Night's Pawns: Necromancy For Shadowrun

[Necromancy In The Sixth World]

This is the meat, kids -- seems that Necromancy is alive and well and living, well... pretty much everywhere. And as the bits and pieces I've gathered up indicate... That is NOT a Good Thing. Unlike the mostly academic scut I pulled together for the information on Ghosts, this is a bit more eclectic: and very few of these pieces were drawn from publicly available sources. My friend Silence, an Owl Shaman and ex-merc has had some experience in coping with the fallout of both Necromancy and it's nastier cousins, and with the aid of some "Books the original owners had no further use for", he's gathered together some of the info on what's what among the Deadites in Seattle. Including some glimpses of how the spell-slingers of Death Magics have to say about themselves. So without further ado, I'll turn you over to him... -- GP.

Heyaz, Shadowland... whilst in semi-retirement at the moment, I've had some chance to go over some of the things I, GP, and several others have collected on the issue of Necromancy and it's related fields, and GP has prevailed on me to put all our notes into some sort of order so he can pipe 'em onto Shadowland. After looking at the whole picture, I couldn't agree more. As to what it has to do with the average runner... well, let's put it this way: Necromancy involves dealing with the Spirits of the Dead, so the more Dead there are, the more power is in the hands of Necromantic Magicians, and way too many Necro's do all they can to increase their power as quickly as possible. It's bad enough that the Star and the Corps are after Runners... it'd cut HEAVILY into our profit margins if we get classified as Free Buffet's for Spirits on a regular basis, and that's a real possibility...

Anyway, before I get into the data on how Necromancers look at themselves, and a little of what they're up to, I thought we could dig into what the Powers That Be have to say on the issue... first off, GP has kindly provided a chunk of a presentation given to Lone Star Officers going through training to be in their Magical Crimes Division. It provides a basic overview of the legal status on Necromancy... not that most runners give a drek about legality, but if the Deadites are pushed out of the law-abiding territories, they end up in the same Shadows we swim in, so forewarned is forearmed an' all that... -- Silence
