Softer. One of the reasons I don't post much here now is because there is
hardly any off-topic talk. I kinda think it takes the fun out of reading the
messages, so a lot of the time, I just don't bother. That said, I have been
reading it more and more lately. I can't explain why, though :) Must be a
subconcious thing :)

That's one thing I'd hate to have to read through. Trying to follow a thread
which has had it's subject changed loads of times is harder than trying to
open a door with no door-handle, and that's been glued shut :)

One thing I wish people would do, though, is quote better! Tim Seifert has
said the same thing earlier today, and he's right. Some people's method of
quoting is truly abysmal.

I was saying to Andy Mills last night that my random tagline proggy seems to
have developed intelligence somehow. On 3 occasions yesterday, it chose a
tagline relevant to the message, and there's no way it can do that because it
doesn't get to read the message :)

Remember the 'I installed Windows in 15 minutes' message? The tagline for my
reply was 'Ever notice how fast windows runs? No, neither did I'. Ok, it's
talking about running windows rather than installing it, but you get the idea
;)

  I'll second that.  Especially when your (read: my) mailer lists mails by
subject line.  I wonder what's going on sometimes ;)

  Which mail program is?  Unless your refering to sorting by subject line,
THEN by date, THEN listing the threads in order using the first mail of
each thread as a key (for a date sort)?  Mailing lists would be better off

don,t know if it still works. Most (but not all) of the mags i,ve
chucked as my mum only had room for one or the other and the mags lost
and i,m still living here oh well.

Just thought I`d throw my two pence worth on this thread. I own both an
Amiga and a PC and my Amiga is solid, it rarely if ever cocks up and needs
anything major done to get in working again. The same goes for my PC, I`ve
owned it for 9 months now and only had to reinstall Windows 98 once after
the first week, and that was because I forgot that a pc is a pc and not an
Amiga. To be honest if Windows is left alone or to people who know what
they`re doing it should remain fairly stable, I mess with it all the time
and it hasn`t thrown a fit......yet!!!
Well there you have it, feel free to rip apart all I`ve said but I`m just
telling you from my experience of both machines which are in almost constant
daily use.

A year or so ago I was going to night school to learn C++ using a PC at night
school saving to disk and using at home on my A1200 with GG. I did manage it
all using the Shell and a good text editor like Gold Ed. C++ is the same to
learn the basic text is the same as on any machine. I found a good book 'Sams
Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days' was a good book to learn with. The one thing
you need is time to be honest you need to lock yourself away to learn it.
Just get yourself locked up for a couple of years :-) 

Thats the reason could not finish doing it as not the time to do it 100% being
married and work. If anyone is on the dole its great to start now good jobs
to be had in it if good at it.

But it was nice to put my toe in the water and get the feel for it. I might
try again soon.

  Learning a language is one thing.  Using it within an environment and
learning the machine/OS is another game altogether.

WHD and JST are actually hacks that make disk images
and patch old games to work on new hardware.  For
example, I've got Shadow of the Beast and the Lotus
trilogy installed.  They do all sorts of things, like
removing copy protection, so no more manual searching,
cheats, level selects, and the like.

UK Aminet has been dead for ages now. Just go for de.aminet.net.

Even if just to support Amiga, and get OS3.6 and 4.0 on the way, it's worth
it. You get better HD support, built in newicons/ glowicons, WarpUp
support, and a whole load of other jazz. In addition, newer software is
bound to start requiring it soon.

15-40 kHz, 45 - 100 Hz. But many abusers seem to push it to about 45 kHz
(re Aminet's many tweaked monitor files). Dot pitch is .28 mm.
800x600@40 kHz makes about 63 -64 Hz; 44-45 kHz is then about 70 Hz.
You can count the rest yourself. Above 800x600 you must use interlaced,
but even 1600x1200 is then possible (blurry, flicky)
I used years 1024x760 interlaced @ 100Hz.

My A600 worked perfectly with an IDE 2.5" 
hard drive, but i was using Workbench  version
2.05.

I am now on OS3.5 prior to that it was WB3.1, i've
now got a 3.5" IDE in a tower along with a CDrom Drive.

