An Earth Force Intelligence agent arrives on Babylon 5 and begins to question the Ambassadors and crew about the strange craft recorded by Starfury pilot Warren Keffer, deep in hyperspace. A Ranger called Marcus Cole also arrives on the station and soon after meets with Delenn. Marcus and Delenn then lead Sheridan off the station to present him with the his new craft, the White Star. Created with both Minbari and Vorlon organic technology, the White Star embarks on its first mission to rescue some nearby Rangers from a Drazi colony which has been blockaded with Centauri mines. Meanwhile, Londo meets with Morden in an attempt to break his ties with the Shadows.

Convictions

Babylon 5 is hit by a string of terrorist explosions, one of which leaves Lennier critically ill in Med Lab after saving Londo's life. When the identity and location of the bomber is discovered, Security move in only to find he is expecting them. Sheridan is taken hostage by the bomber as he threatens to destroy the entire station. When the bomb is located attached to the station's fusion reactor, the Security team must try to remove it while Sheridan continues to negotiate with the terrorist. Both Londo and G'Kar remain trapped together in a lift following a previous explosion. G'Kar refuses to help Londo escape, wishing only to watch him die.

A Day in the Strife

Na'Far arrives on the station and G'Kar is removed from his position as the Narn Ambassador aboard Babylon 5. Na'Far's orders also involve the return of G'Kar for trial by the Centauri. Sheridan refuses Na'Far's request to help return G'Kar to the Homeworld honoring his agreement for G'Kars' sanctuary. A mysterious probe enters Babylon 5 space and transmits a message to the station promising new technology and cures for all diseases. In return, it requests answers to over 600 advanced questions. With only 24 hours to return all the answers before the probe self destructs and destroys the station, the search begins. Sheridan later beleives the probe has actually been sent to evaluate and destroy possible enermies and must now decide his course of action. Meanwhile, Dr. Franklin begins to show signs of an addiction to Stims.

Passing Trough Gethsemane

Lyta Alexander returns once again to the station, but this time she arrives back from the Vorlon Homeworld aboard Ambassador Kosh's ship. Being the only Human to return from Vorlon Homeworld, Lyta informs the Captain that she now works for the Vorlon Ambassador as his assistant. A visiting monk called Edward begins to experience strange visions of a posible past. The confused monk discovers he was once a murderer known as the Black Rose Killer, and in 2251 was sentenced to the death of personality. Garibaldi and Sheridan discover someone has hired a Centauri telepath to break Brother Edward's Brainwipe, and now must try to save his life.

Voices of Authority

Draal makes another appearance on Babylon 5, this time to help the Conspiracy of Light contact the First Ones. The First Ones helped defeat the Shadows in the last great war, and would be a great ally in the battle that lies ahead. Using the great machine on Epsilon 3, Draal intends to let Sheridan look for the best candidates before approuching them. Julie Musante, from the Ministry of Peace arrives on the station to see the Captain, and delays him from his meeting with Draal. Ivanova takes his place on Epsilon 3, and while in the machine discover's some vital information about President Santiago's assassination. Ivanova leaves the station with Marcus aboard the White Star, heading towards Sigma 957. Once there they make contact with the First Ones and ask for their support when they are needed.

Dust to Dust

Bester returns once again to the station on the trail of one of the biggest manufacturers of the drug called Dust. Once taken, the drug will amplify the telepathic area of the individual's mind. Because of Bester's inability to keep to the rules, Sheridan insists that he is given a drug that will temporarily suppress his telepathic powers. G'Kar, being aware of the Drugs effects, takes the drug himself and proceeds to attack Londo in his quarters. Using the influence of the drug, G'Kar enters Londo's mind in the hope of discovering the secrets that he has locked away. During the attack, Ambassador Kosh enters G'Kar's mind in an attempt to stop his destruction. Later, G'Kar is sentenced to 60 days in the Babylon 5 prison facility for his attack on the Centauri Ambassador.

