$ffa|2-WTS |1-Have You Heard of Them?! $fff by Šave Šiamond/!nvaders $affWay back to when i used to have a a500 it sprang to mind that in a couple of months the amiga market could be for the 1200 users as specs for games are becoming higher and higher,i know i thought ill do the best thing and get a 1200. Looking through cu amiga there were lots of tempting offers-packs with free disks,cheaper etc after consideration i was down to two companys hobyte and wts electronics ltd,wts had a more reasonable offer for 1200`s with hard drives so i opted for them,send off a cheque and waited.2 weeks passed and i thought something might have gone wrong so i phoned them,after 5 minutes waiting someone picked up the phone,confirmed my order and said that theres a shortage of computers (due to commodore going bust at that time) but we do have them here and they`ll take about 28 days delivery as said on the ad (in VERY small print). So i waited again and recieved,no not my computer but a letter confirming my order,a month passed,the 28 days were up,no sign of my 1200 so yes i phoned them again,got through after another 5 mins waiting,ill just check said the guy-i waited,and waited for 15 minutes,no one answered my call so i hung up.Thats it i thought what a crappy business i want my money back as they broke my contract,recieved a letter the computer will be with you soon!! never mind that i want my cash,3 MONTHS later i was still pissed off and learned that the company was basically a shack that looked like a bomb had hit it,wts were conning me and other folk out of their cash and not giving them anything. $afa My parents phoned cu amiga of which the ad was in,apparently wts have given them trouble with money (i wont say what) and said that the best thing to to is to contact the asa (advertising standards authority) we did they had moved,we tracked them down and recieved a reply basically saying we need proof,Fine we sent them copies of the letter etc,at this time i got in touch with a solicitor (which my mother works for) and we planned to sue for fraud,after another 3 months various news came,the guy in charge of wts knows the ins and outs of the law and manipulated it to his advantage (delaying tactics) my solicitor was miffed as they got a letter ignoring the charges. About a month later a source (which wont be named for legal reasons) gave us information that the company were being delt with,and that they`re VERY well known to them,it was also revealed that people in france had problems with the company,AMIGA COMPUTING magazine printed three letters from pissed off readers who have gone through the same problem i have-the magazine was also pissed as they were getting fed up,more information was that over 700 people had complained to the asa about wts!! $faf 10 months later,a court apointment-they didnt show up,a week later wts wrote to my solicitor saying they couldn`t make it and to arrange another time-we did, they didnt show up,they wrote back to the court (!) saying that THEY want to see US in court-we showed up,they didnt,another letter from them to go to court where they are (some 4 hours drive) no way i thought they woudn`t show up anyway,we contacted the court in luton (where they`re based) they wrote back saying that they are fed up with hearing about wts as thats all they ever deal with. 11 months since i sent the cheque i was told that they were featured on short change a programme like watchdog and the cook report,more bad news for bbc2 as when they got there they were refused a interview and told to ccome back tommorow,they did-wts were shut!!! they even sent computers to customers,but when opened didn`t work.The man who`s in charge of wts was arrested and held in custordy for a few hours after police seen the footege on short change. $aff Even a child with M.S saved up for a computer and never got anything.It is now a year since that time of saying goodbye to my (mothers) cash,we`re still waiting to see what happens,but i guess in the back of my mind i know im not going to see that money again,i have my 1200 (NOT FROM WTS) but from the guys at silica,some more info? ok i wrote to commodore asking if there were any amigas around then (which there were) but they never wrote back-thanks.I guess you find out who will help you when you go to court and who wont-its a shame that i and many other people have to do this. $fff UPDATE..just a few days after writting this the county court have sent me my money back from wts,the figure which isnt right will at least cover the computer and some court fees.The reason i wrote this article was for me to express my views on the swines that fooled me and hundreads more into purchasing goods from them,its also to warn you the reader about this and many other shady companies,yes i know you dont know who they are untill its too late but try and get someone to pay by credit card (mind you with wts it wouldn`t make a difference [Maybe not, but if it's over £100 then you're guaranteed your money back from the Credit Card Company, so at least you don't miss out completely. - F.ed] ) and if possible write to the magazine which advertised them and try to clarify if they`re reliable.I also wish to inform potential buyers that DONT send cash to wts or their new name COMPUTER EXPRESS otherwise you`ll be writing this too. $faf Have you delt with wts,do you know someone who has,if you`ve had any luck then write to me,i look forward to hearing from you. $fff End.
