We've attempted to answer some the common support questions below; please take the time to read through these and see if any helps you with your problem before requesting the assistance of a technician.

I have heard that some memory boards / accelerators cannot use more than 4MB with Aura.

All A1200 memory boards, and some A1200 accelerators, use the 68EC020 processor chip to address the expansion memory. When this is the case and any device is plugged into the PCMCIA slot, the A1200 hardware allocates 4MB of memory to the PCMCIA device - even though Aura does not need it and does not ask for it! This 4MB is allocated from the 4-8MB expansion memory range, thus effectively disabling 4MB of it.

So if you have a memory board or an older accelerator board with just 4MB expansion memory on it, there will be no problem; if you go above 4MB on such a board you will probably experience memory problems.

Newer, more powerful, accelerators use the extra processor to address the expansion memory, which means you can have any amount of expansion memory without conflicting with Aura. Boards that are OK include all current Blizzard boards, the GVP 1230, the Apollo 1230/40/60, the Magnum 1230/40/60 and the Viper 2 boards.

Remember, all other boards work, but just up to 4MB expansion ram.

When I run the Aura program I get a message saying "PCMCIA sampler not detected".

The Aura software checks for the cartridge on initialisation. If you get the above message, check your cartridge is properly connected to the PCMCIA port. If it appears to be properly connected yet you are still having problems, examine the pins on your PCMCIA connector for damage.

I own an accelerator card and get crackling noises when sampling in 16 bits.

Accelerator cards can speed up the machine to such an extent that the time period between fetching successive samples is reduced, not allowing the A-D convertors to work correctly. Try disabling the CPU Cache on power up.
