tThe man who killed...tRokDaZone & Shayeratfpc01s2f1 THE MAN WHO "KILLED" AN ACTIVE SCENERESSE c02 by RokDaZone & Shayera/Immortalis Rex c03 Some might have wondered about the sudden end of the group c04Spoonc03 and especially the rigid departure of c02Christine de la Queenc03, the much talked about single f4Sceneressef1, from the Scene. For those who have some problems to remember the group which gained quite some fame for their musicpack-series c04Soundc03, which included short non-chip tunes from musicians all over the Scene and which was released five times before the break of the group, here is some short background information. In 1993, c02Shayerac03 who was a coder for c02Parasitec03 before and who was active with a c04ProTrackerc03 clone left his group to startup a new team called c02Transonicc03. The group then again had a handful of minor releases without any major entry into the Scene. It must have been in 1994, when c02Christine c03joined up the group by rebuilding it to some instances. The team from now on was called c04Spoonc03 and worked out quite well under the iron hand of the prime lady, who also was an active member of the c04ROM-teamc03 and as such one of the most referred to writer of that time. Unforgotten also the hefty discussions with c02Pearl/Passionc03 if there is a place for f4womenf1 in the Scene, which raised quite an upheaval within many Sceners. Then in early 1996, the group finally died without a further sound. Before one actually even knew about it, c04Spoonc03 was down the drain, c02Christinec03 and almost the rest of the group out of Scene. Some people at that became active under the name of c04Transonicc03, yet if they are in any case related to the incidents isn't clarified up to now. Now, after quite some time, c02Shayerac03 has returned from his break and for the first time, you are now able to understand the full story from first hand. c01 THE SILENCE OF SOUNDc03 c04"I was quite sorry for it all,"c02 Shayerac03 tells us c04"and consider it to be partly my fault, since it was my delays that atleast were c02CDLQ'sc04 reasons for leaving."c03 c04Sound issue #6c03 was nearly finished last year, when the coder of c04Spoonc03 got a job working in a small multimedia company in copenhagen after waiting to get employed for quite some time. Full of energy and enthusiasm, c02John A.Hingec03 - so his real name - threw himself into work for it really appeared to be a good thing, since he would be working together with c02CDLQc03 at the same place and therefore figured that c04Soundc03 would run smoother. c04"Unfortunately,"c03 he continues, c04"I was rather busy, learning the ropes of my new job and ultimately c03Soundc04 was to be delayed for a summer release." c03As the month's went, he still felt way too busy to work on c04Soundc03 andc02 CDLQc03 apparantly got quite upset. Simultaneously her powersupply blew, and he offered her his as a loan, since he was not using his Amiga at that time. Some time went by, and she got upset with Sound not progressing more and more so that one day she told Shayera that she wanted out, and wanted c04Soundc03 with her, perhaps to be made into an online project. c04"That was for my part the end of the c03Soundc04 project, although I am currently in the posession of a source directory approximately 3.5 MB of C code, gfx data, documentation etc. if f4'someone'f1 needs a music disk that runs on AGA, with or without harddisk, and runs while multitasking (system friendly), it even works on 68030/4/60, but needs a little work if you need CyberGFX."c02 CDLQ's c03departure left c04Spoonc03 without an organizer and c02Shayerac03 simply was too fed up with it all to put the pieces back together and left the Scene alone until c02The Party 6c03, in December. As a consequence there was no communication c04Spoon-wisec03 from that day on, and the group hasn't made a peep since. A slow dying, not a big bang. c04"I later found out that our newest musician competed at the c02Summer Party 1996c04, and got a 3 place, without knowing that his group didn't exist!"c02 Shayerac03 feels still bad about the facts. c02 CURRENT PLANS: PARTY ON! c03 Nowadays, the coder is still not invovled with coding f4'Scene'f1 stuff, as he hasn't the time for it as he claims.c04 "All my focus is on coding company stuff, overseeing installation of our web servers etc. I 'am' in a group though! We're called 'c03Immortalis Rexc04' and we are a group of organizers, lacking everything but web designers." c03Asked if he ever thought about c04JAVA-demosc03, he is not sure if it is his way to go on: c04"Thought about it: Yes. Done it: No." c03Still, he sees possibilities there: c04"An ex-c03RamJamc04 member has made 12 java applets with very cool demo effects, like plasma, fire, voxels, tunnels..." "We are currently organizing a small party for around 100 people to be held second to fourth April in Solrod. There will be the usual compo's, with prizes sponsored by c03Egmont Interactivec04."c03 Also parties are always taken for granted, there remains the questions if a small newborngroup of the described abilities can succeed,c02 Shayerac03 has to admit that he is not entirely sure about it: c04"We hope so. This is a sort of test baloon for this, therefore only the 100 people etc. This is a c03'Seeland'c04 party, meaning we don't invite anyone from 'overseas (Jutland, Germany etc.) Also we try to get a feel for it all, which compo's are still necessary etc."c03 f4Whateverf1 may happen, we wish this original a good start into his second Scenespring.
