THE ULTIMATE QUIZ II - CREATING A DATA DISK - HELP DOC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So you want to create your own DATA disk to either play yourself or sell to other users of the game ? Well fear no more as there now follows a complete guide to help you out on your quest ! (so to speak) I have set this document out in easy to follow STEPS ! Hopefully you should be creating DATA Disks with ease. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- STEP 1: Make a BackUp Copy of your original DATA Disk. NEVER use your original disk. (I won't patronise you anymore) ;^) STEP 2: Read the Doc File on the GAME Disk named: QB_Creators.Doc Once you fully understand the process of creating your Question Blocks, then we can begin. STEP 3: I will assume that you have created your questions now !!! Save your Question Blocks to your BackUp Copy of your DATA Disk in the Directory named: QUESTIONS/ (Overwriting the files named: QBLOCK-01.Data through QBLOCK-05.Data ) STEP 4: Next you will need to think about some music for the game ! Either compose your own music or get some from F1 LICENCEWARE ! The music modules are normal Protracker format and should be saved to your BackUp Copy of your DATA Disk inside the Directory named: MUSIC/ (Overwriting the files named: mod.Intro and mod.GameOver ) WARNING: DO NOT SAVE THEM AS POWER PACKED FILES AS THE GAME CANNOT LOAD FILES OF THIS TYPE ! IF YOU GOT YOUR MODULES FROM A DISK FULL OF MODS, THEN CHANCES ARE THAT IT WILL BE CRUNCHED WITH POWER- PACKER ! YOU WILL NEED TO DeCRUNCH IT BACK ONTO THE DISK TO ENSURE 100% COMPATIBILITY ! IF YOU DON'T OWN POWER PACKER OR DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT (it's easy by the way) THEN PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL PD LIBRARY FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION. STEP 5: Great, your new DATA disk is taking shape. Now you want everyone to know that you are responsible for all the hard work - don't you ? Yeah ! What better way to tell everyone than an IFF picture on the screen which has YOUR name all over it ?!?! Please load the file in the DATA disk's PICTURES Directory named: Intro-Pic.iff into any paint package for the correct size etc. WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU LOAD THIS FILE INTO YOUR PAINT PACKAGE BEFORE YOU START TO CREATE YOUR OWN PICTURE AS IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT REGARDING BOTH THE SIZE AND THE RESOLUTION OF THE PICTURE. When you have finished your masterpiece, just save it to your BackUp Copy of your DATA Disk in the Directory named: PICTURES/ (Overwriting the file named: Intro-Pic.iff ) Your DATA disk should now be ready for spreading around to everyone ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Tips: ~~~~~~~~~ So you have a new DATA Disk ready to play ? Want to earn some cash ? Well, why not send F1 LICENCEWARE a copy of it to distribute for you ? If the disk is accepted, you will receive 25% royalties for every copy sold ! Yes, 25% ! I won't go into the rules/regulations on this subject as more detailed information can be obtained from F1 LICENCEWARE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy Gibson (AGAS Productions)
