This list maybe be out of date within some days but which list is really up-to-date (ok, except the excellent emulator-faq...)? Acorn BBC --------- BBC386 v 0.0 - By Stephen Quan - BBC model B - This version is just a prototype version but made public domain to whomever may find interest in it. This version has no hardware (6845 or 6522) emulation as yet. 6502 is implemented does not emulate 6502 bugs and undocumented opcodes. COMMENTS : When I get decent keyboard and screen emulation working. BBC 6502 - This is a 6502 emulator which emulates some of the BBC Model B, OS Not by any means is it completely finished, but it does work, if only extreamly very slowly. The main limitations at the moment is no support of graphics, that is no mode 7 or any other mode graphics. Also emulations are extreamly slow, and as this one is written in Turbo Pascal, with main emphesis on debugging, it is even slower than I would like, but will recode 6502 instruction set in assembler in the near future. At the momemnt the program runs under DOS (written under MS-DOS 5.0) and also runs under Windows 3.0, BBC Baisc 86 - This file is for those of you who, like me, insist on running programs without reading the instructions. It is divided into 2 sections. The first gives brief instructions for running BBCBASIC(86). The second is a sequence of users' comments, problem reports, etc. This section will be updated as new information comes to light. You will need ROM-Images of the BBC's Basic and OS. BBC Emu 64 BeebEm - Like BBC: Basic and OS are required. Runs under Win3.1 and WinNT. XBeeb Atari ST and Atari XL/XE ------------------------ Gemulator 96 v4.6 Demo - (GEM96DEM.ZIP) - This is a full speed demo of the Gemulator 96 Atari ST emulator for Windows. This demo requires either a 486 or faster processor running on Windows 95 or Windows NT. You should also have DirectX installed to take advantage of the full screen feature. Needs a card with the TOS-Roms. PC Xformer Classic v3.6 - (GEM360.ZIP) - The free version of our Atari 800XL and Atari 130XE emulator for MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, and OS/2 Warp. PC Xformer runs Atari BASIC, Atari DOS, and most Atari 8-bit video games, applications, and utilities. Use the optional Xformer cable to connect Atari 8-bit disk drives directly to your computer. PC Xformer v3.60 - (PCXF360.ZIP) - This is a full (non-demo) release of the Atari 8-bit emulator for MS-DOS. It requires at least a 386, any VGA card, and any MS-DOS compatible operating system with 640K of memory. MagicPC (Win95) - (DEMOMAPC.EXE) A portation of MagiC to Windows95. All ST-programs that run on MagiC have no problems with MagicPC. You can also use a ROM-image of TOS1.04-2.06 with MagicPC. Rainbow 95 Demo v1.35 - A Windows 95 portation of the Macintosh program. A26 - An Atari 2600 Emulator - This emulator is written entirely in assembler (A86) and is under 22k long. This is a beta version (or release 2.0 as Microsoft would put it !) but it seems to work fairly well with the few cartridges I've tested it with. Atari 2600 Emulator-Run in DOS mode for W95 Stella 96 - One of the best VCS emulators; available for many systems. Activision Action Pack (kommerzieller Atari 2600-emulator). Virtual VCS v0.60 and Atari VCS 2600 emulator, copyright 1996 by Daniel Boris (dan.boris@coat.com) ported from X2600, copyright 1996 Alex Hornbey, released under the GNU Public Licence. PC Atari Emulator v1.5 - Tweaked VGA mode option for faster display, original executable also faster, 99-second clock in Ice Hockey fixed, sound problems fixed, DMA values 0 through 3 are now supported, source code available! Pokey - The Atari 800/800XL/5200 emulator v0.62 - Pokey is the result of alot of study of other emulator source code for various platforms. Foremost I should thank David Firth. His Atari800 emulator for the UNIX/Amiga platforms was used as a framework for Pokey. Rainbow 95 v1.3 - The New Atari 8-Bit Emulator for Windows 95 - Rainbow 95 is ported from the original Apple Mac version which appeared in August '95. Hence the debut version for Windows 95 is v1.3 which is the latest one for the Mac. Rainbow 95 will also run under Windows 3.1 with Win32s and Windows NT systems. VSS v0.60 - (Virtual Super System) - By Daniel Boris - Virtual Super System (VSS) is an Atari 5200 Super System emulator for MSDOS. VSS needs a 386 or greater processor with 1 Meg of memory and a standard VGA card to run. The emulator is still a little slow, so the faster the processor the better. On my 486DX2/66, with a frame rate of 4, the emulator will run some games at almost normal speed. Amstrad CPC ----------- CPCEMU 1.3B CPE Apple II Apple PC Apple WIN (Download!) Beta-version, but it works! C-64 ---- C64 - An oldtimer. A Hercules graphic card is required. C64Sally - An old emulator. C64 Alive - Not as good as the following two emulators. C64S v2.0b - Good emulation. Runs many games. It comes as crippleware: The demo-version only runs 10 minutes. PC64Win v2.14 - A Pentium-100 with PB cache and PCI graphics is recommended. Works under Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 3.1 with Win32s. Compatibility is about 50%. Handles games with fast loaders. PC64Dos v1.21 - English - A 486DX2-66 is recommended. Works under DOS, Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Windows NT, OS/2 Warp and Linux dosemu. Compatibility is about 85%. Doesn't run games with fast loaders. Shareware restriction: PC joysticks are not supported. Win 64 Beta .31 - A C64-emulator in development for Win95 and WinNT. Commodore Vic 20 ---------------- VIC 20 - Pauls Emulator VIC 20+ - Boris' Emulator. PC VIC - Timer controlled to run at proper Vic-20 speed on fast machines. Autodetect RAM expansion/multiple-file ROM image for easy running; Runs 8K and 16K ROM programs, and Unexpanded, 3K, 8K, 16K, 24K RAM-type programs. Save and restore system snapshot. Snapshots are compressed to save disk space. Two different screen sizes and screen panning to support Vic-20 programs that use large screen modes. Supports Vic-20 paddles, light pen and joystick. Vic-20 keyboard layout can be viewed by pressing [F8]. Hurry-up key is [F4]. Menu driven interface. Sound (PC-speaker or Adlib): Interrupt-driven sound for correct speed on all machines, but can also be set to produce sound without interrupts. Has two different. PC-speaker modes. Voices can be turned off individually. VIC 20 Emulator for DOS v1.2b - for testing the new tweaked modes I plan to use in the new version. Please download this, try it out, and email me with the results of which modes work and which don't. Thanks. Vic 2 Plus - Supports all the functions of the VIC chip registers, which includes 4-voice sound, double-height characters, screen resizing, screen movement, etc. The emulator supports most of the VIC-20 file formats available at the various ftp sites. One additional file format has been introduced which has the extension V20. The V20 files are snapshots of the emulator in a certain state. Dragon/CoCo ----------- PC-Dragon II v2.01 - Unregistered version for IBM PC (C) 1994 by PAUL BURGIN. PC-Dragon II is a Dragon 32, Dragon 64, and Tandy CoCo emulator which I wrote between June 1993 and December 1994. A more basic emulator, PC-Dragon, was also previously available. T3 - Fast Dragon- and CoCo-emulator. Requires a 386er-PC or better. The program is in development, some operations of the real Dragon aren't released yet. You will need a ROM-image (you can get it at Paul Burgin's homepage, just click on PC-Dragon II). CoCo II-emulator - MSX --- FMSX for DOS - Another version of fMSX. Virtual MSX 1.1 Beta - A quick review of it's features: Full Windows 3.1 app. Not an excuse for an application, like fMSX for Windows. Runs most MSX1 games. Tape emulation by use of wave in/out devices and .tap files . fast, because all of the emulator parts are written in 32 bit assembly and WinG. Supports MegaROMs through .ROM files (the same format as for fMSX) and binary files as the CJS emulator. Extremely cool GUI with some interesting features, like adjustable colours. Joystick emulation Emulates printer in a very nice way: it can save the printer queue as formatted text file including pictures, etc. Includes help file with a lot of info. Emulates The Game Master 2 SRAM Disk emulation for DSK files and real disk drives Includes program to save MSX ROM Cartridges. fMSX v1.5 - More stable split screen (Zanac-Ex no longer blinks). ZX Spectrum ZX Spectrum Emulator v3.66 - This emulator emulates Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K. So far there is no 128K support, but I am thinking about it (maybe later). There are also some bugs in the program, especially in emulating the R register and undocumented instructions, but almost all of the games will run. Programs using non-standart loaders are also suported. SP SpecEm JPP Z80 Warajevo X128 dos DOS The Spectrum Emulator xz80 ZX81 Timex Sinclair 1000 X-Tender v0.93 - Supports high resolution graphics. GBSIM - For Game Boy programers: This emulator can examine Game Boy games. Normal gamers should choose a different emulator. PC-Boy CP/M ---- I don't why anyone needs a CP/M-emulator for a MS-Dos-PC. Nearly all CP/M-highlights like Turbo-Pascal or Wordstar are available for PCs. 22-nice CP/M 2.2-emulator AME86 v0.71 Emulator written in 1983 & 1984! MYZ80 CP/M 2.2 and 3.0-emulator.
