What does this remind the Productivity-Fanatic off? Yes, this mag follows into the actual screenmode. After having made out this difference to ALL the other diskmags around, it is easy to figure out what the first few lines of the editorial will feature... Correct. Another hitter. 'f4Apart from this (some minor bugs) the Multitasking works correctly, just try it while using some Docks or menus with MagicWorkbench.f1' c03Brainwasherc01 is eager to tell the astounded reader in his editorial. It seems like they are somehow proud on this little premiere and - to honsetly spoken - they can. The mag followed into every Workbench, I tried to squeeze it in. This makes it much easier for me to this review, background processes work properly and (best of it all) the funky music by Ferdinand gets enlightenly speed up in a multitasking situation - although even in the slowed down version it seems a little too fast for a relaxed read. c03Brainwasherc01, who seemingly is only capable to finish a decent editorial but also to code a mag in such a fashion, moreover inserted a background (envy!), seperation lines, the obligatory font-handling, cliparts and even Supertext found its way into the code. The Search-function isn't available yet, still the excuse when trying is worth a read. The tasty design has been pixeled out mainly by Geist, supported by cliparts from (underneath more) c03 Kyle c01 & c03Cash/Mentasmc01. The famous c03 Photos c01inserted himself into the painters list for having done the simple yet layout introductiory logo. All in all one has to admit that they kept agood eye on the layout, in a fashion that all colours are held in soft tones, which surely give an appealling view. c02 CONTROL? NONE. c01The stearing seems a little overmotivated as it confusingly fast gets onto the plan when one carelessly nears the borders. After several desperate tries to read an article without suddenly finding my clumsy self in the Epilogue, I deceided to keep my hands off the mouse. A trick, I can nothing but recommend to all readers. The scrolling inside the articles however gets ennervingly slow, when just browsing through some pages. A try to chain the reader to an article? No, I don't feel so. Supposedly, it has just to do with the system-conformity. Still, I would love to see some slight improvements there. c02 MAG? MESSAGEBOX? CHARTS! c01Although it is announced to be a diskmag, one first gets to know their ideas about messageboxes ('f4The Scene is almost dead and messages are far better spread over Internet.f1'), secondly, they do not think that there is a space for them next to RAW and c03ROM c01 ('f4Furthermore the support, they get, seems to decayf1') and so one finally comes to know their conclusion out of this: Another chart is born, mainly in the hands ofc03 Napoleonc01 and c03Dire c01 (who also wrote most of the articles) as votecollectors plus a website which enables live-voting. Funny enough there ain't traces of charts so far, except for a big essay about sense and nonsense of charts in common. At least they stand upright enough to admit that they are just to lazy and do not want to invest the time, needed to have a regular diskmag. For the first issue, they basically restricted the contents to the obligatory partyreport corner plus a large (and filled by curiosities) 'Real Live'-part. I do not want to judge if a discussion on how to get oneself a girl still is needed in a diskmag, yet as this very topic interested man since sitting- on- the-trees (a habbit not unknown to some Sceners of today), there must be a place in a mag, too. Well... The news section is concentrating on a few news from (socalled) important groups (like c03 Artwork c01 ;-) ) and in fact, they seem to be rather new. Still the remembrance of a small cousin fromc03 ROM c01does not get out of my illfated mind. c02 SUMMING UP c01The relevancy of this mag to the Scene is so far of rather subliminal quality. If they would continue like this, I must say, one cannot see a bright future for c03 RAGEc01!. Its qualities as a chart, it still has to prove, yet with the overwhelming position of c03 Showtimec01, there keeps being the danger of being just one further intimefriend-circle chart. Then I would call this splendid piece of magcode and design a waste of talent. There remains the question, if the Scene actually is dying in your point of view - why still releasing a chart, huh?
