This is a colour printer driver for the 400 series of the Epson Stylus Colour printers. It should also work with the older Stylus 500. Important Note -------------- According to the brochure, the 400 is 'Designed exclusively for Windows using Epson printer driver technology'. I have used ESC/P2 commands to drive this printer but may not work in some cases or give unexpected results. No details of emulation modes are listed. Until Epson release further information, I cannot continue development of this driver. TurboPrint 7 does support the 400 and you may achieve better results using that system Features -------- Colour: CMYK (Colour AND Black) Resolution: 180 to 1440 dpi (using Microdot). Supports Microweave in Letter Quality mode. Aspect: Portrait and Landscape Output: B&W and Colour Text, B&W, greyscale and colour graphics Optimised for Speed Compiled with SAS C 6.58 Now includes version for 68000 and 68020. Densities --------- 0 180 x 180 1 180 x 180 2 360 x 360 3 360 x 360 4 360 x 360 5 720 x 720 6 720 x 720 7 720 x 720 Paper: 10in for most sizes, 14in for US LEGAL Recommend densities 0-4 for Word Processing output. Supported Printers ------------------ Epson Stylus II, 500. 400, 440. Installation ------------ Use the Install_Driver script to install the drivers. For the Printer preferences program set Single for Paper Type and DIN A4 for Paper Format and set lines to 62, and margins to around 2 and 80. Select Save. If updating from previous driver, please reboot to clear old driver from memory. For PrinterGfx, select Floyd-Steinberg dithering, Integer scaling, Positive Image, Horz. aspect and Colour. To save on ink use Threshold of around 5 and set density to about 4. If you are experiencing problems with this driver send me email (see below).
