tWho do we respect?tShade/Digitaltfps1c01f4 WHO DO WE RESPECT? c02f1 by Shade/Digital c03 There are some names in our Scene that have managed to do what most people can only dream of: To earn the c02respectc03 of Sceners. We all know who they are - people of the past and present - people like: c02Facetc03, c02Chaosc03, c02Offac03 and c02Mobyc03. Groups like: c02TBLc03, c02Sanityc03, c02Artworkc03 and c02 Anarchyc03. But why do we have such admiration for these people and groups? I thought it might be interesting to explore some of the reasons in this article/list...whatever you want to call it. The explanations I'm about to give may seem obvious to most, but I still thought it would be interesting to point a few out. So, who do we respect? c01 TRSIc03 We respect c02Tristar and Red Sector Incc03 (better known as: c02TRSIc03) for lasting as a group for over c02ten yearsc03! Yes, it was over ten years ago that the two old-school groups - c02Red Sector and Tristarc03 - decided to form the now f4leagendaryf1 coalition: c02TRSIc03. Sadly they have been rather dormant these past two years or so, with one of their few releases being an intro they released at c02TP6c03. Still, you can't help but feel it's only a matter of time before these historic Gods arise from their sleep to surprise us all. Eventhough they no longer enjoy chart success and some may question Uyanik's commercial exploitation of the c02TRSIc03 name... they still have undying c02respectc03 from most people, and that is the sign of a c04truec03 Scene legend! c01 POLANDERS c03 We respect the country c02Polandc03 for breathing new life into the Scene; just as its future was looking bleak. For years Poland's Scene was considered to be f4lamef1. But while countries such as Germany and France were busy mocking her, Poland was busy giving birth to future c04legendsc03. People like c02Sputnik/Freezersc03 and, of course, c02Lazur/Anadunec03. Let us not forget their rising stars too...people like c02Zig/Floppy^Freezersc03 and the graphicians c02Famec03 and c02PickPokec03. The days of disregarding Poland are well and truly c04gonec03. Now Pols hold their heads high, because they have our c02respectc03! By the way, watch out for c02Sputnik'sc03 new demo coming soon...you thought c04Wit Premiumc03 was hot! c01 NOT JUST HUMAN SCANNERS c03 We respect the graphicians c02Pixie/Polka Brosc03 and c02 Electron/Citronc03 for not copying any of their pictures. All of their pictures come from their c04ownc03 imaginations, yet they still manage to create works of (true) art which also look good. Any scene artist will tell you that painting original pictures is one of the hardest things to do! Graphicians like c02Dannyc03 andc02 Facetc03 have said in the past that it's not possible to create good looking pictures without copying, but these guys, c02Electronc03 andc02 Pixiec03, prove them c04wrongc03. c01 TBL...GIVING HELL c03 We respect c02The Black Lotusc03 for producing some of the best demos ever seen, and also for having a c04veryc03 large majority of the scene's talent under one label. With names such as: c02Facetc03, c02Dannyc03, c02Supernao c03and c02Offac03, they must have one of the strongest members base of any group...ever! (equal to the old c02Anarchyc03) I also like them for moving to c04London/Englandc03 and working for c02Team 17c03! c01 ULTIMATE CHAOS c03 We respect c02Chaos/ex.Sanityc03 for pushing the c04A500c03 to its limit. Shame he's decided not to do the same on the c04A1200c03. This is the man with absolutely c04noc03 idea of design, no idea of colour coordination, or of how to link routines! But he helped pioneer a lot of the Scene's now f4standardf1 routines, such as the c02zoom/rotatec03 effect which was first seen in his c02World Of Commodorec03 trackmo...and for that we admire c02Chaosc03. c01 DISCO BALLS c03 We respect the coders c02Dr.Jekyllc03 and c02Mr.Hydec03 for being great visionaries. Sure, c02Chaosc03 had the technical excellence, but he wouldn't know design and creativity if they c04smacked him in the facec03. The two-faced c04Andromedac03 duo, on the other hand, are blessed with both technical and artistic excellence. They know how to create mood and atmosphere in a demo, and they also have the great ability to turn c04oldc03 ideas into interesting c04newc03 effects. While c02Chaosc03 might have given you a plan light-sourced cube...c02Dr.Jeckelc03 and c02Mr.Hydec03 would take that light-sourced cube and turn it into a revolutionary routine like the c02Natural Motionc03 effect. While c02Chaosc03 would have given you a super-fast ellipse drawing routine...c02Dr.Jeckelc03 and c02Mr.Hydec03 would take that routine and produce the c02Disco Ballc03 effect. Will we see more of their talents on our beloved c04Amigac03 in future...who knows? But after leaving us with great productions such as: c04Mind Riot, D.O.S,c03 and c04Nexus-7c03, one thing I do know is that they'll always have our respect. c01 ANARCHY IN THE UK c03 We respect the almighty c02Anarchyc03. Of course we all know and have respect for the old c02Anarchyc03, but none more than those of us from the English isles. c02Anarchyc03, a largely British based group, managed to really hit the Scene hard in the late c0480sc03 and early c0490sc03 (I wasn't around then, but I've been doing my research) With once big British names like: c024-Matc03, c02Danc03, c02Nuke c03(now Spaceman), c02Facetc03, c02Krest c03and prods like c04Legalise Itc03, c04KrestMas Leftoversc03 and c04Stolen Datac03, the UK really felt like a productive part of the Scene. Nowadays of course, the UK is full of Sceners with no ambition (with a few exceptions). Sadly, ambition has even become a dirty and egotistical word to some people in our Scene...shame that. If you join a well known overseas group in today's UK Scene you get branded as a traitor and fame seeker. Of course there are a c04lot morec03 people who deserve a mention in this article, but you know what...I can't be bothered! Maybe I'll write another c02"Who Do We Respect"c03 file next issue...
