The ScriptMaker

The ScriptMaker's main function is to save a script + Icon to your Quake (/Scripts) Directory, so that you can simply start Quake without using shell commands. These commands can be switch on/off using the ScriptMaker's GUI Interface:

GUI

The ScriptMaker can use all Quake related shell commands plus some extra commands.

ScriptMaker Functions

1. CheckMarks
General to switch on or off a command.

2. Memory etc. Sizes
Use the + - next to the number-gadget to change your desired values. Remember to set the hook at the checkmark to enable the values.

3. Dedicated Server etc.
Just the same like 2., but occurs other commands.

4. Other Device + Select Unit
If you have a CD Rom connected to a device-driver which are not scsi.device, atapi.device or cd.device you should enable this command + CD Unit! To set the device-driver click onto the PopUp-Button next right to the stringgadget and choose your driver from your DEVS: directory if available as file. If not, like 2ndscsi.device, 1230scsi.device of other you have to enter that per hand.
Use the PopUp Button next to the "Unit "-output to choose through 0 to 6 if neccessary.

5. Exec .cfg
If you want to execute an other .cfg file at the startup without using shell commands you should use this. Use the PopUp Button to select the .cfg from your ID1 Directory.

6. Play Demo
Anytime I start Quake it fucks me up playing everytime the same demos... so if you want to play another demo, use this command. (or delete quake.rc in ID1 if PAKs are uncompressed)

7. Record Demo
Wanna automatically play a map and record it at startup? So, use this function. You can enter you command directly to the stringgadget, but note it must have THIS FORMAT: 'name' 'map' 'cd track' ! Remember to include the "spaces", otherwise it won't work.

8. Start MAP
Just select your desired custom MAP (in ID1/MAPS/#?.BSP) via stringgadget or use the FileRequester.

9. Add Game Dir
Another important function. QuakeManager automatically scans your Quake-Directory for installed .PAKs and other Game-Directories, if QuakeManager is correctly installed. The installed Directories are being displayed in this Cycle-Gadget. Note: QuakeManager SCANS your QuakeDirectory THE FIRST TIME YOU START QUAKEMANAGER and saved this settings automatically. If you installed some custom maps or GameDirs, you must press the button REFRESH , otherwise you cannot access your new maps etc. with the ScriptMaker. The more you have installed, the longer QuakeManager needs to scan it. But it almost does not takes a lot time! (say some seconds).
Tip: use the PakMan to unpack .PAK-Files! Only if you want, ootherwise refer to .readme's shipped with .PAK-Files if necessary.

10. Add Game - Use MAP
If your selected Game/AddOn is a normal directory and contents one or maps, you can simply use the PopUp Button to select the map.

11. Add Game - Play Demo
Most AddOns starts with a demo, so if not a .PAK-File you can choose a different one if available.

12. Add Game - Exec .cfg
Some AddOns needs a different config shipped with them, if necessary and available choose them!

13. Command
Wanna use (a) command/s which are not supported by the ScriptMaker? Just enter yourself, but you have to know about what you're doing.

14. Choose Icon
The same function like in Preferences. Both sets the default NewIcon you want to use.

15. Script Name
Enter HERE your name for the script saved to disk! Note: Don't enter text which the AmigaOS cannot handle, like HD0: or such shit... you know what I mean!

16. Script Dir
ScriptMaker will create the start-script in this directory + copies the defaulticon. (I prefer Quake/Scripts). Dont overload you Quake-Dir with unneccessary scripts! ;=)

17. Quit
What ya think?

18. Save Script
Saves your named script to disk with the active settings!

19. Default
Resets checkmarks to "switched off" position and clears gadgets to default settings.

20. Refresh
ReScans your complete Quake Directory for installed maps, configs, demos etc. See 9. Add Game Dir

21. Save Sets
Saves your actual settings. ScriptMaker does not load those sets at startup, only starts with default sets if activated. I add this function only to remember what I've done at the last script-save!

22. Load Sets
Loads your last saved settings.

Preferences

The Preferences sets your default settings containing the Quake-Directory, your Script-Save Directory, and your default Script-NewIcon.

Functions + Screenshots

1. Your Quake Dir
This is need to correctly save a script with the right commands! Simply enter your COMPLETE directory of your Quake Directory (...path/to/Quake preferred: QuakeDir:). QuakeManager would not work correctly if this is NOT set correct!

2. Your Quake Engine
Specify here your Quake executable located in the above directory. (i.e. Quake or Quake060 or other! :) ). The Script would not work correctly if the executable does not exist.

3. Save Scripts to
Default path is: ...your/quakedirectory/Scripts You may set another directory, but I prefer the default setting!

4. Default Icon-Dir
Specify here your Icon-Directory for your Script-Icons. Main is QManager:Icons, you may choose an other directory as default, but the selected icon/s must exist there, otherwise the ScriptMaker creates some false data.

5. Default NewIcon
Default path is: ...your/directory/to/QManager/Icons/ THAT's default! It's the easiest to handle it. You may simply add some more icons to that directory. (drag them in or copy from third party icon-sets)

6. Choose Graphics
You can cycle here through 3 depths, depending to your WB resolution. QuakeManager loads the gfx of the specified depth. 24bit = TrueColor/HiColor WB's, 8bit = TrueColor/HiColor/AGA, 5bit = AGA/MWB Shit
