The Power Macintosh 9500, featuring the potent new PowerPC 604 processor and the PC industry standard PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus, arrives with strong support from a catalogue of more than 750 native Power Macintosh applications, thousands of Macintosh and Windows applications, as well as a new suite of PCI-based products from leading PC and Macintosh vendors. This combination provides customers with new solutions in areas such as digital video production, communications, client/server computing, enterprise computing, data acquisition, pre-press and high-speed networking. This combination of technologies provides customers in markets such as publishing, technical and media authoring with significant performance gains and greater access to customized personal computing solutions. With little additional investment, developers can significantly boost the speed of their native applications by optimizing especially for the new Power Mac 9500 with the next generation PowerPC 604 processor, allowing specific operations to run even faster--up to 300%--than they do on today's powerful RISC processor.
