A new Magazine and Book on the Shelves And News on a lecture and conference this coming week. [×] Having just returned from a month in the USA and Austrailia (hence the delay of UFO Calls..) I found the the UFO world is still going there after the infamous Roswell Autopsy footage, just as we where 3 months ago. The respecting TV Coverage in these countries was big rating successors, indeed in the USA the Fox show was such a hit, that it achieved the best ratings ever for the Channel in its time slot. It led to a rapid repeat to the TV/Movie Dramatisation of the Roswell Story. Which also faired well. Indeed so big has this story become, that art is about to imitate life. In an innocent ironic remark US cover-up researcher Barry Greenwood, like'end the media hype of the autopsy footage to the business practices of the fictional aliens, "The Forengies" in the TV Series, Star Trek. Now there is news that Star Trek is to feature an upcoming episode in its Deep Space 9 series in which the 3 resident Forengies find themselves transported in time to the year 1947 and end up in the New Mexico town of Roswell, where.. well, you can probably guess the rest! Also on the TV Front, Sky has announced that it will air Series 3 of "The X-Files", currently appearing on US Television. They say transmissions will begin in March, this series began with a 2 part episode, tying up the cliffhanger from the past series, and will also mention Roswell, and scoring record ratings, even for this hit show in America. Another US series set to come to UK, probably on Sky next year is "Strange Look", an intruieged (its late!) fortean drama, which focuses on a mount of wierd synchronesities (she does it on purpose..) keeps happening, causing unusual events that rub off on all the people he encounters. (?) Over here, the ITV show "Strange But True" has ended its run with a UFO special last week. The ratings for this will be known next week, but allthough the series has not maintained its 12 million viewers from last year, it is set to top the 1o million mark. No decision has yet been made to wether a third series is to be commisioned, but LWT are hopefull. They do have a new series of Paranormal discussion programs, hosted by stage hypnotist Paul McKenna, which airs just after Christmas. [×] Encounters magazine issue 2, cover date is December is now on Sale in most major newsagents. Allthough there is less UFO material than in issue one, with other paranormal phenomana featuring this time as well. There are several articles covering close encounters and abductions, and there is also a free 96 page book, Peter Hough and I especially wrote this for the magazine, and its a year by year survey of ufo-ology's first half centurys cases. Even though encounters is still rather superficial in appearence and cant spell my name right, with 3 different versions in this issue, you might like to take a look at this new, colour glossy magazine, which is bringing the UFO subject to tens of thousands of new readers, and certainly has potential. Encounters retails at 2.99 *uk pounds!* which includes the free book. [×] The Society for for physical research has asked me to point out a change in there lecture program. Writer "Ian Wilson" has moved unexpectedly to Austrailia. And so the planned lecture for this week has unevitibly been canceled. His replacement is certainly of interest. Ralph Noise will present a paper entitled "Hougherd's Old Hag" (?), refering to Canadian researcher David Hougherds" program into investigating nocturnal abduction phenomona, which seems to build a bridge between various paranormal events, including alien contact claims. The lecture is on Thursday the 16th of November, at 6:35pm, at the Kensington Central Library lecture theartre in London. A one day Conference is also to be held at Bournmouth University this week. The full day event on Saturday the 18th of November, features Lionel Bier, Peter Hough, Lynn Picknet, Clive Prince and Dave Kingston, and will discuss UFO's and Crop Circles, amongst other events.
