The Guitar Song Book Vol1 has been written and compiled using the wonderful Amos Pro V2 (which tends to crash a little), on a really old 1meg A500 running under Wb 1.3 with a knackered RAM: expansion. Preface ~~~~~~~ I make no excuses for the simple design of this program and the songs held within it. This program was really designed with the beginner and fun guitarist in mind, or anyone else who is happy just to get a recognisable tune from all their effort. However I would at this point like to apologise for this doc. After writing the GCDir, M2T, Bar Chord and Guitar Tuner Docs over the last 7 days I'm starting to get a little bit fed-up with bloody docs, and to be honest I can't wait to get this, the last one finished and get to bed before 4am, for the first time in ages. I'm sure that if you persist with it you might find something of interest, but I'm not promising anything. This program contains 22 classic songs spanning over 30 years. Most you will probably know, or if you are stuck you could always rummage through your Grandad's record collection (those warped black disks with the little hole in the middle), and see what you can find. Once a song has been selected from the menu you are confronted with what can only described as a front page telling you the song and author. Hit a mouse and you get the song. I've done this because when I first started to play, I became very dependent on the chord box and never really remembered any chord for long. Then someone gave me a book with the songs displayed as above, and to my surprise found I picked up new chords a lot easier and faster. Printing ~~~~~~~~ Something that I used to hate before I managed to save up a few quid and get a printer was hitting a programs print option by mistake, and then having to reboot because the damn thing froze solid.  This cannot happen with this program if you just follow one simple golden rule:- If you haven't got a printer don't use the Initialize Printer option from the menu. I've also added several Print Style Options: NLQ, Bold, Draft, Condensed, Subscript and Superscript. Special thanks must go to Kev Hales for his extensive printer knowledge and help with the above option. Printer Compatibility ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The GOOD NEWS is that anyone using an EPSON or EPSON compatible printer should be able to use the different print styles with no problem at all. But if you know different then please let me know. And now for the BAD NEWS if you are using an Ink Jet, Laser or basically any none Epson type printer. Attempting to print in any Style other than Draft (default) may result in a lot of garbage on the page, or in other words, they won't work in a correct manner. Kev has tried to explain in great detail why my code refuses to work on these printers, but, it goes right over my head. Initializing Printer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you select the "Initialize Printer" option from the menu, make sure that the printer is turned on. The program will first look for a Hard Drive [DH0:]. If however it cannot locate a hard drive, Song book will then check DF0: for the following files. Devs/Parallel.Device /Printer.Device L/Port-Handler Make sure your original boot disk is in DF0: otherwise the Song book may crash. Getting Some Print ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once Initialized, select the print Style that you require and choose a song. Click the LMB where it says Print at the top of the screen and away we go. o o o O o o o Updates/Bug fixes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ F1 Licencware version: 7-2-95 o Updated/added loads of chords. o Fexed lowds of spulling mistokes!! o Printer routine completly re-written. Now more friendly with little or no garbage produced when using non Epson compatible printers. o Unfortunately now needs 1meg to run due to F1's screen.
