Basically, what I wanted to do was create a file which contains a short one or two sentence summary of each game that appears on RELEASES. This way as new titles get added that weren't in my megasummary of CES a few issues ago, you'll still be able to know what's coming out beyond just a title. I reserve the right to be wrong too! Sometimes, the vendor hasn't supplied me with much information, and I'll do my best to fill in the blanks, but generally, if a title is blank for an issue, I'll just say UNKNOWN for the time being. In the next issue, it's likely I'll have found out more about it. I'm also planning on formatting this by company. You'll the new Access titles listed first, then Accolade, Activsion, etc. and so on through to XOR Corporation. I'll try to maintain it that way, plus indicate new additions to the list (in the next edition after this) with an asterisk or something. You get the picture. If you have any questions, you know how to reach me. Also, beAnd now, on with the show... ACCESS SOFTWARE Links 2.0 Significant upgrade to the original Links that will include new features like tournament mode, left and right handed players, great shot saves, spin on shots, better replay capabilities, plus many more. It's a feature rich upgrade, but Links will still remain the same as far as play is concerned. Links CDROM This will be essentially Links 2.0 on CDROM, possibly running under the Windows 3.0 multimedia extensions. It may include flybys of the courses and holes you're playing, ala PGA Tour Golf. It will include many more sound samples, plus have all the current courses at that time all stored on the CD. Links Gold This will simply be a promotional offering of Links 2.0 with some extra courses, plus some promo golf material. A video tape of some kind of golf promotion is also being planned. No product changes beyond what Links 2.0 will be though. Links for Windows 3.0 Just what it says. It will likely run under the multimedia extensions, but not include all the features of the CDROM version. Major concern at this point is any potential sacrifice of animation speed. Links Course Designer A planned sophisticated course modeler including elevation and contour control. It will allow for the 3rd party creation of many new courses, but said results will not likely approach the beauty and detail of Access' own custom designed courses. Links Courses: Dorado Beach A beautiful course found in the Dominican Republic in the Carribean. It will have scenic seaside holes and beautiful challenge for Links players. (0*0*0*ԌLinks Courses: Barton Creek A Ben Crenshaw designed scenic hilly course found in Austin, Texas. This has one of the most scenic par threes in the world where you must accurately shoot over a waterfall to a tight green. Martian Memorandum Considered to be the sequel to Mean Streets. Very realistic rotoscoping animation and artwork accompany an unknown storyline at this time. It will feature Tex what'shisname solving another mystery. Dialog balloon boxes will offer you several different stories to follow, ala Monkey Island or Indy Jones from Lucasfilms. "Tennis" Access has stated that they are working on a tennis 'engine' similar in quality and presentation to what they have done with golf on Links. It is in early design stages, but they are committed to producing the finest tennis game, like they have produced the finest golf game. ACCOLADE Les Manley: Lost in L.A. For those who played and finished the first Les Manley: Search for the King, this story continues in 256 color digitized graphics where Les travels to L.A. to solve a mystery, specifically the kidnapping of the beautiful people, including Helmut Bean, the world's smallest man. Lot's o' gorgeous people abound, including characters modelled after honesttogoodness Playmates. Mmmm. Mike Ditka Power Football A great football simulation that will raise the ante even further. Smooth scrolling graphics with plenty of T.V. perspectives and the ability to create and model your own offensive and defensive strategy and plays. Great sound support and super graphics. This should be a big hit for Accolade. Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus Elvira's back and she's been kidnapped by a real bad guy (60 foot tall, threeheaded demon) this time, but the scene is on a movie set (choice of three sound stages to explore), and you must explore and rescue Elvira before terrible things happen. Warning: as in the first, this will contain gratutious violence and gore. (Party on dude!) Dogfight with Daredevils Unconfirmed and no further details at this time. Conspiracy: The Deadlock Files Mystery adventure set in N.Y city where you've been setup for a high ranking official's murder. Plenty of work for you to save yourself and NYC (do we really want to save NYC??). Actual digitized photos (over 350 actually) were used in setting the stage for Conspiracy. Been delayed for quite a while, so it's highly anticipated. ACTIVISION Sargon V Perhaps the most gorgeous and visually stunning chess games being made to date. Very strong player as well, acknowledge at this point to be in the grand master category. Plenty of options for tutoring new players (like me!) as well. (0*0*0*ԌBETHESDA SOFTWORKS NCAA Road to the Final Four The next attempt in a long