Exogenesis

Sheridan instructs Ivanova to investigate whether a newly promoted member of the crew can be trusted. When a dead man turns up with no apparent cause of death, Dr. Franklin performs a post-mortem and discovers a small creature wrapped around the dead man's spine. Marcus becomes concerned when a good friend goes missing and along with Dr. Franklin begins to investigate his disappearance. Whilst searching, Dr. Franklin and Marcus are captured and held by a group of Humans who claim to be helping a race of aliens survive by letting them live within the Lurkers' bodies. Dr. Franklin must now decide, whether to help the aliens or to try to destroy them.

Messages from Earth

Marcus helps a messenger reach the Captain with important news of a Shadow ship found in Earth controlled space. The woman informs Sheridan and the Conspiracy of light that several Shadow vessels were recovered from beneath the Mars surface, but escaped. Earth Force has now discovered another ship and intends to use it against the other races, and even against their own people. The White Star and its crew head for Earth space with only one thing in mind, to destroy the Shadow craft. During the mission the White Star is attacked by the Earth Alliance Agammemnon and Sheridan must avoid confrontation with his own people. Meanwhile, back on Babylon 5, Nightwatch begins to tighten its grip on the station's Security and Earth Central declares a state of martial law.

Point of No Return

As Sheridan prepares to calm things down aboard the station he learns that General Hague, his main contact, is now on the run opposing the President's actions. Sheridan receives the orders from Earth that Nightwatch have been assigned control of off-world Security. Garibaldi confronts Nightwatch and is relieved of his position by the Nightwatch representative. As Sheridan begins to search for a way out, he receives his orders to declare martial law on Babylon 5. G'Kar helps Sheridan by offering Narn troops to help secure the station. Nightwatch plans to catch the command crew and arrest them for treason, but Sheridan has planned for this, and with Zack's help, captures the Nightwatch for conspiracy to mutiny. Meanwhile, Londo meets with a Centauri seeress to try and get a glimpse of his destiny.

Severed Dreams

As General Hague's warship, the Alexander, arrives at Babylon 5, Sheridan informs the command crew that Babylon 5 will help them. Sheridan learns of General Hague's death aboard the Alexander and also that Mars has rejected the martial law. The Churchill warship arrives to join the Alexander, but Sheridan learns of Earth's plans to seize control of Babylon 5 by force, and prepares to declare independence. The station Security is put on full alert as they prepare to join forces with the Alexander and Churchill to protect Babylon 5. In the battle that follows the station and the allied warships receive heavy damages, and the Churchill is destroyed while taking an enemy ship down with it. As more enemy warships arrive, Delenn brings help in the form of a Minbari cruiser fleet. The battle may have been won but at the loss of a great many lives.

Ceremonies of Light and Dark

As a result of their recent battle for independence, Sheridan and Delenn's lives are now in danger. A group of violent Nightwatch supporters have decided to fight Sheridan's decision and prepare to kill him. Londo meets with Lord Refa to try and force him to withdraw from his alliance with the Shadows. Delenn wishes to hold a ceremony to mark recent changes aboard the station, but not everyone thinks it is the right time. Delenn is captured by the Nightwatch terrorists while meeting a Minbari Captain from his ship. The group want the station to be given back to Earth and the Minbari ships removed or they will kill Delenn and the Minbari Captain. As Marcus begins his own investigation, Lennier reveals how he feels about Delenn.

Sic Transit Vir

Vir returns from his diplomatic duties on the Minbari Homeworld, and is introduced to his future wife by Londo. Unaware of the marriage arrangements, Vir explains that he only wishes to marry for love. Zack discovers that a large number of Narns are passing through the station escaping from their Homeworld. Upon further investigation, Ivanova discovers that the Narns' papers of transit have been authorised by Vir using a false name. Vir reveals that he is trying to help the Narn by allowing them to work on construction sites and factories. A Narn on the station believes Vir to be a murderer and attacks him as he returns to his quarters. When Ivanova confronts Londo about the transfers, and Vir is forced to reveal the truth. The transfers are in fact to help the Narn escape certain death by the Centauri.

