John Sheridan began his career serving
under Captain Jack Maynard on the Moon-Mars patrol. He was also posted to the
jump point at Io along with Susan Ivanova. While in command of the Earth
Alliance Agammemnon, during the Earth-Minbari war, he managed to destroy the
Minbari flagship known as the Black Star. Although a great victory for the Earth
Alliance, the sending of a fake distress signal after the mining of the asteroid
belt between Mars and Jupiter was seen by the Minbari as a dishonourable act.
Because of this, many Minbari still refer to him as the 'Starkiller'.
Sheridan
assumed command of Babylon 5 at the beginning of 2259 following Commander
Sinclair's surprising re-assignment to the Minbari Homeworld. After Sheridan's
arrival, Ambassador Kosh began to show more of an interest in station affairs
and especially in Sheridan. Soon after, Kosh began a series of meetings to help
the Captain understand himself and to prepare him to fight legends. Kosh has
from time to time touched Sheridan's mind when they were far apart to help him,
even following the Vorlon's death in 2260, Sheridan still hears Kosh talk to
him. He has now taken on a far greater role than Babylon 5's Commander, as one
of the leaders of the Conspiracy of Light in the fight against the Shadows.
Sheridan also shares joint leadership of the Army of Light known as the Rangers,
and has his own craft called the White Star. He has always been haunted by the
death of his wife Anna, who was believed to have died on the Icarus exploration
craft, while exploring the planet Z'Ha'Dum. Nearing the close of 2260 he learnt
many things about her disappearance, including the fact that she was still
alive. Following his visit to Z'ha'dum he managed to kill many of the Shadows by
instructing the White Star with two 500 mega ton bombs to fly into the planet.
After the explosion Sheridan was missing and presumed dead. |