I have a Microvitec 1438 (or is it 1440, dunno...) and for some strange
reason, when I use 15Khz modes the screen flickers as though someone
was placing then removing a (physical) screen filter on the screen.
The picture is good, but it is damned annoying. It never seems to
settle and there is no pattern to the flicking.
I don't know if this is a problem on the monitor side, the hardware
between my monitor and Amiga side (BMon switcher), or the Amiga side.
I think it must be the monitor as I didn't have this problem until I
bought the Microvitec s/hand about 6 months ago. Before then I used a
CBM 1950 which was O.K. (and still languishes in my cupboard even
though it still works!), but only did an average job of everything it
did.

The above problem is absent in my BVision modes. I use 16bit 800x600
usually, and don't use native modes a lot these days (the odd game, and
maybe AmiMasterGear or something).

Anyone any ideas?

As a complete lurker on the group I still get it to keep me in touch with
what`s going on in the Amiga world.  Hearing what other people are doing
with/on their Amigas keeps me from completely loosing faith.  I guess you
could say that I`m on the group for the sense of community it gives me.

It would be nice to have more news to hear about, but as someone else has
said, there isn`t any news to have.  Also, keeping threads more on topic
would be nice but it wouldn`t be a community without the random discussions
that go on.

   Ok, You /could/ upgrade your 600 to go on the internet, but you *can't=
* use anything from your PC except the harddrive and modem.  And even if =
you did you'd be limited to 16 colours on the web as well, and you'd need=
 an 020 and 3.1 roms as well (I'd think)

Personally what I'd do is get a 2nd hand A1200. They're going for rather =
little these days, and you may even get one that's already kitted out to =
use the internet :)

If you just get a plain one, you'll need a harddrive (which you have) and=
 an accellerator and memory.  You should be able to pick up an 030 accell=
erator and 16megs of ram should do nicely :)

Ooops! Forgot the date...thanks all for letting me know. Teaches me to
try setting a poll so late at night with no sleep in the previous 24hrs
(well, that`s my excuse...)

On a more serious note...what I was trying to gauge from the poll, was
whether or not there is a market for the Blizzard 603/603+ boards for
existing A1200 owners, who haven`t yet got a PPC board.

From my telephone call to Power regarding their decision not to
manufacture these boards (and don`t flood back saying it is DCE
manufacturing the boards ;) ), I was under the impression that the
reason why they were not taking up the option, was because of the high
return rates they had with the board, and the low profit margin on
sales of the board.

I believed (correct me if I am wrong, please) that the reason why there
was such a high return rate with this board was due to the power supply
problem; this being fixed by a work-around suggested by Eyetech.

I was hoping that I could get back to Power armed with enough support (
and confirmation from Alan at Eyetech regarding the power supply
problem) to, at least, make them reconsider their position. 

If people would like to express what they plan to do on the list
instead...I will collate all results and see whether there is enough
support to worry Power.

Custom install, none of the games or other stuff, just the important stuff.
Hasn't crashed once yet (been nearly a month since I did it, and the machine
is nearly always on) - unlike my miggy, tho I put that down to a lack of

You can only access another 1MB chip ram through the trapdoor of the A600 of
which the expansion is quite cheap. *But *Fast RAM has to go through the
PCMCIA slot of which the cards are about as cheap as the average NASA

roms you have no chance of the HD working because the roms don't support
it. DOH! 
 


You now have two options.

1. Upgrade the roms to KS3.1

2. The infinately preferable solution.

Pick up the A600 and sling it out of the nearest window and then get looking
in the Loot or on http://www.amibench.org for a second (or third or fourth)
hand A1200 which is much more expandable than the A600 ever could manage.
You won't regret it (except the throwing out of the window bit ignore it
keep the A600 for old games

This has already been solved the starting address' of the Apollo and the ZII
busboard are the same so the startup menu won't recognise the ZII or the
GFX card. Theres a Blizzard 1240 with SCSI on order to solve this.

