Delenn was raised as a member of the
Religious Caste from an early age. Delenn became part of the Grey Council and
was there at the death of their leader Dukhat in 2242. She has hated Soul
Hunters ever since she defended Dukhat's soul from one shortly after his death.
During the Earth-Minbari war she was onboard a Minbari cruiser on the Battle of
the Line, and was the one who chose Sinclair to be brought aboard the ship so
they could examine Humans. When they discovered that Minbari souls were being
reborn into Humans she decided to support the decision to surrender.
In
2256 she was assigned to Babylon 5 to study the Humans and determine whether
they were the race Valen once spoke of. She decided to keep her position within
the Grey Council a secret and was known simply as Ambassador Delenn. Later when
an assassination attempt was made on Ambassador Kosh, she supplied Sinclair with
the necessary information to help save his life. From then on she has always had
a close relationship with the Commander. In 2258 she was offered the position as
leader of the Grey Council, but declined on the grounds that she must continue
her work aboard Babylon 5. At the end of 2258 Delenn entered a Chrysalis and
emerged at the beginning of 2259 as a half Human, half Minbari hybrid. After her
transformation many of the Minbari lost respect for her and she was removed from
the Grey Council. When Babylon 5 fought for independence from Earth in 2260 she
went back to the Grey Council once again and demanded that they act. At this
point the Council was split and then disbanded. She now has a very close
relationship with Captain Sheridan and is known as Ranger 1, the leader of the
Rangers. |
