This game was written using Blitz 2, Dpaint IV, and Scribble! It was written in 1994-95 by me, Gareth Robinson. For other details see the "Info.doc" in the "Stuff" drawer. RIGHT THEN, WHAT'S THE PLOT? ============================ Plot? Wot plot? Sorry, no plot here. OKAY, HOW ABOUT THE GAME? ========================= That's better. This is basically yur average Dynablaster homage/clone/ripoff. Your PRIMARY OBJECTIVE (ooh) is to blow up the other players, until you are the single sole solitary only survivor. SO HOW DO WE DO THAT THEN? ========================== When "Play Game" is selected, a maze will appear with the selected number of players in their repective corners. By moving the players and pressing fire, bombs are dropped. After a certain period of time, these explode destroying the walls, therefore giving the player more space to run around in, and also POWER-UPS! (Hurrah!). The match ends when only one player remains with no bombs on the screen. That player will then get a POINT! HANG ON, BEFORE WE GET INTERESTING HOW DO WE MOVE THE PLAYERS? ============================================================== What? Oh the controls. Sorry. The controls are as follows. | Up Down Left Right Fire --------------------+---------------------------------------- Player 1 (Red) | Joystick 1 Player 2 (Blue) | Joystick 2 Player 3 (Yellow) | Q A W E L-Amiga Player 4 (Green) | 7 4 8 9 0 Player 4 * A600 * | P ; [ ] R-Amiga NOTE: Player 4's keys are on the numeric keypad, unless the A6## option is selected (see later) Also pressing during a match will quit the match. AND THESE POWERUPS. ARE THEY BIG NASTY GREASY HAIRY POWERUPS? ============================================================= Not quite... The powerups are (from top to bottom): BOMB - This increases the maximum amount of bombs that you can drop. The max you can have is seven bombs. PLUS - This increases the length of your explosions. BOOTS - This speeds you up (Very useful) HEART - This makes you invunerable to one (note: ONE) explosion. GHOST - Allows you to walk through walls! THING - Normally, an explosion will stop when it hits a wall. This power-up allows explosions to pass through walls. PILL - This gives extra speed, seven bombs, and full-length explosions. NOTE: You can only have either the THING or the PILL, but not both. ANY HALF DECENT GAME NEEDS A BUNG LOAD OF OPTIONS, SO WHAT HAVE YOU GOT? ======================================================================== When the game first loads, a menu will appear. The options are as follows. SCORES - Pressing this will reset the scores. PLAYERS - Pressing this will increase/decrease the number of players for the next match. It will not affect the scores. CONTROLS - This changes Player 4's. Initially player 4's keys are on the numeric keypad. Selecting A600 changes the keys. (see earlier section) TIMER - If it is turned on, it will add a time bar to the top of the screen. This will start to decrease when only two players remain on screen. If it reaches zero, the match will end, and a draw will be called. BADDIES - Baddies are annoying. They walk through walls and kill you. This option allows you to turn them on/off LEVEL - Ah, an interesting option. So interesting in fact, that it requires a separate scetion. (see later) PLAY GAME - Starts a game with the current amount of players. QUIT - Quits the game and returns the player to Workbench. NOW THEN, THIS LEVEL OPTION SOUNDS INTERESTING... ================================================= And indeed it is."Level" allows you to load new shapes files. When you select this option, a cursor will appear. At this point type in the name of a level file, or just press enter if you don't know one. If the file exists, the new graphics will be loaded. Currently there are files called : plain, water, grave, garden, jedi . This option is here as it will also allow you to load your own graphic files (see the ShapeEd drawer for details) NOTE: slight bug here. If when you press fire the cursor flashes and disappears, press any key on the keyboard and it should then work fine. ANY OTHER BUGS THEN? EH? WELL? ANSWER ME ! =========================================== Erm.. Its possible that occasionally when bombs go off, a wall will not be destroyed properly and so will start to flash. Erm.. However, as far as the computer is concerned, the wall has blown up, and so you can walk through it. Also, the game can slow down at points on an A500/600. Note: the game will end if anything happens which would have caused it to crash. RIGHT, LETS GO PLAY THE GAME THEN ================================= Hurrah!