Well, there's only no chance of an IDE drive working. Nobody said anything
about SCSI. :) [But then again, you still need an IDE drive, sorta, to get a
SCSI drive to work on the A600...]

When I had the old 37.299 problem and had to get the upgraded Kickstart 2.05
chip on my A600, I sold the 37.299 chip for $5 to a friend of mine who was
still on only 1.3, and he used it in his A2000 and his system worked great,
including two hard drives...

I used the Apollo 630 for about a year and it never, EVER gave me a problem,
except when I actually installed it -- the fitting is really, really
difficult. [Nowhere near as difficult as a Picasso IV in an A4000, though!]
Never overheated [its predecessor, the Apollo 620, was famous for
overheating!], never gave me incompatibility problems with older software,
and it made a world of difference in performance.

If you want to add RAM to your 600, do yourself a favor: get an Apollo 630
and add fast RAM to the accelerator rather than going the expensive PCMCIA
route. You can go up to 32MB fast RAM that way, and it won't interfere with
the PCMCIA port (despite popular belief), which you'll want for a Squirrel
or a Whippet.

As I already have a perfectly acceptable A4000, PicassoIV,  69.5 meg ram and
an 8.6 gig hard drive, I dont think I need to bother with an oversized
A1200. Ha.

Mutt certainly is. Microdot is, unless I'm very much mistaken. The
In-Reply-To: header is useful for this sort of thing, assuming that the
list server doesn't send things horribly out of order (which I haven't
noticed happening on AFB). If your mail program doesn't do it, there are
others that do :)

Do you mean each line tends to move from side to side? The same happens
with my Microvitec GPM1701 in 15kHz modes. It's fine for about a
minute, then it gradually gets worse.

As Ben points out, not all CDTVs accept 2.04 (v37.175) ROMs but most
will take 2.05 (v37.300 iirc), you can get 2.05 ROMs from an old A600,
it's a standard 16BIT Kickstart and should fit into the CDTV since it's
essentially a CD-ROM, PCMCIA I, equipped A500.  You can also upgrade
the CDTV's 68000 to a 33MHz 68020, use the Viper 520, from Power
Computing, it should work, and it comes with Kickstart 3.0!

(And 8mb of RAM and IDE interface  :) actually quite cheap as well)

Realising at the tip that it was in .gz format, I thought "Hey, I'll
just get an archiver from Aminet to deal with it!".

I downloaded three different archivers, all of which failed to either
recognize the file existed (?!?!) or unarchive anything. Anyone have
any suggestions please?

a Shell only program, if you need help, let me know and I'll walk you
through it.

When beta testing has been completed???  Please be patient - beta
testing of IB 2.2 is now in full flow, and I'm sure it won't be too
long before it is ready for release.  After all, would you rather

be worth waiting for, I can assure you :)

Year 2000 compatible means the system uses the dates properly, whether
or not it actually displays 2 or 4 digits.  As far as I am aware, all
the OSs are year 2000 compatible, with the exception of a few OS
supplied files (no idea about other software, you'll have to test that).

I've never had that problem.  In fact I've had the reverse.
Occasionally, AmigaDOS hasn't recognised a disk change, and the only to
be able to see (yourself), is if the disk has a different volume name.

Well, strictly speaking, to get the Zip to boot, it needs to have a RDB
(Rigid Disk Block) that's set to boot, and your SCSI host needs to be
bootable.  Then make sure there's a S/Startup-Sequence file in the root
of the bootable disk partition.  That's the easiest way.

However, if you can't /really/ boot from the drive.  Then make a floppy
that you can boot from, put enough system files on it to be able to do
so, then at the earliest point possible, re-assign Sys: to the Zip disk,
and execute the Zip:S/Startup-Sequence (put all other system assign
re-assigns on the Zip's Startup script, as it'll be quicker).

If you haven't worked it out from this, I'll dig out a copy of a script
I did for this type of thing on my oldest A2000).

Yes and no.  Yes it can be different from your other drives, and no, you
can't use anything other than OFS with the RAM disk.  The RAM disk is
always, and has to be, OFS.