A Late Delivery from Avalon

When a man in the boarding area of Babylon 5 refuses to give up his sword, Marcus steps in to help. The man claims to be the reawakened King Arthur returning 1700 years after his reported death. Marcus reminds the crew that the Vorlons have been to Earth before and as in the case of Sebastian, taken people and used them later when they are needed. Dr. Franklin examines DNA from the man and discovers that he served in the Earth-Minbari war. The man, known as David McIntyre, was in fact a Gunnery sergeant on the Earth Alliance Prometheus that opened fire on a Minbari cruiser and started the Earth-Minbari war. Meanwhile, Sheridan asks the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to help protect the Station, and Garibaldi tries his best to retrieve a package that is being held back until he pays the delivery charge.

Ship of Tears

When Sheridan responds to a distress signal from an Earth ship, he finds a Black Omega Starfury. Sheridan discovers Psi Cop Bester aboard the Starfury and questions his appearance. Bester reports he has information that will benefit the Captain and his crew. Once back on Babylon 5, Bester informs the crew that a shipment of weapons supplies is being moved through hyperspace heading for the Shadows. Sheridan agrees to help Bester and leaves with him and a crew on the White Star. They destroy the escort fighters, but a Shadow Cruiser appears. Strangely the Shadow ship refuses to engage the White Star and abandons the shipment. On the cargo ship the crew discover cryogenically frozen telepaths destined to be CPUs for the Shadow ships. After G'Kar's recent pressure he now becomes part of the Conspiracy of Light, and Garibaldi thinks he may have a weapon against the Shadows.

Interludes and Examinations

Many of the Non-Aligned Worlds are now asking for help but are questioning Sheridan's ability to stop the Shadows. The Captain asks Kosh for the Vorlons' support in stopping the slaughter of many races. After a very heated confrontation with Kosh, the Vorlon Ambassador agrees to attack the advancing Shadows, but states "I will not be there to help you when you go to Z'ha'dum". Morden begins to make threats against Londo in an attempt to regain control of the Centauri. Later Londo discovers his old love Adira has been found dead and rejoins Morden to plot his revenge. Dr. Franklin's aggressive behaviour starts to show though as his growing addiction to Stims continues, and he resigns from his position. Kosh is attacked and killed in his quarters, and now Sheridan understands the true price he has paid for the Vorlons' support.

War Without End, Part I

Back on the Minbari Homeworld, Ambassador Sinclair is given a message from the past and returns to Babylon 5, this time to embark on a mission prophesied by Valen. Delenn gathers the group together and explains that they must return though time to take Babylon 4 before the Shadows destroy it. The station is needed as a base of operations to fight the Shadows 1000 years ago. Delenn also explains that if they do not retrieve Babylon 4, then Babylon 5 will be destroyed. The group, including Sheridan, Marcus, Sinclair, Ivanova and Delenn, exit through a time hole in sector 14 that has been created by Epsilon 3. Each of the crew is given a Time Stabiliser that they must carry to avoid becoming unstuck in time. Upon exiting the time warp the White Star engages and destroys the Shadow Bomb, but in the explosion Sheridan's Time Stabiliser is destroyed and he finds himself bouncing though time, experiencing things from the future.

War Without End, Part II

With the group now on board, Babylon 4 Marcus and Ivanova work together to find a way onto the command deck. Sheridan continues to bounce though time and discovers many things that lie ahead. He also discovers that in the future he and Delenn have a son. Sheridan returns to the present and continues to help Sinclair prepare to make the jump. While attaching the time jump system to Babylon 4's central power core, it activates prematurely and as the station is pulled four years into the future, Sheridan disappears once again. Zathras is captured while trying to repair Sheridan's Time Stabiliser. As a figure in a space suit appears in the main hallway, Zathras rushes to hand it the repaired Time Stabiliser. As the station prepares to jump, Sinclair explains that he must take the station back alone. Before the jump Sinclair asks Zathras to explain who is the person he refers to as 'The One'. Zathras explains that Sinclair, Delenn and Sheridan are 'The One'. As the station jumps Sinclair begins his transformation so he will be accepted by the Minbari.

