OctaMED MIDI/Sample Music

The tracks in  this  directory  are  backing  tracks  for  the  CD  "Out of
Abfinoosty  Come  The  Storm",   by   Asif   Ali   from   the   Rock   Band
"Abbfinoosty",  on Cyclops Records  available  from  all  good record shops
from June/July 1996.

I originally wrote these backing tracks on  an  Amiga 500+ upgraded to 3 Mb
of RAM and beefed-up with an additional 68020 CPU Accelerator...

When you load  up  one  of  these  tracks  you'll  notice  that  they sound
incomplete, that's because they are so  here's why.. After I've synced them
up to tape I lay down the Vocal, Guitar and live Drum and Percussion tracks
with the rest of the band.  The  sequenced  sounds I use are assorted Amiga
samples, manipulated with OctaMed and  TechnoSound,  and MIDI sounds from a
Kawai K1m and a Roland TR626  drum  machine,  although I don't actually use
the TR626 when recording master tapes because  it sounds like wet bare feet
running round a warm indoor swimming pool, hmm.. (maybe I'll have to sample
that!)  Anyway, these files represent  my  Demo  versions which are used in
the studio recording process simply as guides  for  the rest of the band to
reproduce the Bass and drums  etc.   The  Synth instruments and Samples are
used in separate tracks in the mix.  The Music-X/MIDI convertions enable me
to obtain full MIDI specs with controllers, fades and pitch bend etc with a
MIDI sequencer in the recording studio..

The programs I use for sequencing are OctaMED V5.01 & V6 and between them I
have some very powerful music creation  tools,  although thanks to Kevan R.
Craft who has converted the files for  me  you can access my files in other
formats including OctaMED  Sound  Studio  MMD2  MIDI  MODS,  Music-X sample
conversions  and Music-X MIDI Performance files as well as General MIDI SMF
Standard MIDI Files so you should be able to have fun with them.. These can
all be found  on  the  MIDICraft  "MIDI  NET"  CD-ROM  to  be  published in
June/July 1996
