WARNING on V1.2 NOTEPAD:

  Although Notepad is improved over the V1.1 version, one feature
cripples it: a formfeed (ASCII 12) ends every disk file.  Although you
do have an option to turn on the formfeed in output to printer from
screen, (it's in the PRINT AS menu) all disk files end in an ASCII
formfeed, whether or not the screen-to-printer formfeed option is on. 
It's a woeful flaw:
COPY or TYPE:   If you copy such a file to printer, you automatically
formfeed a fresh sheet of paper at the end of a file of even one line;
if you TYPE such a file in CLI, it clears the screen.  Great way to
read Notepad files in CLI!
EXECUTE SCRIPTS:   Notepad creates plain ASCII files if you don't use
fancy fonts or enhance print (underline, boldface, or italic).  It was
a way for the Apprentices to create startup-scripts and command files
without mastering the arcanities of ED - until the formfeed fiend at
C-A stuck the damn thing in.  #@!!.

Following is a letter to the Editor of the New Zealand Amiga User Group
(Wgtn) off newsdisk#3 you may find helpful.  An interesting point is
that this user group circulate their 'magazine' on a disk containing
public domain software, a newsletter, for sale items etc, and is quite
an interesting concept.  Very similar to the Sydney 'MEGADISK' now
available in Australia.  We have in the AAUA library the newsdisks from
New Zealand, so if you are interested, get in contact with our
librarian and grab a look at them yourself. - Ed.
