************************* * DRAGON SIMULATOR V1.0 * * By Michael J. Wilson * ************************* INTRODUCTION: Dragon "Simulator" is a flight sim with a differance. It uses scaled bitmapped 32-colour graphics, much like Wing Commander. It is basically a one to one duel between two dragons, one computer controlled. There are 20 levels, and with each your opponent becomes faster and more manuverable. This is the cut-down 100k version, so there are no samples appart from the AMOS ones. The end-game sequence is now a static colour cycling screen, instead of a full morph anim. For the full version and source code write to the adress below. MJW `94 THE PLOT: You don`t need a plot too do you? Yes? Oh well then... The evil wizard Mangoth has ruled the black forest for centuries. This has caused great suffering for those who dwell on the edge of the woods. You were sent to kill him. Unfortunately, you were caught and turned into one of his dragon-slaves. Luckily you escaped and managed to burn him to a crisp. His loyal dragons want revenge, and intend to kill you before going on to burn your village, eating any survivors. If you can escape by killing all his dragon-followers, you will regain your human form. The village will be saved and good will rule. (Or something like that anyway. Now for the game.) PLAY: Dragon loads from workbench or CLI. It immediatly disables the system, but you can quit at any time by pressing Control^C. After loading and decompacting press fire to play (unless you want to watch the scrolly). Basic aircraft controls apply - i.e up=dive, down=climb, left/right= bank. Fire causes you to belch a ball of flame. The action is veiwed from a first-person 3D perspective. At the top of the screen the current level is shown, followed by your score at your health level (out of 100). Hits from the enemy will reduce this, turning the background red. If it hits 0, you are dead, full stop. Luckily your energy is replenished every level. INFORMATION: Dragon Sim. was written on an A1200 over new year 1993/4. The code was written in Amos (original) version 1.3 - the version given away by Amiga Format. The game was originally written for the Amiga Format coverdisk competiton, but ended up too big and is now sharware. The full version is included on thes ource code disk (5 pounds, see below). This game will run on all Amigas (well, at least those that AMOS runs on), but may jerk a little on 8mhz machines. This version is the compiled one, but the full version is included on the source code disk, along with the full versions and source code of the other games on this disk. ADRESS: For the full version+source code, send 5 pounds and an S.A.E to: 115 Nash Grove Lane, Finchampstead, Berkshire. RG11 4HG NOTES: 1. You can`t fire when climbing or diving (you`d singe your own muzzle!) so it`s not your fire button! 2. You automatically level out at maximum/minimum altitude, so if you can`t climb/dive then you are too low/high. 3. 75 percent of the Dragon file is graphics/sound data. It took 3 mins to compile in Amos Compiler (1.0) and has been compacted from 221K to 115K. CREDITS+FUTURE: Please send in your 5 pounds, or their won`t be one. Dragon Sim 3 is coming, and once AMOS PRO AGA comes out (and if you all send off for the full versions of these games) maybe I will be able to write some decent AGA games and more A500 compatible compilations.
