Hello & welcome to the first in a series of the all new FUBAR disks! If your reading this it must mean that you've come across the RED DWARF QUIZTANIARE Disk! Congratulations, this also means that you are the proud owner of a new thing that I've invented (mainly 'coz I'm bored!) called the Chat Wiv Jazz. It's sort of like an author's note at the back of books, but this time it's on a disk. First of all let me point out that this disk is freely distributle by any PD company that think's that it will do well, or even by any that just want to put it in there collection. I don't mind as long as people get the game! As you may have gathered I (Jazz) wrote the game for a group called FUBAR. Now then some of you may have seen other FUBAR disks by me in the past, just one word of advice, don't spread them! I don't want them spread apart from the Hungry Eyes collection of PD Games. The demo collections were all lame and the utility collections often had at least one utility that needed a library that wasn't on the disk. The only decent utility disk I did was when I wasn't in a group and released it under JAZZ. As for the demo's get rid of them too they were crap as well! From Now That's What I Call Rippin to the Fubar Do Sex collection, burn them, sacrifice them to your gods, do anything with them you want, just forget them, I don't like them, there old & creaky. The 'Fubar Do Sex' demo wasn't by me, but I loaded it the other day, and boy did I regret it! Sorry Doobs, if your reading this, it was good at the time, but you want to look at it now! The Madonna Sex Demo Slideshow was alright, but what with all the stuff going round about computer porn you may be best rid of it now (for the record I don't keep my own stuff apart from this Game and some of the Hungry Eyes PD Games collections!) (I found Fubar Do Sex in one of my friends PD collections). However anything dated after Febuary #95 you can keep! Most of the older stuff won't work on an A1200 anyway. Foosh leant me back all the disks that I have created so that I could update them to A1200 and I just didn't bother. I had a good laugh though, watching all the Now Thats What I Call Rippin Disks Load up! Especially the one by The Undertaker, I think that was the secound one, it must be back in 1991 anyway coz he sold his computer a couple of years back! The 5th Rippin Disk wasn't bad though, it was a lot more polished than the rest of them, but still laughable. Anyway back in #93 I decided that Fubar was going to die! I managed to get the group off the ground, started loads of stuff, decent stuff to, got loads of members and then I just couldn't be bothered! I admit it, I got what I wanted a proper group and then let it die! Kelvin left, Big Louie Left (I think I never heard back from him) Playboy disappeared after Foosh & Me had a slight tiff and he got paranoid and thought it was over him. The Undertaker as I mentioned sold his computer, so did Maverick. Orb nicked Foosh's disks and was never heard from again. And that left us with 2 member's FOOSH & JAZZ (Me!!) We tried to carry on, many of the projects were doomed, none of us could be bothered, our attitude was, IF IT DOESNT WORK FIRST TIME FORGET IT! Then Foosh started getting into Rave music, and going to clubs, and me being into Rock decided against this and carried on starting projects and never finishing them, until I came across an issue of AMIGA FORMAT (If your reading this, great mag guys) which had AMOS Pro purched on the front. I uncompacted this and started fiddling about, and found it really easy to code, especially after reading most of the Help file and loading in some demos & games that were coded in AMOS. Fair enough, I thought and then set about trying to code a demo, WHOOPPSS! Big mistake! Have you ever tried to code a demo in Amos WITHOUT prior Amos experience? Well I did and found it incredibly difficult, so I started to write a utility for use as a phone book (Black Book) and found that once you got used to it Amos was actually quite good. Then I found out that one of my other friend's had just bought a computer with the old version of AMOS so I bought it off him for the manual and also the compiler. Then a miracle happened I ACTUALLY FINISHED A NEW PROJECT! There it was Black Book from Fubar Uk (I dropped the Uk for this and all future products by the way!) I gave it out to a couple of my friends who all said they were impressed, so I beefed it up with some decent GFX (anyone who has seen by previous attempts will no how crap I can actually be) and gave it to my friend who swap's with someone on a buletin board so that it could be spread all over, I still don't know how far it got, but it doesn't matter I'd learnt a lot, and so started to iorn out a few creaks in the Black Book and add a few more options! Then I realised that the same format of file handling could be used to hold more than just phone numbers and names, and started work on the FUBAR PURSUITS (some of you may have seen the 50 question version floating about) then one of my other friends (Ste K (who also play tested this)) got a CD Drive and got hold of some of the 17-Bit Cd's that you can buy. Being A Demo Collecter I unpacked a few of them, and was looking through the list when I came across "Red Dwarf Trivia Quiz". Being an avid Red Dwarf watcher I unpacked this and reset by computer and booted this up straight away! This turned out to be yet another mistake, a big one! It booted up with a crappy scroll that jerked it's way up the screen while poor samples bumbled their way through the main theme OH DEAR! Just so you know this version was coded by MR. PAUL HUCKSTEPP, while I'm very sure he was happy with his version, I wasn't! Don't get me wrong I respect that he sat down, took time coding it but I didn't like it. After examaning the disk I found that this was written in AMOS! I can do better than that I thought! And Two Months later I think I have, sure most of the code was written for FUBAR PURSUITS, but who cares? This version doesn't have a time limit for answering questions. Samples that last 6 secounds while only having four secounds to identify them. Questions that you can only answer if you have sat there and watched seasons 1 - 5 in one straight run. No this version has everything, nice easy to follow questions, no time limit and a Hiscore table that allows you to type in your name and not have to delete all your answers that have been stored in your keyboard buffer (CLEAR KEY, Mr. Huckstepp). Some of the questions are hard, I admit it, but most of them have the answer's located in other question's. OK so my sampling isn't exactly amazing (I've just got a job that pay's mega bucks so I've bought a few toys for my computer 4Meg, 425MB Hard Drive, Sound Sampler and am thinking of buying a scanner) but at least you can tell who is supposed to be talking! Jesus, I've just noticed you much waffling on I've being doing, time flys when you've just found something to do after a solid two month's re-writing code! Well I think I've just about bored you for long enough now, so I'd better say good-bye and farewell. Who know's what else I'll dream up while I'm doing them, there all started apart from the slideshow which shouldn't be to difficult so will probably get done first! The reason I didn't include more questions is because I have already typed 250 in (off my head by the way, then answers were checked) and if I find a way to improve the program then I'll have to think up some more for the secound part, so I've get another 100 questions sat on my hard drive already and waiting, they may get sent out on another of the above disks or as part of 'It's Cold Outside' I really haven't decided anway 250 questions should keep you going for a bit, the game only ask's 100 in one game! By the way, I am only sending this disk out to 17-Bit Software because I think that there the best PD library going but any other library's don't be offended you can still sell the game, it's just that 17-Bit have being round for longer than I can remember so I stick with what I know! If you've got this game from someone other than them, then it must be doing good! Anway good luck with playing the game, look out for the programmer's mode which I left in (not on purpose I deleted the wrong file and couldn't be bothered doing it again, it's the same game it's just the programmers mode isn't in the other one!) which tell's you all the answer's.
