In this part of the site you can find details of the characters who appear in the strip. At the moment, this section only contains descriptions of Joe and Ami themselves, but as the strip progresses I'll be adding more and more characters, and so this section will grow alongside the cast-list.
Joe works as an underwriter for an insurance company, a job which he doesn't consider extremely exciting, but at least it pays the rent. He is in his mid-twenties. He enjoys computing, music, films and socialising, and he considers himself to a casual football fan; not the sort to actually travel to matches, but quite happy to watch highlights on Match Of The Day. He likes the comedy of Eddie Izzard and the music of The Clint Boon Experience. He has been known to use a PC, but only as part of his job, and with extreme reluctance.
From the very first, Ami was intelligent. Over the years he has developed a cynical sense of humour and a neat line in sarcasm. Although he reliant upon Joe for a lot, he stands up for himself well. He is personally appalled by the behavior of intelligent machines depicted on television or in films, and if he had his way would give Skynet and The Matrix a good talking to. He has no plans to take over the world; he is quite satisfied with his lot, which involves talking to Joe, playing games, and plotting ways to kill Bill Gates.
