So there is no point writing to him with suggestions for a new version! :) Anyhow, on with the instructions etc....... AMFC Professional supports PowerPacked (PP20) & LH (SFCD) files. The Powerpacker.library and lh.library are included on this disk which are included with full permission of the copyright owners. The AMFCPro program uses the Powerpacker.library V35.256 or the LH.library V1.8. If you do not wish to read crunched files then the libraries will not be needed but it is wise to keep them in the libs directory. AMFCPro has been written in assembly language using Devpac. 3: Disclaimer As this program has now been released as Freeware, neither the distributers nor the author will be held responsible for any loss or damage caused by the software on this disk. To our knowledge this disk contains NO Viruses and NO errors other than the ones stated in the documents, by loading/running AMFC you are agreeing to accept and abide by this statement. Please note: You cannot assume that when you have converted a piece of music from one format to another that it will work or sound perfect on first playback. You must remember that different music editors work completely different to each other. In most cases you will have to finetune samples or do some transposing of tracks and instruments. AMFCPro does the hard work but it cannot make miracles. 4: Hard Disk Installation The key files of AMFC Professional are: AMFCPro (© RBF Software & Brian Thom) Libs/powerpacker.library (© Nico Francois) Libs/Lh.library (© Holger P. Krekel & Olaf Barthel) In the examples drawer you will find the following:: Flight.md1.pp (an OctaMED module by Brian Thom) OctaMEDPlayer V4.01 - Public Domain player for the OctaMED modules. 4.1: Copying files using CLI If your hard disk is dh0: then you could type the following in a CLI window. The sentences in brackets should not be typed as they just explain to you what each statement does: Makedir dh0:AMFC (make directory for AMFCPro) Copy AMFCPro:AMFC.info dh0: (give the directory an icon) Copy AMFCPro:AMFCPro#? dh0:AMFC/ (copy AMFCPro and its icon file) Copy AMFCPro:Libs/powerpacker.library dh0:libs/ (copy powerpacker.library) Copy AMFCPro:Libs/lh..library dh0:libs/ (copy lh.library) 4.2: Copying files using Workbench To copy AMFCPro to your hard disk from workbench you can just drag the AMFCPro icon into the hard disk window. If you want AMFCPro to lie within a directory `AMFC' then you should drag the AMFC icon to your hard disk window (`AMFC' is an empty directory). Click on the newly created AMFC icon to open the directory window and then just drag the AMFCPro icon into the window. This copies AMFCPro but it does not copy powerpacker.library and it does not copy LH.library. To copy powerpacker.library and lh.library to your libs directory you must first reset your computer and boot-up from your hard disk (so that LIBS: is assigned to your hard disk's LIBS directory) and load workbench. Insert the AMFCPro disk and double-click on its icon, double-click on the icon for `Copy-PP_&_lh.libraries' (the icon reads `Copy to LIBS:'). A window will appear and ask if you are sure - if you want to install the libraries type `YES' then the return key. 5: AMFCPro This version will read and process the following formats: Old Sound Trackers (15 instruments) modules/songs/packed songs Newer Sound/Noise/Pro Trackers modules/songs/packed songs Sound Tracker 2.6 modules/songs. StarTrekker modules or songs etc. Oktalyzer modules SMUS files (including Sonix scores) Octamed (MMD0's and MMD1's) IFF Samples Sonix (.ss) files After reading one of the above formats AMFCPro can convert the file to any of the above formats (excluding Sonix .ss files). See section 6.2 in the How To Use file for more details.
