I can always use a little money, so the Shareware notice still applies) I hope you enjoy this animation as much as I went through HELL making it.