Walkabout

Sheridan once again makes the decision to offer sanctuary to a Narn cruiser. The Vorlon to replace Kosh arrives at the station and is met by Sheridan and Ivanova. When asked how they should refer to him in private, the Vorlon just says "We are all Kosh". Franklin continues his attempt to overcome his addiction. Sheridan decides to test Garibaldi's theory about using telepaths as a weapon against Shadows. Many of the War Council are wary of this decision and decline him backup. Leaving with only a Minbari cruiser as escort, Sheridan and Lyta intend to engage a Shadow ship using the White Star. During the mission they are successful in destroying a Shadow ship, but as more arrive they are forced to run. After Garibaldi's confrontation with G'Kar about his and the others' lack of support, G'Kar arrives with support to help the White Star escape. Meanwhile, Dr. Franklin falls for a singer who is dying from a terminal illness.

Grey 17 is Missing

The Conspiracy of Light begins to recruit telepaths to use against the Shadows. Garibaldi begins to investigate the strange disappearance of a maintenance worker in Grey 16. While investigating, Garibaldi becomes trapped on a level that was never completed and must now try to escape. Delenn is offered the position as leader of the Rangers, but is challenged by a Minbari from the Warrior Caste. Neroon believes that because the Rangers are a military force, they should now be led by the Warrior Caste and plans to take command by any means. Marcus is informed by Lennier of Neroon's plans and now prepares to protect her. During a fight with Neroon, Marcus is critically injured, but succeeds and the ceremony is completed. Garibaldi discovers a creature that maybe the cause of the disappearances.

And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place

The deployment of the telepaths continues as they are shipped out to the races which have joined the battle. Sheridan, now showing the strain, continues to try to crack the Shadows' strategy. Londo begins a battle to convince the Centauri government that he is of more value than Lord Refa by tricking G'Kar into capture. Refa learns of Londo's plans using a telepath to gain the information from Vir, and sets out to get there first. Sheridan realises what the Shadows are planning and decides they must prepare to face them as they move towards a planet to which many refugee ships have fled. When G'Kar is captured by Lord Refa, he reveals that Londo arranged the meeting as revenge for Adira's death, and Refa is then killed by the Narn. Delenn leads Sheridan out on the White Star and finally reveals the true size of their forces.

Shadow Dancing

Delenn tries to rally support for the major confrontation with the Shadows that now lies ahead. With the support of many White Stars, the alliance intends to launch a massive attack on the Shadows as they enter sector 83. Within sector 83 lies a planet to which many refugees escaped. Ivanova and Marcus take their position as the scout ship and soon sight a Shadow scout ship. The White Star suffers heavy damages and they are forced to inform the fleet of the Shadows' arrival. During the fight many ships are destroyed. For each Shadow ship that is killed at least two allied ships are also destroyed. The mission is successful but only at a terrible cost to the allied forces. Meanwhile, in an attempt to break up a fight Down Below, Dr. Franklin is attacked and left for dead. While he lies dying he finally comes to terms with himself and makes the decision to live. Anna Sheridan makes an appearance on Babylon 5, much to the surprise of Delenn.

Z'ha'dum

Stunned by Anna's reappearance, Sheridan asks Dr. Franklin to examine her. Anna tells Sheridan to come to Z'ha'dum to meet the Shadows. Franklin discovers implants at the back of Anna's skull and informs Sheridan, but he continues to make plans to go with her. While preparing, he hears Kosh's voice warning him not to go. He leaves with Anna on the White Star and on his arrival the Humans there begin to explain the story of the Shadows. Soon after, Babylon 5 is surrounded by Shadow ships. Sheridan attacks a Shadow as it enters the room and tries to escape, but ends up on a ledge overlooking a huge hole. Knowing there is now no escape he instructs the White Star with two 500 mega ton bombs aboard to smash into the city. Sheridan again hears Kosh's voice, this time telling him to jump, and with nothing to lose Sheridan leaps from the ledge. The White Star explodes over the city and Sheridan is left presumed dead. As the Shadows around Babylon 5 leave, Garibaldi is caught within a Shadow ship and also disappears.
