KingFisher v1.15 fixes two bugs that could hang the program and one that was just plain annoying, and adds several new features. With this release, the program has reached its most stable state ever: all known and reported bugs are fixed. From here on it's back on the road of big features. BUG FIXES (with respect to version 1.11): - A bug involving characters in the upper half of the Amiga's character set (äöüéèêçïã ... etc.) is now fixed. The presence of one of these symbols in a description would cause KingFisher to lock up. - A bug involving very wide fonts could also hang KingFisher if long words would not fit on a single line of the display. This, too, is fixed. - A bug was fixed that would not allow proper canceling of the save operation if the KingFisher.config file could not be written for one reason or another. ENHANCEMENTS - KingFisher's word-wrapping code now can break lines in places other than blank spaces: it honors dashes "-" and slashes "/" for this purpose, and is now also able to force an arbitrary line break if necessary. - KingFisher's word-wrapping code is now fine-tuned to allow text to fit better into the window space by dropping "trailing" spaces on a line. - Added gadgets to jump to the first and last entries in the database. These gadgets are relatively small, and located next to the disk number gadget. - The font that KingFisher uses for the description can now be supplied with style codes to make it bold, italic, and/or underlined. - When operating under Kickstart 2.0 the menu option 'Description Font' (it used to say 'Fonts') is now available and will provide the means to select a font for the description, including font styles. - A new menu option ('Safe Iconify') now provides the means to prevent KingFisher from saving the KingFisher.config file when the program is iconified. - The width of exported text can now be set in the KingFisher.config file to any value from 40-240. This width used to be a fixed value of 72 columns. - KingFisher can now operate with screens of 1, 2, or 3 bitplanes. This can be used to save some Chip RAM, or speed up some display functions. If you use fewer than 3 bitplanes, KingFisher will not use the bubble pattern for the background, and the visual appeal of the GUI will suffer. When using only a single bitplane, most of the gadgets will fail to provide selection feedback (i.e. when you click on them, they do not change.) It is recommended, therefore, that you do not use the program with only one bitplane. This is the first result of my effort to make KingFisher able to work with Public Screens. Further improvements will be forthcoming. - A new menu item under FISH has been added: 'Copy from,' allowing the duplication of another Fishtank's contents. This can be used to reset the current string gadgets and the position in the database to some value defined by the contents of some other Fishtank.
