CD-ROM FAQ

We've attempted to answer some common support questions below; please take the time to read through these and see if any helps you with your problem before requesting the assistance of a technician.

After fitting my CD-ROM drive and inserting a CD, I get no icon for it on Workbench.

Probably your Squirrel interface is not connected properly to your PCMCIA port. To test this, run SCSIMounter (in your Workbench/SquirrelSCSI drawer). If SCSIMounter reports "Inquiry Failed", then carefully reconnect your Squirrel interface and try again - click the Update button to make SCSIMounter rescan the SCSI bus.

Some of my CDs don't appear to work as they should - missing drawers and files and things.

Probably the CD has been created using a filesystem other then the standard Amiga CD filesystem. Install Ami-CDROM from the shareware disks that were supplied with your package. While installing, name the device AmiCD0 otherwise the default CD0 name will overwrite your original Amiga CD0 icon. Before you reboot, move the original CD0 icon from Devs:DOSDrivers into Workbench:Storage/DOSDrivers.

How do I play audio CDs?

Put them in your hi-fi. No, seriously, to control audio CDs via your Amiga you need to install some software which enables you to do this. One such program, YACDP, is supplied on the shareware disks that came with your package.