It is possible to have good looking sites without all that crap.  I'd
much rather do without applets downloading before being able to use a
site, or it crashing.

Having said that, an example is www.gohip.com (some search engine for
MPEGs, and the like).  It downloads something to improve functionality
with their website (without you knowing what).

What it does, is make their search engine your (unchangeable) home page.
Every time you reset IE's home page to your preference, it removes your
preference.  It also removes your OE message signature, replacing it
with an advert for itself.  There is no un-install function, you have to
find what it added to your computer, and then reconfigure all sorts of
things back again.  Gawd only knows if it does anything else.

And you don't change it's position.  Just keeping the third partition 3
megs big, for example, but shuffling it along (to suit other partions),
will lose all your data in there.

There is no point formatting a drive before partitioning it, as when you
change the partitions, you will be destroying the data on the space
those partitions occupy.  You will have to format every new partition
you make.

You can however, depending on circumstances, change some partitions,
while leaving others intact.

Yes, a server does know where a visitor is coming from.  Without that
information, they couldn't send back the pages asked for.  After all,
where would they send them to?

Theoretically, given the right programming, you can make any data part
of a reactional response.  So yes, you could send an English use an
English version of the site, for example, based on their location
(though you'd really do /this/ type of thing based on the language their
browser says it supports).

I've been trying to install PFS3 on my 14Gig IDE-hd, but the partitions
refuse
to mount on startup. With FFS the same partitions mount without a
problem (well 
upto 4Gig of course). I think I've done everything as I should; I
installed PFS3 
from the CD with the installer and the latest update (3.3?). I
partitioned the 
drive with both HDToolBox (OS3.5 version) and HDInstTools several
times. Yes, I 
set the partitions to automount. I've tried both the normal and the
direct scsi 
versions of PFS3. The partitions even show up normally in the early
startup 
controls, but not in Workbench.  

The hd is connected via Buddha and I have OS3.5 installed.

Is there any way to connect a webcam to an amiga or grab images from
another camera such as a minature security one. I haven't got much

In the case some harddisk partitions are disappeared or you can not use
disk space over 4GB, your device has to be specified for NSD patch.
Please open the file "DEVS:NSDPATCH.cfg" with an editor, e.g. EditPad -
look for the corresponding device and remove the comment symbol # at
the beginning of that line.

For CYBPPC.Device you have to insert the following line:

DEVICE cybppc.device DEVICETYPE NSDEVTYPE_TRACKDISK COMMANDS 2-7,
9-15, 20-28, 33-39, 41-44, 46-49, 51-72 TD64

Save you work and reboot your Amiga. After your Amiga started again
please check if it worked by opening the Shell and enter the command:

SetPatch PatchInfo

Watch the list for your device and check if -Patch count- is bigger
than 0.

Now you should be able to completely use your harddisk.

I agree, but I'm just pointing out that the site could be given a
decent revamp, it doesn't need to have JScript, Flash etc. to make it
look good, all it needs is a more colourful design and a good use of
graphics IMHO.

Thanks to all thos ewho contributed when I announced the failure of my PPC
fan, but I've now got what I think to be a suitable replacement=2E  It cost
me =A32 from a local PC store, and came with a free heatsink, which I don't
need=2E  It's got the same area as the old fan, but it's a bit thicker=2E  =
It's
also 12v instead of 5, so hopefully this will be much better=2E

However, does anyone know how I could work out just how much better than
the old fan it is?

From Amiga web page:-

In the case some harddisk partitions are disappeared or you can not use
disk space over 4GB, your device has to be specified for NSD patch.
Please open the file "DEVS:NSDPATCH.cfg" with an editor, e.g. EditPad -
look for the corresponding device and remove the comment symbol # at
the beginning of that line.

For CYBPPC.Device you have to insert the following line:

DEVICE cybppc.device DEVICETYPE NSDEVTYPE_TRACKDISK COMMANDS 2-7,
9-15, 20-28, 33-39, 41-44, 46-49, 51-72 TD64

Save you work and reboot your Amiga. After your Amiga started again
please check if it worked by opening the Shell and enter the command:

SetPatch PatchInfo

Watch the list for your device and check if -Patch count- is bigger
than 0.

