As a child, G'Kar lived on the Narn
Homeworld with his family. At that time the Centauri still had control of the
Narn Homeworld, and he and his family were made to serve as slaves. After his
father had spilt some drink over his Centauri master he was hung from a tree for
three days before he died. During this time G'Kar visited his father against his
mother's wishes. Before he died he told G'Kar to be all the things he never was,
and to fight for his freedom. Shortly after, G'Kar ran away and killed his first
Centauri. G'Kar has always believed that the Narn would be under threat while
the Centauri race was still alive. In 2253 he became part of the third circle of
the Kha'Ri.
In 2256 he was sent to Babylon 5 and assumed the position
of Ambassador there. When Ambassador Kosh arrived on the station, G'Kar became
mixed up in an assassination attempt on the Vorlon's life in an effort to gain
extra alliances. When the Centauri Emperor Turhan visited the station G'Kar got
the approval of the Kha'Ri to kill him. Before he got his wish the Centauri
Emperor died, but sent a message to G'Kar telling him that he wished to
apologise for what his family had done to the Narn. For the first time G'Kar
believed that there may be a spark of decency in the Centauri. This belief was
shattered 24 hours later when the Centauri destroyed a Narn outpost in Quadrant
14 and this led to another Narn-Centauri war. After the Narn were forced to
surrender, G'Kar was given sanctuary aboard Babylon 5 by Captain Sheridan, and
as part of the Narn unconditional surrender was stripped of his position as
Ambassador. He now helps run the Narn underground resistance in the hope of
freedom and revenge. In G'Kar's time aboard Babylon 5 he has survived three
separate assassination attempts on his life. In 2260 after attacking Londo,
G'Kar was sentenced to 60 days in the station's prison facility. He was released
early, shortly before the station's conflict with Earth. Later that year he was
accepted into the Conspiracy of Light and has provided them with both
information and weapons support. He is a strong follower of the book of G'Quan
which provided Sheridan and his allies with one of the Shadow's weaknesses.
