    Thanks to Datatypes, an app can load files (eg. pictures), without
knowing the type of the file. It can load GIF, JPEG or PNG pictures
without specific code.

    But few (old) commercial apps use this feature which comes with Workbench 3.0.

    It's the purpose goal of HappyDT: HappyDT acts just like a filter between
programms and loaded files . When an app tries to load a file of an unknown type,
HappyDT converts it in a temporary IFF file using datatypes. In this way, the app acts
just as if it loaded an IFF file. More, HappyDT can intercept the saving process of an app.
and so change the format of the saved file.
    In addition, if the file is packed, HappyDT can unpack it with Xpk or Xfd.
    Currently, HappyDT support Picture, Sound and Anim datatypes kinds.

    With version 2, HappyDT is now a Shareware.
    The unregistered version is really usable: no requester, no limited
time. Only new features of version 2 are disabled (datatypes
filter, sound & anim datatypes and save support). But all features of next
versions will be reserved to registered users.
    All registered users of version 1 are registered for version 2 and future
(you should have received your key by email, if not contact-me!).
    At the release date of V2.0, email registration is closed.

NEWS FROM VERSION 3: Task tracking is now available in the unregistered version. 

    
    If you want to register, you must send 100FF to the author.

Hardware: no minimale Configuration (but don't expect any miracle with
a JPEG picture on a 68000 at 7Mhz !!!)

HappyDT include two versions: one for 68000 and one for 68020 and more.
Actually, datatypes make the main part of the work, so i'll not make more
specific processor binairies.

	It's possible to install the commodity and the prefs programm in the same
directory.

If you haven't got the Installer from Commodore, you can install by hand:

HappyDT is a commodity.
It may be run by the shell or by the Workbench.
You can stop it with a Ctrl-C or by Exchange.
If, with Exchange, you disabled HappyDT, the patch is removed.

If you use the Button "Show Interface" of Exchange, you have access to a
little window with the following button:

@{b}Flush@{ub}: Delete all HappyDT temp. files (see @{"Delete Temp Files" link "Edit" 0})
@{b}Hide@{ub} : Hide this window
@{b}Quit@{ub} : Quit HappyDT
@{b}Prefs@{ub}: Run the @{"preference" link "Prefs" 0} programm

The list, on the first window, show applications which might use HappyDT.
If you want to add a new apps, use the @{"Add" link "Edit" 0} button.
To edit an application's preference, double-click on its name or select it
and use the @{"Edit" link "Edit" 0} button.
To remove an application's preference, select it and use the Remove button.

You can choose, in the "Temp:" field, where HappyDT should write temp files.
Choose a directory on your hard-drive if you have few RAM.

@{b}Save@{ub}  : save the prefs on disk.
@{b}Use@{ub}   : Use the new prefs.
@{b}Cancel@{ub}: Quit and abandon the changes.

Note: You don't have to reload HappyDT if you change prefs, HappyDT will be
automaticaly notified and will reload prefs.

The Edit window let's you choose prefs specific to one application.

In the field @{b}Programme Name@{ub}, write the name of the apps.
In the field @{b}Task Name@{ub}, write the name of the task of the app that
loads the picture (use the @{b}Identify Task@{ub} button for that). 

You can use patterns (#?) in the task name in case of a "multitasks" apps.

Use it to find the task name an app.
To use it, HappyDT must be running.
	- Click on the Identify task button.
	- Run the app.
	- Load the file Ram:HDTTARGET with the app just as if you loaded a file.
	- That's All! The field "Task Name" is now ok.

@{b}Info Window@{ub}
If you check this option, HappyDT will show an information window during
the conversion.

@{b}Enable Xpk@{ub}
If you check this option, HappyDT will try to unpack the loaded file.

@{b}Delete Temp Files@{ub}
If you check this option, HappyDT will delete the temp. conversion file
just after the programm load it. With some applications, you shouldn't check
this option since Dpaint, for example, load a picture two times:
one for getting image size and one for getting the picture itself.
If you check this option with this kind of application, the file will be
loaded and converted two times! If you don't check, HappyDT keep a track of
the last loaded file and will not convert it a second times.

@{b}Save Requester@{ub}
If you check this option, HappyDT will bring up a requester each time the
application try to save a file so you can choose a different file format.

WARNING! The requester will show all datatypes matching the saved file type.
That don't means that you can use any datatypes of the choice: Not all
datatypes have an encoder in the local format. You've no way to know that
before a try...

@{b}Exclude List.@{ub}
Many apps can load, internally,  other types than IFF. Take, for instance, a
programm which can load IFF and GIF pictures. If you use HappyDT on this
programm because it can't handle any other type, you can add the GIF type in
the exclude list. So, HappyDT won't handle GIF picture and let the programm
do the work: you may not loose time and memory.

Add a type in the list: click on the Add button and select the type to
exclude.

You can specify if the apps load pictures, sounds, animations or all this type.