Now you should be able to completely use your harddisk.

I don't like sites that rely on you having a certain plug-in; the C5
site looks good, but it relies completely on Shockwave, making it
unbearably slow to use.

Hi,
    Well I'm not to up todate completely on OS3.5 as I use it with Dopus,
but I have noticed something in OS3.5 that is similar to Dopus that will be
causing your problem. When you install the new file system, the disk is
unformatted and so is a bad disk, in OS 3.5 and Dopus there is (I believe )
an option to hide bad disks. To get round this either turn off this option
(its in one of the new prefs I believe) or format the drives from a CLI.

Hello,

Before the MCC was dropped, I seem to remeber hearing that the Transmeta
Crusoe processor was capable of holding the Linux Kernal in the actual CPU-
making for amazing performance. I wonder if Amino will use something
similar in their system? I sure hope so. Maybe it could load into the CPU
from a flash ROM or something, to allow upgrades.

Cant say at the moment, cos my brother is fixing his little overclocking
experiment ;) gimme a month....

but yes everything was up to date. its the fact that it did it out of the

If everything else is OK, check that you've set the printer prefs within
Wordworth, since it uses it's own printing system, not the OS one. Just go
to print setup in the File menu.

There's a little technique called hacking, which will allow you to do just
that. :) You can probably even get away without a banner ad at all >:)

Freeserve doesn't use any sort of custom software. Given the method of
income that Freedomi seem to be using, it's likely that they will be.
Given that the cost of porting that to the Amiga and then providing Amiga
support is likely to be greater than the income they'd gain from Amiga
owners, it doesn't seem likely to happen.

precise).. The other half is currently in very slow labour, the midwife

HELP!

I was copying some libs across from a CD recently.  When I rebooted I
found that the window/screen system gadgets e.g. close, sizing, scroll
were corrupted!!!! How can I restore the correct images without
reinstalling WB/DOpus (booting into WB instead of DOpus the gadgets are
OK...)

That is all set up. I might sound like a novice, but I have had an
Amiga since 1993.
I had Amiga software with my last printer (Citizen ABC) so it was easy
to use. Never had to use WB drivers/software before...

Actually, I think I'm going to solve this one myself... Ordered Turbo
Print V7 from Weird Science earlier! ;-)

Just to see, I decided to get my OS3.5 CD out to copy it's old HPDJ315C
driver into my printers drawer (renamed xxxx.old).
It has had a beneficial effect in Wordworth... Strangely, if I print in
the background from WW it is O.K. with the old driver. If I print as
the top task, then it cocks up.

Anyway, it's only a stop gap measure now. When TPV7 comes I will
hopefully be fine!

After down loading over 1000 mails during the last few days [holiday
backlog] , I've been swimming round quite contentedly in this Ocean of
Despair, riding the waves and holding my head above the lapping pleas
and moans. Then disaster struck. At about 1700 hrs as the day's light
wedged it's way to the horizon, the inevitable happened.  Yes, I swam
headlong into...., yes... into a Boing Bag. I thrashed about
violently, my buoyancy seemingly gone and struggling to reach the next
mail, I sank.

Then came the flash backs.

I could see my sleek towered A1200, my colour printer, my 17 inch
monitor, my A4000 keyboard but most of all the words on the monitor's
display screamed at me. 'I'm using  OS 3.5 and BOING BAG 1'.

At this point I crashed through the surface, gasped for air, held 3
fingers skyward and slowly sank again.

Conversations from a possible future flooded my brain. 'Oh, Amiga.
Yes. What O.S. are you using these days?'. 'Well we're now on O.S
3.5, but don't worry, I'll soon be adding Boing Bag 2'.

At that point, I will break surface again but this time with only 2
fingers pointing to the cold night air. 

Oh no! Another flash...

All my elegant off-white hardware is blurring into one shape.
Cracking plastic, creeking metal, sparks flying as it all morphs
into one rectangular box. Slowly words appear on the front of
this mysterious new being.

