Ben says:  I had thought about buying this album for quite a while now. Obviously, I had heard tracks like 'Scooby Snacks', 'The Fun Lovin' Criminal' and 'King of New York' on the radio, but what had really convinced that I might like the whole album was a live set recorded for Radio 1 that was broadcast on the evening session late last year. even so, I waited until yesterday to buy the album because I managed to get it for just £9.99.

The album is a mix of wiseguy-sounding New Yorkers singing over horns and drums, mixed with hard rock guitars in a kind of hip-hoppy style, but interspersed with other stuff. One of my favourite tracks so far has to be their cover version of 'We have all the time in the World', you know the Louis Armstrong song on Good Morning Vietnam and the Guinness ad. It also seems that FLC have made fast friends with Quentin Tarantino judging by the number of samples from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs through the album, particularly on 'Scooby Snacks'. As a whole, the album works really well as a great CD to put on while doing other things - cooking, working on the computer, whatever. You sit there nodding your head and wriggling in your seat as the groove washes over you and for that, the Fun Lovin' Criminals have to be thanked.

Overall, a good first album and I'll be keeping my eyes out for the next one.
