For AM/FM - Amiga Musicians Freeware Magazine  AM/FM Special Disk #1 (1993)  As far as I know this piece written by Strauss was a reflection of ideologies and theories at a time in Austria and Germany's history which influenced many artists in their work during this period. Other notable German composers such as Wagner also composed works which expounded this "Master Race" concept! The title 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' is the original title of a book by the German Philospher Nietzsche, and it was the content of his impure ideas of supremacy which influenced another infamous person with a distinctive black mustache under his nose, Hitler! Besides the music's powerful propagander and political sentiments, 'Also Sprach Zarathustra'0m has been used for numerous media events including the Cinema, Radio and T.V. - I wonder if they realize the power of this particular score? Anyway, one film maker who employed this score to amazing effect was Stanley Kubrick in his film '2001:A Space Odyssey'. And yes, I'm sure Kubrick was well aware of the political connatations in juxtapostioning this music with gigantic space craft whirling around like a magic fun fair. More importantly however, is Kubrick's skillful use of the music to convey a majestic scene in the Space of the Future - truely an awesome experience!
