Just when this special focus on c11Terrox c13as regular editor for Generation was finished, I received this short message from him saying it is over for him. He is a quitter. He is history. For the Scene. Reason enough to rework everything and write a reminiscence about an almost ten years lasting career of Terrox as Amiganer, which now has ended so tragically. Just after having gained new motivation and ideas, the Norwegian found more important aims for his activities. My alias is tErrOx, and I am - as you are, a CO-Editor for c11RAWc13." f1This were the beginning words of the letter he has written to me in his contacting letter on the 30.12.94. At that time he was quite a new face in the Scene. Still he already had been discovered by c11Lord Helmetc13, who did not only visit him but also made him editor for RAW. We shall never know why he - who had an Amiga since 1987 - first got interested in the Scene only from Christmas 1993 on. Still, once having become interested, he showed enormous activities to join the Scene and by chance, Helmet was the first Scener he got contact to. What a brilliant starter for a promising carrer, but surely luck was not always with him. c12f3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa f1The aim number one is secret, but it shouldn`t be too hard to guess. I just say Static Bytes! You probably had the same feeling in the beginning of your career, normally this aim will decrease during the long run...In the beginning it`s more important. Terrox (quote from a personal letter) f3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa f1c13Yes, Terrox - who finally finished his navy-services in July 1996 and who originally planned to get real active again after that - was ambitious and in the first place he learned to serve the rules of this - our - Scene. He once even asked me if I could advise him how to behave when talking to other editors and which diskmags should be supported to get ahead. Concerning his Scene activity in 1996, he then joined c11Session c13and gave the organizer, while trying to get time for raytracing and composing. With the sudden death of RAW and the rages between c11Astro c13and Helmet on one side and Terrox on the other, (f4"The news (of Raw's end) was received from a trader"f1) he thought about making an own diskmag. Yet after finding out that f4"this was no use as there are so many diskmags around, which are very good"f1, he changed mind and ended up with what he calls f4"the most powerful diskmag team at the moment"f1, the Generation Staff. The position of the 21 year-old computer-science student within the editor-circles was controversial. He himself boasted his postion and used the term of a main-editor for RAW. For most other editors, he rather seemed to be follower for the copyslave to Helmet called c11Kingpinc13, after that fellow was fed up with his old job. Still, even if this would have been the case, it was no one less than Terrox to perform the famous way of RAW-layout. Moreover, he - who himself does not claim to be a skilled writer - started the wellknown and very interesting section where Sceners of a certain type were asked to judge their colleagues. Sure highlight here certainly the f4"Editors about Editors" f1in RAW#9. Here he managed to catch some of the most imposing writers (due ability or argueability) of that time to give an interesting insight about likes and dislikes within the publishing Scene. c12 TERROX AS PERSON c13He describes himself a f4"typical always thinking guy"f1, who likes to organize and to take the leading role. To get in contact with him was easy for his high 'chatability', making each mail a huge standalone novell full of strangenesses and anecdotes. He's hard to follow as he jumps from topic to topic. On the other hand, however, Terrox also is a very critic watcher who sometimes got himself into critics for that. f4"But," f1he expresses, f4"they who deserve it get positive feedback." f1As most of us he has not reached his primar goal in live: f4"I have given up to try to understand girls - they really are some cute strange human beings." f1What remains is to make clear that I have to wave Good-bye to a loyal folksman, goodwilled and ambitious.
