You are peering down a pleasant country lane deep in the heart of Cloggieland. Artistic drystone walls frame the fields on both sides of you. To the south there is a stairway leading up to some sort of building but something seems to be blocking the path in this direction. - A field. The crisp short grass makes it pleasant walking in well kept field.(Cloggies aren't as sloppy as you thought) You stand at the top of what used to be a stairway leading up to the entrance to the building which is directly in front of you. You look out at the broken remains of the stairway which tells even the dumbest Cloggie there is no way back in this direction. You are standing at the eastern edge of the broken staircase. You are in a sort of laboratory.(yes even Cloggies experiment!) Test-tube racks adorn the walls and an experimental bench is the main feature of the room. You are at the top of an ancient tree. Its rough branches scrape harshly at your skin. The old roots creak with the strain of your unaccustomed weight. The conservatory. Or it was a sort of conservatory but it's a bit far gone now. The windows are bricked in and the light is dim, but you can see some sort of growth on the wall. The light is brighter at the eastern end of the room. The eastern end. The sunlight shines in through the window brightening up the dismal room. You stand out on the veranda. It is very narrow with no protection rail (that was blown away in the last storm) so don't go too near the edge it's dangerous! A great view of Cloggieland beyond you see a great tree to the north, northwest lies the local boozer,a small cottage, what looks like a shop, and other buildings further away you cannot see properly.. You are in a dimly lit passageway. Nothing special here but even this dull place is here for a reason! You are in the Backroom. It is very gloomy in here, but you can see a heavily barred cell and pacing up and down inside it is the most ferocious looking beast you have ever seen. It growls at the sight of you, its fangs dripping with venom. It grabs the bars and shakes them furiously, but fortunately even you can see it would never move them. Though it is a bit brighter for seeing the passageway ends here. You are perched on the lowest bough of the Gigotree. You stand in a twigged enclosure about 10 feet in diameter, suddenly you realize - it has just got to be the most enormous nest you have ever seen!Looking to the north from this perch you can see a river and a dark building of some sort in the distance. Another boring field, or is it? This field contains the tallest tree in Cloggieland, quite an amazing sight to see! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Well constructed drystone walls with easy ledges for climbing over. These wonderful old walls have stood for hundreds of years, a great testament of the clever abilities of the little Cloggies in this area! Although a boulder of immense size it does look as though it has been moved recently. Just a crowbar. - - An ancient and gnarled tree. a pair of strong gloves A glassful of effervescent liquid, it has a strange but not unpleasant aroma. A handy rasp. - - A large panoramic window overlooking a small veranda. It has an opening handle high up, far too high for a mere Cloggie to reach. But then again, you are no mere Cloggie are you? It is a very heavy and well made cabinet. You can't see it right in the dark corner but further investigation reveals that it is on castors. It covers a large part of the western wall. It borders the veranda and looks a bit unsafe, better not go too near. Just a lever. The door is not locked. - A hugh cloth cap woven specially on a super Power Loom in the Cloggie Mill and made just for you. It has a magical content enabling you to contain many of your goodies whether or not you wear it. A large hank of denim thrums - A very strong denim rope, very well made (well it had to be hadn't it - you made it!). It is a Y-shaped twig, quite strong. With a little imagination and alteration could it be used as a weapon? - - The fruit of the Gigo Tree. It holds certain magical qualities. A rough gnarled bough. The abode of the Gigo Bird, largest predator in Cloggieland. Press me if you dare. - - a handy little garden trowel. A rich deep mossy growth all over the wall. a seedpod from the moss plant. The seeds will not fail with the tail. a rich thriving mossy growth. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - a strong pair of very sharp scissors. - - - - - Bet tha's never seen a tree this big 'afore! - - - - - A silver wand. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A large hyperdermic syringe. It is still useable. - - - - - - - - - - A cask full of gold coins. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CONGRATULATIONS! here is your prize, a caskful of gold coins. If you like my ideas and wish to complete the adventure please write to Mr H.Dixon 62 Windsor Street Colne Lancs BB8 9LD sending £3 and I will send you a copy of the full version plus the solution in a sealed envelope. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Proudly flexing your adaptable Cloggie muscles you throw your weight against the boulder, and indeed your tremendous strength does move it, but only slightly. Even old ClothCap himself couldn't shift this one unaided - better look for a crowbar. With a great heave you manage to move the boulder which rolls over to reveal a rickety stairway leading up to the building. The boulder is top heavy and begins to topple and roll back, so you dash quickly past and up the stairway. Just as you reach the top stair the boulder crashes back into position tearing a hugh lump out of the bottom stair in its path. There is a sudden rending sound as the whole stairway shatters in a cloud of dust before your very eyes as you stagger away to the safety of the landing. - Taking a firm grip you swiftly climb to the top of the tree. Blast!!! You snag a large splinter in your hand, and