Pelman III - this time it's fruit! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are instructions in the game, but I repeat the basics of the game here in case you need them. The level editor is explained later on in this document. The idea of the game is simple: match fruit. In each level, there is a game board. This contains various objects, plus fruit (bananas, apples, oranges and tomatoes). When fruit of the same type meet each other, they disappear in a cloud of smoke. You must annihilate all of the fruit in each level in this manner to move to the next level. You must move the fruit around the board by clicking on them with the right mouse button, then clicking where you want them to move with the left mouse button. Fruit cannot move onto blocks or fruit of different types. Apples move one square diagonally each move. Oranges move one square up, down, left or right each move. Tomatoes move two squares up, down, left or right, jumping over the middle square (therefore they can jump over other fruit, holes, blocks, etc.) Bananas move two squares up, down, left or right, but if they bump into an object they will only move one square. The other objects you might see on the game board are as follows:- Blocks (raised squares on the game board): stop the fruit from moving in that direction. Transporters (contain a letter "T"): teleport the fruit to another transporter. Arrows: slide the fruit in the direction of the arrow. Ice (shiny blue blocks): slide the fruit in the direction it has just been travelling. Food processors (a circle next to a rectangle): transforms one type of fruit into another. This is vital on most levels. Apples turn into Bananas. Bananas turn into Tomatoes. Tomatoes turn into Oranges. Oranges turn into Apples. Holes (either round holes or empty spaces in the game board): Fruit fall down these. If you lose a fruit this way, you will have to start the level again. The bottom of the screen is laid out in the following way:- . Level Title THE LEVEL EDITOR ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The bottom of the level-editor screen is laid out in the following way:- Level Title () NOTE: Passwords are generated automatically by the game from the level data. Place blocks by pressing the left mouse button. Erase blocks by pressing the right mouse button. You can press "h" to get a list of keypresses for the level editor. Here is a summary of the most useful ones:- KEY FUNCTION t Place/remove tomato o Place/remove orange a Place/remove apple b Place/remove banana 0 Place pathway 1 Place block 2 Place "round" hole 3,4,5,6 Place ^,>,v,< arrow, respectively 7 Place ice 8 Place transporter 9 Place food-processor <,> Change current function in a cyclic manner n Change level title m Change maximum number of moves x Change level number alt-s Save level alt-l Load new level alt-c Clear level to current selected block alt-shift-c Clear level to blank alt-shift-q Return to main menu (very important key!) Fruit may be placed anywhere, but please be sensible about it!! Remember that when saving levels, the filename "P3LEV_" indicates only the ORDER in which the levels are played (ie. P3LEV_7 will be played before P3LEV_32). It is the number set by "x" which is displayed as the level number during the game. If the filename is not of the form "P3LEV_" then the game will not recognise it. MISCELLANEOUS STUFF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This game and document is copyright © DII 1996. NOTE2: Pelman IIIb (in this distribution) is capable of loading the old uncompressed levels from Pelman IIIa. The food-processor bug has also been fixed. The game can now deal with a maximum of 50 levels at once. 16 levels are supplied in this distribution (the old Pelman IIIa levels plus 6 new ones.) Remember that levels from Pelman IIIa AND Pelman IIIb can be loaded into DII's Imagine Object Generator and converted into Imagine objects. Greetings to Dimensions Digital Communication in Zandvoort!
