Hello everyone, and welcome to my latest set of contributions for the Gallery section of Amiga Format's most excellent CD. I've included five pictures for your artistic delectation: Ghost - Right, I wanted to deal with this one first. Some people, upon seeing this, might argue that it could have been knocked up in five minutes. It wasn't Ghost took me the best part of an hour to produce. It's true, I could have knocked up a similar picture in five minutes if I wanted to approach it as something to use as filler. I didn't; I approached the picture as an artist, and created the picture as such. Ghost was created by subtley layering progressively darker areas of grey over one another. The hardest part of creating this picture was actually deciding where to place the grey shapes. The end result is deceptively simple, and I'm very pleased with it. FlyOnTheWater - This is another version of my Alf Fly logo. It was created, once again, using Candy Factory Professional. It was actually created using a Candy Factory project that can be found on the cover-cd of a rival Amiga mag (mentioning no names :) Wetmetal - Another of my many logo designs. This one is based on a simplified Chinese ideogram. I have no idea what the ideogram this was based on actually translates as; no doubt it's something rude. Wetmetalmdp - This is a design I created for use on my Website. However, having created this I realised that this wouldn't fit in with the kind of site I wanted to create. However, here it is anyway. The logo is an amalgamation of the letters MDP, which stand for Mr Dog Productions. Yes. FlyOnTheWater, Wetmetal and Wetmetalmdp were all produced with Candy Factory Pro. When one of mr previous contributions, the original Alf Fly logo, was printed in the Gallery pages of Amiga Format, whoever wrote the page (Ben probably, although the page is uncredited) asked for any future CFP designs to be bigger. Well, I'd love to. However, I can't seem to get Candy Factory to use any masks that I create in hi-res or hi-res laced. It only seems to work with lo-res masks. I'll try and find out why, and have another go. Skater - Now, this is the picture that I'm really proud of. I don't mind saying that I've been working on this, in fits and spurts, for about ten months. Skater continues my love-affair with comics (hopefully this was evident in some of my previous contributions to the Gallery). It was created exclusively in PPaint 6.4 and PPaint 7. I started out with the idea that I wanted to create a page from a comic strip, although I didn't know about what. I started scribbling in PPaint and came up with the basic rough outline of the skater from the main panel. "Hmm," I thought, "that gives me an idea!" The rest is history. The main panel doesn't look quite as busy as I might have liked - I would have prefferred to have had some more traffic buzzing by in the background. However, I can get round that by saying that it's night-time, so there's not much traffic on the roads. And I realise, in retrospect, that the blurring on the final panel isn't right; it should be blurred in the opposite direction (if you see what I mean) to give the proper sense of speed. Still, problems aside it looks alright, IMHO. I like it, anyway. By the by, this picture is too large for my TV, and overscans in a strange way.
