Her long blonde hair is thick and looks pretty. Altough she is so young, you know she will be a smashing vamp when she grows up. You never saw a human being as fragile as this lovely girl. It looks as if the girl is merely sleeping but when you take a closer look you can see her body is ripped into various pieces ..... She is beheaded, her arms are ripped off and her legs are cut off too. She is still moving but she is almost dead, these movements are just reflects of the body. And that is not the worst because when you take a real close look at the girl you will notice that her body parts seem to be living a life of their own. f1The above lines seem to be taken from the script of a horror movie or at least an exiting thriller. Nothing is less true. c12It is the sad story of our beloved Amiga Scene. c13Of course it is metaphorical language, but it is the story of our scene all right. Our girl (the Scene) is about nine years of age and she is ripped into pieces too. In the beginning of the scene (1988-1992) when everybody still owned a simple Amiga 500 with 1 MB, the Scene was still united. Often, we simply called it f4c12'The demo Scene'f1c13, but for example, the few (back then) modemtraders and the diskmag Sceners belonged to that demo Scene too. A better name for that early Scene would be f4c12'Production Scene' f1c13because the Scene was a real body with various firmly attached bodyparts, with the demos as the vivid heart. Because all you needed to see the productions in that period of time was a standard A500 with 1 MB, every Scener could see all the productions which were being released. This was not only good for those Sceners but also for the creators of the productions; they reached more Sceners as they do now. c12In those years, we were a happy united bunch of hobby-ists. Today we aint. c13In todays scene of 1996, we have a lot of Scene parts, resembling the bodyparts of the girl, which are not or very badly in contact which eachother. Of course we can start with the lowest; the c12ECS Scenec13. Yes! It's still out there, Sceners who own a standard A500 only. Those people watch the ECS productions, which get fewer and fewer and eventually those people with get disabled from the the rest of the Scene. In the best scenario those ECS Sceners will buy a second hand A1200 (like I did) but, most likely, f2they will lose interest in the Scene and then they just quit. f1Then we have the c12Trader-Scenec13. Those guys are not really interested in the Scene. Most of them don't even now the real Scene legends. They just upload and upload to earn credits so they can top the trader charts. f2In my opinion, this is the worst Scene part of all. f1The c12Diskmag Sceners c13are becoming a lose part more and more too. Of course they will always have the necessary bonds with the rest of the Scene because they have to bring articles which have subjects like; f4c12'The traders of today' f1c13or f4c12'Look at that demo'f1c13. But .... the diskmags are more and more talking about their oponents and themselfs, thus bringing less and less articles which tell about other parts of the Scene. The charts, of course we can place them under the title of diskmags, have often got editors who just type over the names which the voters voted for. f2Often those editors haven't even seen the productions which are in the top of their charts. f1Then we have the c12A1200 Scenec13. This is just the standard A1200 Scene, with Sceners attending it who just haven't got the cash to upgrade their A1200's, or who don't care that they can't watch the latest demo's because they are editors of a magazine or they have a reason which is somehat similar. Finally we have the c12A1200++ Scenec13. This is the part of the scene which we can call : f4c12'The demo Scene of today'c13f1. Most demos of today require 4 MB or more and the standard A1200 Sceners are not able to watch those productions anylonger. c11 SUMMING UP c13Of course there still is some contact between the five Scene parts but these contacts get more fragile with every month which passes. Unlike the early Scene of 1992 and back, when all the parts were still firmly attached to eachother, the Scene of today is getting smaller. First of all this happens because of the c12lack of new Sceners c13who enter the Scene and the departure of Sceners to other Scene's such as the PC Scene. The examples are many. Secondly and last the c12deviding of the Scene into parts is even worse c13for the size of the Scene as the first named reason, because per part we only have a few percent of the entire Scene. The Scene gets attacked by these two reasons and gets smaller and smaller because of those reasons. Especially the second reason is irreversable. When the contacts are really lost they will be lost for ever. The Scene parts sure have a destructive force on the Scene as a whole.
