I've gathered you all here today to talk about Aminet. I had the SWAG user group over to my place this Sunday gone and I realised that the major problem with Aminet is that it's full of great stuff that no-one knows about. For instance, Commodore's RAD is a terrible thing - absolutely useless. However, StatRam off Aminet gives you a RAD: that you can set the size of, but which only takes the ram it requires while it's being used. That way you can have a 15Mb RAD: disk on a 16Mb Amiga without only having 1Mb free ram left by the time you've booted. Betcha didn't know about that one?

Okay then, how about inputstream? It's a simple shell command that you can put in your user-startup which can then be used to put oft-repeated bits of text into programs. As is no secret, I use Directory Opus as a Workbench replacement and I can now hit a keyboard combination to put my email address into any program at the touch of a button, instead of having to laboriously type it out into each program each time.

What about WBStartup+? This excellent commodity allows you to dynamically choose which of your other commodities get run at startup, you can disable them all with an easy key press and you can set your preferences as to which ones you want to run and in what order in the supplied preferences program. Best of all, you get a nice progressbar while they are loading that shows you what's going on. Have you got that? No?
