*************************************************************************** LINEAR AUTOMATA Date: 24/9/88. By: JJB TEMPLAR Completely based on: "Abstract Mathematical Art" - Kenneth E. Perry, p 181, BYTE, Dec86. (I ignored the prog for the ibm pc!) Format: laut.g [f|F] Opts: none = seed is random. f = seed is fixed at 1 at every 50th point, 0 elsewhere. F = seed is fixed at 1 for point #160, 0 elsewhere. Operation: When prompted, enter a 10 digit rule. Errors at this point will be indicated by the program. Then the laut screen is brought to the front, and the screen drawn. Upon completion of a screen, hit return to enter another rule, or: Type 'l' to loop (ie: same automata, same rule). Type 'L n' (n an integer) to loop n times. Type any other key then return to kill the prog. A hundred rules were suggested in the article: (REM do not enter the rules split up like this! ) 0 001 033 232 |X| 0 031 302 120 |X| 0 131 202 112 |X| 0 232 320 233 0 001 321 021 |X| 0 031 312 330 |X| 0 200 213 303 |X| 0 233 332 230 0 001 321 200 |X| 0 100 023 321 |X| 0 201 102 332 |X| 0 300 231 232 0 001 330 123 |X| 0 100 222 313 |X| 0 201 120 011 |X| 0 301 220 300 0 002 023 330 |X| 0 100 332 102 |X| 0 201 220 111 |X| 0 301 223 033 0 002 032 123 |X| 0 100 332 202 |X| 0 202 032 321 |X| 0 302 032 310 0 010 212 332 |X| 0 102 013 322 |X| 0 202 301 321 |X| 0 302 033 010 0 010 322 003 |X| 0 102 030 022 |X| 0 202 330 211 |X| 0 302 230 132 0 010 332 330 |X| 0 102 323 201 |X| 0 203 002 120 |X| 0 302 311 102 0 010 332 321 |X| 0 102 330 023 |X| 0 203 021 013 |X| 0 303 023 003 0 011 202 122 |X| 0 102 330 312 |X| 0 210 033 210 |X| 0 303 210 023 0 012 003 101 |X| 0 102 330 322 |X| 0 211 030 031 |X| 0 310 012 320 0 012 011 001 |X| 0 103 022 021 |X| 0 211 303 210 |X| 0 310 021 113 0 012 031 221 |X| 0 103 023 003 |X| 0 213 102 233 |X| 0 310 103 220 0 012 300 103 |X| 0 103 202 100 |X| 0 220 132 200 |X| 0 310 122 002 0 012 322 132 |X| 0 103 220 011 |X| 0 221 312 221 |X| 0 322 202 330 0 013 103 112 |X| 0 103 220 232 |X| 0 222 100 323 |X| 0 323 101 303 0 020 122 112 |X| 0 112 322 130 |X| 0 223 010 033 |X| 0 330 102 221 0 021 312 200 |X| 0 120 302 230 |X| 0 223 200 322 |X| 0 330 102 303 0 023 302 220 |X| 0 120 133 230 |X| 0 230 011 001 |X| 0 331 310 203 0 030 023 231 |X| 0 120 203 330 |X| 0 230 120 333 |X| 2 000 133 101 0 030 210 333 |X| 0 121 302 210 |X| 0 230 122 000 |X| 2 031 013 013 0 031 022 131 |X| 0 130 023 230 |X| 0 230 210 333 |X| 2 112 013 330 0 031 100 120 |X| 0 130 203 301 |X| 0 231 220 233 |X| 2 120 203 330 0 031 123 002 |X| 0 131 123 000 |X| 0 231 331 233 |X| 3 310 013 031 In addition, the rule 0120133230 (#45 above) works well with 'laut.g F'. A photo of this one in the article seems identical to laut.g's. The color equivalence was unintentional. Edit the source to change the colors (or use a utility while the screen is up...). Recommended: opt F, rule 0230210333, and L to one's heart's content.
