I sent my Amiga 3000 in to them for repairs. When they called me with an estimate it was $100 more than other companies charged. So, in keeping with their "free estimate" policy, I asked for the system to be returned. When I received it back the inside mounting plates for the drives and power supply were bent, obviousely not a shipping accident. The motherboard and hard drive were not mounted down, they just layed inside the case. Upon futher inspection I noticed the motherboard was not mine. Not only that but my updated ROMS which cost me $60 were no longer there. I called them and told them about this and they just asked me to send it to them to be repaired. Considering the dammage I decided they knew little about repair and declined the offer. I recomend that if you have computer problems that you make sure to AVOID THIS COMPANY! I just can't say in enough. I did this many many years ago when I had to send the C64 in for repairs. I also had jiffy dos installed and I didn't want to get ripped. I would bring some sort of action against the Co. The sad thing is they will continue to do this until someone takes action against them. -- Matt Costanza MattC@Diablo.Sps.Mot.Com Motorola Inc - Information Systems - Network Support ----- Networks "R" Us -------- Article 1995 of alt.sources.amiga: Newsgroups: alt.sources.amiga Apparently-to: dkeenan@esu.edu Subject: WARNING!!! We have 8 amiga's in our video studio and A&M has been our prime repair center.... good ole audrey eh? We had a video problem (no red output) in one of our A3000's and she said they'd have to replace the MB. $495 and a week or two later I get it back.... no boot. I open it up and lo and behold the HD is just flopping around in there. Fortunately it survived, I remounted it and all is OK. In the process I noticed that 3 screws were missing on the MB mounting but it was still reasonably secure. We ship these units all the time, first occurance. I called and got all kinds of "oh, we test every unit, must be FEDEX". I like to give benefit of the doubt but your post is rather collaborative. Thanks for the word.
