Somehow yes, but no, actually c0124 kbytec03 too f4bigf1. 65424 bytes big it was this much discussed intro. How could one insert it into a c0240 kbc03 competition? Is this the end of all moral? We wanted to know more about the 'soundless' release and asked c02Lord/Impulsec03 about the facts. The party already was in direct sight, when c02EFT/Impulsec03 finally came to the conclusion that he should maybe release something at the Symposium. With that thought in the temporal lobus of his brain, he survived some further days until on c04Wednesdayc03 (keep in mind, the party started on c04Fridayc03) he actually started coding. No need of further commentation, we know how c04codersc03 are. What would we do without them? We would save ourselves a lot of nerves. Especially when seeing that the release itself can't be finished in time before departure. c02Lordc03 comments: f4"We left to the party on thursday, but the intro was not ready till then (of course). On friday night we met on irc and told he will send it through the net. He asked for the limit, too, and since it was written on the bigscreen 'ALL 64kb INTROS COMPO' we told him the limit was 64kb."f1 Now that is interesting indeed. Why believing in oldfashioned partyannouncements from ancient invitations? There they said that the c02PCc03 competition would feature a c0464 kbc03 limitation, whereas the c02Amigac03 intros shall not exceed c04 40kbc03. In fact the beforementioned line was shown on the big screen by the organizers. They meant in their timeschedule that all limited competitions shall come up one after another from a certain time on. Lord continues: f4"He sent the stuff through the net on saturday night. we managed to leech it on sunday morning, but when we wanted to contribute we were told the Amiga limit was 40kb."f1 Difficult to decide here whether to break out in hysteric laughters full of mockery or to show deepfelt compassion with the guys. Still, we can imagine the panik in the eyes of our impulsive friends. f4"What to do? The coder is not presented at the party, we can't code, so we had to try to reach the coder to remove something. But =since it was Easter and it's a big celebration in Hungary he was not at home. So, we went back to the organizers with sour face and explained the situation."f1 We know our organizers from the Symposium, too weak even to let someone carry in his own luggage, they help wherever they can. How easy it would have been just to say: f4"Oh, too bad really. Try again next time, friends."f1 But, no. Of course they had to play the samaritarian once again. f4"They were very kind and told they allow us to compete but without music played." f1 There were quite a lot of people muttering about that 64kb intro in the 40k competition still, as one can do much more with textures having additional c0124kbc03 and of course that is true, still if the music takes exact these 24kbyte or even more, then the rest would have fit in 40kb and no one could mutter about an intro fitting into 40kb but without sound being played - doubtful however if it would be a success in the end. What, however, if the music took only c0210kbc03? Then c02EFTc03 would have had 54kb for his coding and graphics therefore an advantage of c0114 kbc03. Actually, we do not want to discuss this topic too much here, especially under regard of c02Lordsc03 ending statement: f4"You know an intro without music is something like shit without smell."f1 Still our advice to the c02Symposiumc03 organizers shall be that friendliness and helpfulness is something highly appreciated, c02butc03 sometimes one has to have an eye on relations as next time, someone might calculate on that basis to actually gain an advantage like described earlier.
