Magic ASL is a replacement for the standard Amiga file requester. As many other apps, it requires MUI and is available from Aminet in Util/libs. It will also use Lamp.mcc (for the green "led" - see images below), if installed.
Magic ASL is easier to use over the Amiga original as a) It's much larger & if you have a lot of files in one dir., less scrolling is required. B) it displays the available devices/volumes to the right, C) It also has a "Right Mouse Button" function similar to IBrowse & VoyagerNG that allows you to make a new drawer, go up and delete a drawer and to hide or show icons.
Installation is easy, it's just a case of clicking on the install icon, rebooting & hey presto, it's done. However, it does modify the startup-sequence and as safety measure, always make a back up whenever you or an install script wants to modify it. You can also install it by hand if you prefer...
The line in the startup-sequence for Magic ASL needs to go after C:Setpatch. I found that after installing it in this position, my system would not boot. I have a 4 way buffered interface with IDEfix97 & found that placing the line for Magic ASL after the IDEfix line cured the problem.

So far, has been a reliable replacement that has made my Amiga even nicer to use 8/10