Sorry, didn't mean to be patronising.

Actually, I have an ABC too, but one of the pins in the head has gone, so it
prints all stripey. Now I borrow a B&W HP Desket 600 (no real need for
colour now), and using WB divers, all seems to be fine.

Oh, yes.

Except I don't think NASA use Tao systems.

I was just getting used to Linux, or rather no machine at all. Still, things
have been a lot worse.   :-)

Thou shalt not use e-mail for any illegal or unethical purpose.
Thou shalt not rely on the privacy of e-mail, especially from work.
When in doubt, save thy message overnight and reread it in the light of the=

And, as I'm now finding out, the bad things about PCI MODEMs is the
manufacturers thinks Windows takes care of everything for you, so you
don't need to know anything about your MODEM, consequently you can't
configure any other software (than what they provide), to use it.

Does anybody know of any IBuM terminals programs that come close to how
Term works.  In particular a seperate chat line text entry gadget.  I've
been looking at various IBuM comms programs, and I'm amazed at how
primitive they all seem to be.  I've just got to get my A1200 networked
to it, all the IBuM mail programs are just as horrible too.

Sounds peculiar.  They have actually sent an ordinary message with the
attachments?  (I've been sent a blank mail with attachments once.)

The TV industry is held together by gaffer tape.  ;-)   I've even heard

There doesn't even appear to be an entry for eGroups in there.

Personally I do not think that web based services should be reliant on
cookies, particulary because they're designed so you can view them
anywhere (not just from the same computer).

But my problem is that it won't let me log-on no matter what I try, so
it shouldn't need a cookie already, at the log-on stage.

HTML seems to be the default setting, unless the user has bothered to

Looking at the source code for the messages I've just written you (one
in plain text, one in HTML):

The HTML message is sent twice over; the first part in quoted printable
(don't know why it did that, instead of plain text), then in HTML, then
the attachments.

The plain text message is sent as:  plain text, then the attachments.

I do notice other problems with OE:

It doesn't know about signature seperator lines, so it doesn't draw
them, or have the option to strip signatures in replies.  It needs a
separate signature for mail and news - mail you add your own dash dash
space before the signature, news it puts it in itself.

It's quoting is screwed up:  Sometimes it won't put in the quote
indicator.  And it messes it up - always doing quote space, so double
quoted text is quote space quote space text.

And I can't find any way to delete individual messages without dragging
them to the deleted items folder.  Which doesn't work at all for news,
by the way.  I can delete messages at all there, unless I delete all
read mail.

And I've only used OE a little bit.  I'm still using my Amiga for mail,
as it's nicer, and better.  I'm just using the IBuM for web pages
(admittedly mostly all the web pages that are associated with upgrading
the IBuM to try and make it work properly, grrrrr), and ICQ chat (STRICQ
is still playing catchup with Mirabilis' latest changes to their
protocol, which makes for various IBM ICQ clients out there trying to
communicate to my Amiga in different and incompatible ways from each
other).

All in all, it makes a poor example of Microsoft flagship e-mail client.
YAM does all of these (when it's not crashing), Thor does too, when you
can work out how many different things need configuring and where the
hell you set the options up in (it really needs a unified general
preferences GUI).

Where can I buy Some good lists for a cheap price?

Hi There...

I've been trying out the LZX patches that were uploaded to Aminet,
and it seems that they don't solve the problem.  The LZX list command
is fixed, but if I archive anything after 01.01.2000, then upon
dearchiving it simply gets it's date/time set to the date/time that
it's dearchived, as opposed to it's original value.  Anything before
this date still works fine, so it seems as if a little more work is
needed to rectify the problem.  I haven't had a chance to see if the
patches for LHA work yet.

I'm having no problems after using LZX121r_pch.lha.  It sounds as
though you're using the -E option, maybe indirectly?

I'm using OE 4.5 for Mac. It places the seperator in the sigs, but sometimes
misses out the space (that might be operator error).
But no, it won't strip them.

On the Mac, there's 'Delete' in the 'Edit' menu, or I can press Command-D on
the keyboard. Ctrl-D on the PC? I can move up and down the message list with
the cursors and press Enter to read them. This way, I don't need the mouse.

