Click on/off to select which MIDI Channels the Wave Blaster will respond to. Used to isolate multiple MIDI modules that share the same MIDI line. If no other synths share the MIDI line, all channels should be set to ON (note icon). Click on/off to select which MIDI Channels the Wave Blaster will accept Program Change messages. Leave ON (note icon) unless there are Program Change conflicts with other MIDI devices sharing the same MIDI line and channel. Mix Output. Selects which of the Proteus outputs the selected channel will send the audio. M=Master, 1=Sub1, 2=Sub2, P=PresetPreset can be set by the Mix Output control at the top middle ofthe CONTROLS page. No effect on Wave Blaster Proteus. Master Tune. Adjust overall tuning of all presets. Range is +/- one semitone in 1/64th semitone increments. A setting of 00 (middle of slider) perfectly tunes to concert pitch of A=440 Hz. Global Transpose. Transposes key of all presets in half-step intervals. The range is +/- 12 semitones, or 1 octave. Global Pitch Bend Range. Sets the range of the Pitch Wheel as routed to control pitch (PATCHES page). Maximum range is +/- 12semitones. Only affects presets which have their individual pitch bend range set to Global (CONTROLS page). Play Sequencer Transpose. Transposes play sequencer notes by 5th & octave intervals, up and down. Play Sequencer Tempo. Sets overall tempo of the Play Sequencer. Play Sequencer Sustain. Selects note on / off ratio. Minumum setting is 1 MIDI clock on, remainder off; maximum setting is one tick off, remainder on. Play Sequencer Velocity. Sets MIDI velocity value for notes played by the play sequencer. Velocity only affects parameters that have been patched with the Key/Velocity input set to Velocity (PATCHES page). Usually set to control volume level. on/off: right mouse button alternately starts, stops play seq. while: play sequencer plays only when right button is down. cycle: when right button pressed, an 8 note cycle will play. single: a single note is played while right button is held down.Controls the play sequence of the 8 source notes. random: random selection of the next note in play sequence. next: notes are played sequencially. first: only the first of the play notes (above on/off) plays. Click to assign transposition, tempo, velocity, or volume to mouse cursor position. Up/down arrow assigns mouse vertical position, with top being highest. Left/righ arrow assigns mouse horizontal with right being highest. Dot reassigns to slider. These eight notes are the source for the play sequencer. Dial left or right to change. MIDI Play Channel. This channel is used by the Play Sequencer to audition sounds. It must be set to a MIDI channel that is enabled (Channel Enable). Automatically set to the lowest enabled channel when enable switches are changed. MIDI Control Channel. On multiple module setups that use a MIDIswitcher that responds to MIDI Program Change, the switcher's control channel can be set here and the program change values can be set below. Should be set to "none" if not in use. Global Velocity Curve. Modifies key velocity data according to one of 4 curves. Select Off to leave velocity ulaltered. Only affects presets which have their individual velocity curve set to Global (CONTROLS page). Omni: responds to notes from all channels, presets on Play Chan.Poly: responds to notes & preset changes on Play Channel only. Multi: responds to all enabled channels (usually best mode). Mono: as Multi, but plays legato. Good for guitar controllers. MIDI Mode Change. Selects whether or not MIDI Mode Change commands are accepted or ignored when received over MIDI. Usually best to set to Disabled as a safety feature. MIDI Modes (directly above) are Omni, Poly, Multi, and Mono. MIDI Overflow. If more than the available 32 simultaneous notesare played, the extra notes can be directed to the MIDI Out. ON enables this feature, OFF disables it. Leave OFF unless a second synth is available to "catch" the overflow. MIDI Controller Assign. Any of 4 MIDI controllers 0-31 can be assigned in addition to dedicated Volume (7) and Pan (10). Factory Presets only use 1=Modulation Wheel. Other standards: 2=Breath Ctl, 4=Foot Pdl, 6=Data Slider, 11=Expression. MIDI Footswitch Assign. Any of 3 MIDI on/off switch controllers(64-79) can be assigned. Factory Presets only use 64=Sustain. Other standards: 65=Poratmento, 66=Sustenuto, 67=Soft Pedal. Destinations for all Controller Assigns are in the PATCHES page.Select a Proteus Module according to Proteus ID number. Only active when multiple Proteus Modules are installed. Highlighted yellow number is current module, grey numbers are inactive. Select a green number (if available) to change. Save current setup. Check indicates setup has been altered, changes to dot after Save. Setups are not sent to the synth until you select Save from this menu or from the automatic Save popup menu. Exception: Keep sends current preset. Discard current setup. Same as Redo for all menus at once. Warning: All changes made since last Save will be discarded. Register a Proteus module according to Proteus ID number. Used for adding additional Proteus modules to Paladin. Each must have a unique ID # (settable in Master menu on Proteus). Two way MIDI connection (In & Out) required for registering. If there are more Setup files than can be seen in the file load area, this will scroll through them. Load a Setup. Click on the name of the setup you want to load into the WB and Paladin. A Setup is a full personality for the Wave Blaster; all settable parameters are updated. "Create" in the File menu will make a backup copy of the current Setup. Erase a Setup and/or Library file. The DEFAULT files and the currently active file are protected. Create a new Setup or Library file. Several file cloning options; can download existing setup from the Wave Blaster. Exit Paladin. If files have been modified, a popup Save menu gives the option to Save or Discard or Cancel the exit. Use mouse or keyboard to select the option. Keyboard Alt-X or ESC also will exit Paladin from any main page. If there are more Library files than can be seen in the library file load area, this will scroll through them. Makes a Library current but does not load it into Wave Blaster. Library presets can be copied into and from the current Setup from the LIBRARY page. Library files are standard MIDI dump format, allowing easy importation of preset libraries. All Notes Off. Sends MIDI All Notes Off signal to all channels. Set Launch File. Up to four different programs can be launched from within Paladin. Handy for quickly switching between playingand editing the presets. File may be in any directory or disk. Launch another program. Paladin will remove itself from memory,launch the program, then restore itself when the program exits. Use * above to select the program to launch. Quicker switching if EMS found or if TEMP, TMP or PALSAV is SET to a RAMDISK. Dither Play Note. Randomly bump play sequencer notes by 1, 2, or 3 octaves about 25% of the time. Gives a sprinkling of high notes while auditioning a preset. Chords. The play sequencer produces three notes at a time: the base note, a second note that is a major third above the base, and a third note that is a perfect fifth above the base note. Remarks Enable. Adjusts the duration of the change from the full +/- ammount level down to the percentage of that ammount as set by sustain. Auxiliary Envelope Sustain Level. Adjust the level of the sustain part of the envelope as a percentage of the Auxilliary Envelope Ammount setting. Auxiliary Envelope Release. Adjust the duration of the change from the level at note-end down to zero. Faster notes will release from the moving attack-hold-decay level, slower notes will release from the sustain level. Auxiliary Envelope Amount. Adjust the maximum positive or negative level. Negative (red area) settings invert the envelope. Zero level effectively disables. Auxiliary Envelope Delay.
