Starting much better than Eat The Whistle, Samba has some really nice intro pictures and nice music. This game is actually, very unlike Eat The Whistle as you are supposed to manage the team at the same time. This is all very well (and is done very nicely) but I don't want to play at managing.
When you finally get into the game you are dropped from a good feeling the intro gave you about the game and you suddenly see that you now hate the game! The graphics are the worst I have seen in a football game on the Amiga! The side panels advertise Amiga but they haven't been scaled and remapped properly, the sprites have had very basic colouring effects done on them, what you see of the crowd looks like an attack of the vomiting vegetables and to top it of the controls are rubbish! The only thing I can say is good is that the action of the sprite are near on perfect, its just a shame they look so bad.
This game also has a commentary on CD, but it is typically foreign. Even though the bloke gets the emotions in his voice right, (and actually says the right stuff at the right time!) he does not speak correct English, he says things like " ...and here we are expected an excitement match!". As to what an 'excitement match' is I do not know.
Overall this game has been rushed. It has the potential of being so much more but nobody seems to show any signs of updating it. I think that for £20 this game is useless. If you really need the management part of it then play Sensible World Of Soccer, old but much better (and pretty cheap!)