I don't think Microvitec monitors 'hold on' to the incoming signal very
well. My 1440 picture occasionally slowly creeps to the right hand side of
the screen over a period of several minutes, then jumps back to the normal
position. Then again, it is getting a bit old.  :/

Lists of email addresses? In order to send "Targetted advertising" (Or

Sorry for the rather large subject heading I couldn't really think of anything
suitable.

Problem:-

If I use the Paloma TV add-on on an 8bit screen 1024x768 in a window no probs, the
window can be resized with hardly any loss of quality super, but if on a 15, 16 or
24bit screen the window opens OK, displays OK, but resizing it (i.e make it smaller) then
the pixels become distorted/fuzzy.

Now, I'm using a 15" AST Vision 5L (not brilliant) monitor, if I change horizontal
and vertical scan freq from the current 48hz,60hz *to* 58hz,70hz when I open the Paloma
window (on a15, 16 or 24bit screen) the pixels are always distorted/fuzzy no-matter what the size of the window is (works fine in full screen and in 8bit).

Why won't the Paloma display ok on a screen above 8bit when the windows is resized
and what is the advantage of having higher vertical/horiz frequencies.

This effect seems to happen with AGA screens only. On OCS/ECS and
graphics boards this does not happen.

Solution: load the button graphics with a graphics program or Multiview
and save them.

I've had a Marryampic cardset included on a previous AFCD. But here's why
I'm worried: the cardset was based around a load of cartoons such as the
Simpsons and South Park. I used the South Park themetune as a

Trust me. Unless they didn't recognise bands like the Verve, Radiohead and
Oasis they'd have no problem working out that the contents of my cardset
were copyrighted!

As I mentioned above, I already had one cardset distributed on an AFCD, but
the samples I used were downloaded from the internet, and therefore in
general distribution anyway. Perhaps that's why AF had no problem with it.

I haven't sampled any full songs, just little clips from each. Plus they're
in mono (If you try to use a stereo sample Marryampic decides to play it
twice!) so noone in their right minds would think of these as a substitute
for the full song. I've noticed that a few websites have clips of bands;
once again, only enough to give you a taster of the band. I know this is a
dodgy thing to do, but that's all I've done - I've sampled enough to make
the song recognisable, but nothing more.

Whether or not AF use the cardset, I'll still go ahead and complete it.
Several of the Marryampic cardsets do the same as mine. I know that it's
illegal, strictly speaking. What I'm wondering is if it's too illegal for
AF.

Have you got FastIPrefs setup to run instead of IPrefs of OS3.5?
If you do change it, since without the new IPrefs, reaction based
progs do not work properly.

(I found out from experience). The only drawback I have is that
FastIPrefs used to delay the WB opening until the backdrop picture had
loaded - which was nice since I use TolleUrh which has a transparent
option which used to work great - until I installed OS3.5. Now I have
to move it after the backdrop is loaded so it looks nice - at least
until SimpleClock for OS3.5 gets a second hand ;)

Actually, I now have problems disconnecting. I dont crash, its just
the modem doesn't hang up anymore, and I have to physically turn it
off - even though according to genesis it has disconnected.

So, no crashes, but a problem disconnecting none-the-less. I'm sure I
didn't suffer problems pre bb1.

I also have problems booting oocasionally though too - with a software
failure starting DF0 (guru 80000003 - odd address read) which is both
strange and annoying.

Pity SASG haven't updated the site or registration program with the
new details.  They must lose a lot of registrations this way. I

The problem was made better by updating the version of the PalomaTV software, but not all together.

Blittersoft have the Paloma TV  module* instock*, so if you want one I should look sharp!!
VERY!. I think that production of the ParaGlide is still going ahead.

Hey! thats got me thinking... I take it Tornado3D has started shipping. I've had mine
on back order or over 4/5 (can't remember it's that long) months now!. Everytime I ring 
Blittersoft they say their still waiting for supplies.

Is this true are are they waiting until they have enough pre-orders.
