According to several Commodore dealers i have spoken to, unless you
have the Gold Service level 2 or greater (the ones you actually pay
MONEY for) Gold Service will not do much more than fix your computer
if the new-computer warranty still applies. They do not guarantee
depot-to-depot service for level 1, nor do they guarantee the speed of
the repair.

Short: If you have Gold Service Level 1 (the FREE service) it has
ceased to exist in its current form, aside from new computer warranty
policies.

Why: The company that does the service is restructuring the whole
service contract and policies with Commodore. Only if you PAY for
your Gold Service will you get Gold Service guarantees. This means
that if you want Gold Service, no matter WHAT the books INSIDE the
computer's box say, you must take Gold Service level 2 or greater.

Commodore sucks.

Hey All,

I see many of you have posted comments concerning experience with Gold
Service. Oh well, it looks great on paper. I had read all the posts
about long turn-around and signed up for Level II. I just assume never
use it but would go nuts with the long turn-around....

I have been considering adding a CPU cooler. I'm sorry that C-A went
with the cheeper heat sink. Have you added a fan? Where did you put it?

I recently called Whirlpool (800 help #) to order a belt for my 12 year
old washing machine.

They were friendly, curteous and actually seemed eager to help (`nah
don't get a new machine - just replace the belt').

I received the belt within 3 days - a few days later I received a Survey
letter (with self-addressed return envelope) asking for my opinions about
the customer service.

Makes me want to keep buying Whirlpool - maybe there's something to this
customer service thing.....

I think this varies country by country. My A4000 Gold Service
documentation listed two choices to select from: Level I (on-site
repair on next business day) and Level II (Priority Depot Repair, for
those not within 50 km of a service center). There was no mention
whatsoever about paying for either one; also, note that Level I is
"better" than Level II in this case.