pulling it out with a curse that would make even a Cloggie's head turn, you change your mind about climbing the tree. Sampling contents of an unknown substance is a dodgy business and you as a responsible Cloggie should know better. But of course we can't tell you 'owt can we? You swallow it all down! It has quite a kick and you grasp and smash the glass in your surprise but all you feel afterward is a strange sensation in your legs and thighs which soon wears off. Preparing to jump you feel a familiar tingle in your legs and you soar up into the air! Praise the Great Power Loom!! You grab the handle briefly and the window swings open! Summoning your mighty Cloggie muscles you make a great leap, but unfortunately miss the handle by a foot! Not even Michael Barrimore in Bionic Platform Clogs could reach that handle!! By the Great Cloth Cap in the Sky - do you really think it's so easy? You are going to have to lubricate the works and jump to the right conclusion in this matter or else!! You pull the lever and at first nothing happens, but then that dreadful imp appears and grins, "Worra daft place to purra' lever in'it, but tha' knows I 'ad ter pur'rit sumweer!" He gives a loud cackle and promptly disappears. You hear a sudden CLICK, and the ground trembles between your feet. You stagger back in shock as the vibrations shake the lever loose and it tumbles out of sight. Once more you flex the famous Cloggie muscles (never learn will you?) and once more you fail to get the desired effect. In other words, it won't budge! Well I'll throw my cloth cap up in the air - at last we gain access! The cabinet moves to one side and reveals an entrance to a passageway. You open the door okay but then that damned imp appears again with a big pair of scissors. SNIP SNIP - Blimey, he's slashed your braces, what a blasted pest. Your pants drop exposing your yellow polka-dot underpants and he roars with laughter, then disappears. Okay, that's better but you'll have to find something to secure them or you won't get far! You see something on the floor. You pull a thick strand off the thrums and secure your pants with it. Great - now we can get back into action! - You plait the denim into a fine rope - Clever Cloggie! You jump down from the tree, and just in time too my friend, for there is a loud CRACK as the roots of the old tree break under the strain of your weight. The poor old thing goes tumbling down out of sight! You see an ancient tree, its roots have all but been exposed in the upheaval. It leans awkwardly over the edge, the branches seem to beckon you. Is there something hanging up there on a branch? Cloggies have very powerful hearing, and for a moment you think you hear a flapping sound. It seems to come from an extreme north-eastern direction. Your ears didn't deceive you, the noise is louder now. Suddenly a great bird appears and scoops you up with its mighty talons and soars off in a northernly direction. You loose your senses for the moment in shock! You can see that the powerful bough of the Gigo Tree would indeed support your weight but then again, looking at those vicious spikes and gnarls jutting out at various angles it would be wiser to leave alone. Gazing up at the awesome sight of this fantastic tree, the very thought of trying to climb it shatters your nerves and you change your mind. You tie the rope to the bough and drop it down. You now have a route to the ground you clever Cloggie! Tensing those famous Cloggie muscles you give a sharp hard tug and free the rope from the tree. You now have the rope. You see a rope dangling from the lowest bough of the tree. - The handle is far too high for a shorthouse like you to reach it but then again, I could be wrong.... But suddenly a familiar impish figure appears and with a loud shriek he produces a wand and the bars magically disappear You soon hear a growling sound which develops into a mighty roar as the ferocious ogre comes charging straight at you...Even the wearing the Golden Clogs and Ye Olde Cloth Cap for the utmost protection, and using those famous Cloggie muscles to the full one could never overcome such a foe....... At the side of the cabinet that you couldn't see before is a little button. You press the button and in the distance you hear a sudden groan of dismay from some dastardly denizen. There is a sudden bright flash and something lands at your feet. A silly thing to do really, digging moss, but then Cloggies get up to allsorts, and this time it pays. You find something, but lose your trowel down a nick in the wall. Really!! at least when I dig, I use some sort of tool! You scrabble away uselessly for a few moments to no avail. Persistant aren't you? but it's too early for close inspection yet. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It is too dark to see properly but light shines in through a small hole in the roof to your right. There is a vague dark shape on your left. - - - - - - - - - - - After only a brief search you find something in the righthand corner of the cupboard. A grating voice out of nowhere says "Now't gets past yer does it? Good job too, 'cos if y'adn't spotted this y'edda bin in a reyt fix!" - - - - - - - It's too dark here, tha' can't see what tha't doin' reyt - - - - - - You are doing okay but you aren't ready for that yet. - - - - - - - - - - - You put the gigofruit on the plate and bull looks up and snorts in defiance. You back away and he comes up and eats the fruit. A strange transformation comes over him and now he appears quite placid, fawning up to you. Taking advantage of this turn of events you lead him out of the canyon and back down the road to the little lady's cottage. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - p3+Have fun and Good Adventuring! the of a an some walk run room hut - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - You now have the You've dropped the You're now wearing the You've removed the Okay wiseguy, where is it then?
