@1 THIS REVIEW WAS RELEASED VIA DIDSMAG AND IS USED IN AZ WITH PERMISSION @2 CHILLY CHAVEZ. --------------@5 Programmed by: Richard Moore Released Via : F1 Licenceware Cost: £5.99 @6 Ever since the glowing preview in MAC 5, Chilly Chavez was tipped as the up and coming AMOS game to watch. And now, DidsMag proudly brings you (what I think) is the exclusive first review. Chilly is a mexican jumping bean who has to rescue his family from the hands of pedro, the mad chef who intends to make them into chilly sauce. Scary! So Chilly sets off around the world to beat him up. The game plays very similar to the AMOS Classic Charlie Chimp, (Long standing readers will know I am very fond of old CC) and I think that Chilly Chavez is probably better. If Chilly Chavez completed with Charlie Chimp in a horse race however, it would only win by a nose. The graphics are gorgeous through out the whole game. People who thought the bad dues in CC were intelligent had better think again. In Chilly Chavez they are probably the most intelligent platform bad dudes I have seen (Bar GODS and the CHOAS ENGINE). For example on the Arabian levels there are two Arabian soldiers with scimitars walking along the bottom of the screen. They can throw their sword at you, breath fire on the floor, and jump about after you. The game is fairly tricky. Chilly has 6 spins in where he turns into a human whirlwind. Any bad due he hits gets mashed! But every life he can only do the spin 6 times. The guardians are very impressive, and to give you an example, Spikey the hedgehog, in the jungle, can trun into a human morning star (for those thickies who don't know what one is it is the spikey end of a MACE or Chain MACE (See DidsMag is not just cool, its educational too)- Anyway.) who can bounce round the screen and is invincible from your bananna attacks apart from when he uncurls. Anyway I haven't much space, so I'll just go straight to the verdict. (There is so much you can say about Chilly Chavez.) @5 Graphics: 94% Gorgeous Guardains, Backdrops and sprites Sound: 88% Good samples but irritating title music Gameplay: 93% It's tops. One of the best Amos platformers. Lasting Interest: 90% A fun game you'll keep coming back to. Overall Rating: 93% Brilliant. @4 If you have the TOME and CTEXT expansions you can get the source for only £6.00 from: Rick Moore, 225 Auckland Drive, Chelmsly Wood, Birmingham , B36 OWL. @1 Did.
