                    About the General MIDI Patcher, v1.1)

This  program, along with a nice letter, was submitted to us directly from the
author, Christophe Carvajal.  Here's what he had to say about it:


I have created a sound editor for Roland General Midi / GS synthesizers (which
works  on:   Sound  Canvas SC55, SC55 MK2, JV30, SC155, JW50, SD35....).  This
software  enables  you  to  create  a wide range of brand new sounds for those
machines.   After  creating them, you can store them and reload them into your
Amiga and send them to your synthesizer.

This  is  a  demo-version (still called version 1.1) for AM/FM readers and now
the program supports the new SC55-MK2 and several little bugs were corrected.

At the present time this program is unique on Amiga.

The sound editing is fully mouse-driven and very easy to use.  You can pick up
new  sounds  directly  from  menus and change a lot of parameters (like REVERB
TYPE  /  CHORUS  /  PAN  /  VOLUME  PER  CHANNEL / ATTACK / DECAY...  and even
parameters that you can't edit from your synthesizer's buttons!).

The  documentation  for  the program is writtten in English and a year of free
updates  is  provided  when you buy the program (it is priced at £50 including
postage).

Because  General  Midi  is being more and more used all around the world, this
program  has  a large success.  I decided to send you this 99% working version
(with  the  "save  options"  disabled) for you to test General Midi Patcher in
your columns.  It has already been tested in several Amiga Mags and they found
it useful.


AM/FM-Editor back on the line...

First  of  all  Christophe, thanks for sending the material directly to us.  I
have  to  admit,  I  don't  have  any  synthesizers which use the General Midi
standard,  so it was not possible for me to perform a thorough test and review
of  the software, but from what I've seen, it looks excellent, and I'm sure it
will  be  VERY  useful  for anyone owning one or more synths using the General
Midi standard.
