INSTRUCTIONS ```````````````````````` Because this game is far more advanced than Ant Wars 1 , I`ve had to re-do the whole interface to the game . These instructions tell you what the different buttons do . Read on ... N.B The best way to use these instructions is to load the game , play until you find something you don`t understand and press A + Left Amiga key to jump back to workbench , where you can look it up here ! Pressing A + Left Amiga Key will bring you back to where you left off. If you don`t have much memory this could cause the game to crash ! Alternativly , if you have a printer , these text files are ASCII so you could print them out with any print program ! controls : Player 1 - Cursor keys = Up/Down/Left/Right SPACE = Fire Player 2 - Joystick = Up/Down/Left/Right Fire button = Fire The mouse is used in the pre-game selection but not in the game . If you have difficulties getting the program to work , it`s probably because you`re low on memory . Try running the game without sound effects or music to get a few more Kilobytes , and close any extra programs which might be running . If you still have problems , contact me with a detailed description of your problem and I`ll see what I can do . *** This game will only run from Df0:(the internal drive) ! *** The Selection screen is pretty simple to figure out ; There are 5 working levels of the 10 available , these are Level numbers 1-4 and the Random level ( In case you get sick of the other 4 ) . The rest of the levels will only work in the registered version . The Credits bar limits the amount of vehicles each player can buy in the Armoury . It probably looks useless at first , but if you limit your credits the armoury screen takes on a very tactical element . In this version of the game only 2 of the vehicles can be selected in the armoury , therefore only 2 can be used in the game ! Subscribe and you get the other three ! ( Hint , hint .. ) *** In General *** The screen is split into 2 halves , with player one on the left , player 2 on the right . The 2 green bars in the middle represent the lives each base has left . The objective of the game is still to blow up the other chaps base , but this time each player has 5 lives . ( note : Plane bullets and Anti Aircraft bullets do not damage the bases ! ) *** Control *** The control system might seem a bit daunting at first , but spend a little time getting used to it and it will soon become second nature ! When the game starts , you are in SELECT mode , and a red arrow should appear above each players nest . Pushing down will bring you to the deploy screen ... - Deploy - Move Left / Right to select Ant / Vehicle Press Fire to deploy your choice. You will now automatically be put in control of your deployed vehicle / ant . Pushing up while in select mode brings you to SCROLL mode ... - Scroll - Move Left / Right to select direction of scroll Press Fire to scroll Push down to go back into Select mode ... - Select - If you have anything deployed , you select it by moving Left / Right until the icon for that vehicle / ant appears and a red arrow appears just above it . Move down to go into the CONTROL mode for it . - Control - From control mode , press up to get back to select mode . *** Ants - *** All the original options are available plus a few more . Select which you want to do by using up / down / left / right and press fire. The bridges build themselves ( you no longer sacrifice an ant ) in the direction the ant is facing . Use mining by pressing fire on the button , then moving in a direction . Upwards mining is now possible ! Bazookas ! - The bazooka interface is one I`m very proud of . On the left are four buttons . Use these to alter angle / force . An arc at the bottom shows the path of your shot . Once you have the direction set up , move onto the bomb you wish to use . These are ; Heat : Explodes with no crater ( unlimited ) Nuke : Self destruct ( useful in close proximity ) Hi-Explosive : Explodes leaving a crater ( 5 per ant ) Guided : Once launched , left / right steers this missile . ( 5 per ant ) Pressing fire again cause the missile to self destruct in mid air . * Helis - ( Not available this version ! ) Slightly different from the original . The move button must be clicked first to move the heli . Press fire again to access the buttons to collect / drop your ants . To stop controlling your heli either ; (a) Fly it off the side of the screen and press fire . ( Goes back into your stock of vehicles ) (b) Crash it into something ! ( They explode now , use them as kamakazis ! ) *** Planes - *** These are probably the most fun , great for dogfights and such . Once a plane has been launched it can`t land again so use them wisely ( conversely , kill them wisely ! Crash `em into your opponents base if you can . ) Left / Right alters the path of your plane , fire shoots a bullet . * Tanks - ( Not available this version ! ) Up to five tanks may be out at a time . The left / right buttons move the tank when you press fire on them . The Shoot button brings up a requestor similar to the ant bazooka one . There are 2 extra types of missile available with tanks ; Anti Aircraft - A stream of bullets which you can steer using Left / Right . These have a massive range ( press fire again to blow them up in mid air . ) Cluster - Drops 3 bombs half way half way along it`s flight path . These are great for "blanketing" an area . There is a limit of 5 hi-ex bombs and 5 cluster bombs to each tank . * Bikes - ( Not available this version ! ) Only one bike may be deployed at a time . These vehicles are very manouverable , which gives them the advantage over the other vehicles and ants . Anyway , the control is practically identical to the tanks , except they use the same bombs as the ants . *** Jeeps - *** These can carry up to 5 ants at a time , but only one can be out at a time . Use the UP / DOWN buttons to pick up / drop the nearest ant . The left and right buttons move the jeep . *** About Ant Wars II **** I tried to make all the different types of vehicles have certain pros and cons to them to add depth to the gameplay and I think I fairly well succeeded . For example the bikes are great because they can travel practically anywhere , but only one can be out at a time . Tanks are less manouverable , but up to five can be out at a time and the Anti Aircraft gun is a killer against planes , much more effective than the bike`s guided missile . I think this game`s playability is roughly a billion times that of the original ( myself and my friends would be playtesting to remove a bug and we`d end up playing for hours ! With the last game I had to playtest it myself ! ) , a lot of this is down to the simultaneous playing . It made the programming dead hard but it was worth it ! I honestly hope you enjoy playing this demo , but for 5 and a bit quid , the full version is certainly good value for money ! If you can subscribe , please do !
