I've been asked several times what my favourite game of all time is.
When deciding upon my favourite game of all time, I had to think about what would make it a great game. Graphics weren't actually that important, and nor was sound. Gameplay was, however, incredibly important. I had to pick a game that was addictive, the kind of game that stole hours out of your schedule without you realising it; a game that was original; a game that kept me coming back to it time after time.
Worms: The Directors Cut fulfills all of these criteria. Also, it does have great sound (with a fantastic Bjorne Lynn soundtrack) and nice graphics (after all, it was improved to take advantage of the AGA chipset). I love this game. It is addictive and original and I do keep coming back to it time after time after time.
Some people might argue that it doesn't offer many improvements over the original game. I would disagree. The graphics are better, there are more gameplay options, and the are far more ways to alter and customise the game. With the original Worms you could draw your own levels in eight colours. With Worms: DC you have 16 colours to mess around with, and although it may not sound like much the difference these eight extra available colours makes is phenomenal. And you're not limited to merely drawing levels. You can create landscape templates for the computer to construct random levels out of. There's a Graffiti mode which will turn your scribbles into levels. You can create mountains to be shown in the level backgrounds. You can even use your own sample sets so that when Worms die they quote lines from your favourite films or television programs.
It is this aspect of Worms: DC that the Worms DC Universe is aimed towards. I have created many levels for Worms: DC, and many landscapes. This webpage is here to provide a source of downloadable landscapes and custom levels. I also hope in the future to introduce cheats and information about Worms: DC, and maybe some other types of files such as samples sets and mountains.
I hope other Worms: DC users will find this page useful. If you do, please feel free to e-mail me
By the by, the picture on the main page of the Worms DC Universe is based on several characters from the DC Comics Universe. When I thought of the title for this page that picture just seemed logical. I hope the bods at DC don't mind: think less of it as plaguarism, and more of it as a loving homage...
Thanks.