line from many developers to create a realistic basketball simulation. This one is being programmed by the same developers who created (are creating) Earl Weaver Baseball 2, so it has good heritage. Plenty of coaching and statistical options about, but not at the sacrifice of graphics or presentation. The 64 team final tournament will be integral to the game. BRODERBUND Playmaker Football/PC Out on the Macintosh for quite a while now, this is not a "joystickwiggler", but moreso a strategic play selector type of sports simulation. You will establish your game plan and call your plays from the large playbook, and then based on the defense called, the players will act out on screen the results of your calls. Intelligent AI learns from your playcalling patterns to challenge you further. Similar to XOR's NFL Challenge, but graphically much more pleasing. Patton Strikes Back Being released almost simultaneously on the Mac and the PC, this will model to incredible detail the strategic Battle of the Bulge, fought in WW2. Wonderfully rendered strategic maps and animations of how your forces are doing over time. This is played in pseudoreal time (I mean that you can speed up or slow down the real time actions, decisions and results). For wargamers, it's a musthave. Accurately modeled after real historical events. The next game from Chris Crawford. Where in Space is Hans Solo Undetermined at this time, but originally was planned to be a "Carmen SanDiego" type of series, but you're exploring outer space. On the back burner for now. Ancient Art of War in the Skies AAWIS is the only "air combat" game I know of that accurately reflects the early real wars, by incorporating the fighters ability to handdrop bombs from a small, rickety plane without being shot down by an enemy fighter. Includes historical WW1 scenarios and opponents. May not be a megahit, but could be fun. The Treehouse Intended for younger kids, it's a followon program to a previous program called The Playroom. This will be enhanced significantly, however, to utilize today's sound cards and will also present 256 color graphics. It's a collection of fun little games, challenges and musical experiences for youngsters. Prince of Persia II Broderbund has committed that they have contracted the programming talents of Jordan Mechner of Prince of Persia fame to do a sequel. Nothing is known about the storyline at this point, but his mindboggling animation capabilities will be included. LodeRunner 1991 I'm making this title up, because there's a major campaign going on right now to try to convince Broderbund to do a remake of the original hit and bring it into the 90's(0*0*0* with VGA graphics, sound support, hard disk support, and other enhancements. Let the game stay the same, but update it with new mazes and challenges. Call Broderbund and tell anyone you can there (especially Doug Carlston) to do this! CALIFORNIA DREAMS Note: This company has unfortunately decided to not publish titles anymore, but rather focus only on development. The three titles listed below are definitely in the "ether" right now, but time will tell where they will show up. Ancient Glory This was originally (over a year ago) a title that was intended to model the society of Ancient Greece, and present sociological challenges that included Greek mythology. Nothing further is known at this time. Solidarity As one would expect, this is a simulation of the remarkable beginnings of the Polish "Solidarnosc" movement in the Gdansk shipyards that resulted in the complete overthrow of the Communist rule and the first domino to fall in Eastern Europe. Not much is known beyond this. Wreck Hunters This sounds like an intriguing title in which you must be a salvage expert and go on expeditions to recover lost fortunes. You will also encounter others doing the same, and pirates and scavengers will be obstacles along the way. More of RPG than anything else. DATAEAST Wide World of Sports Boxing A very attractive boxing "managerialplayer" sports simulation where training, management, and planning are every bit as important as your uppercut and right cross. As far as boxing goes, this one should prove to be very extensive. Bo Jackson Baseball Borrowing early technology from Cinemaware's now defunct T.V. Sports Baseball project, 'Bo' will offer very solid looking player and managerial capabilities, as well as a full suite of statistical options. You'll see some remarkable similaries between this and Tony LaRussa Ultimate Baseball from SSI. A controversy brewing here, I think. Ultrabots Sanction: Earth Programmed by Novalogic, this is one HOT looking title. You basically can control up to four robots on a combat mission to rid the earth of some alien invaders. Great inside "remote control" views are available. Two modes are available: Macrogaming where you match wits against your alien opponent in a strategic battle, or a microgaming level where you control the tactical movements of your robots in combat. Battlefield 2000 Also from Novalogic, this is a modern warfare tactical combat simulation using stateoftheart graphics and sound. Set in the year 2000, you control and face off against an awesome arsenal of weaponry and firepower over a threedimensional landscape. You must allocate resources, plan routes of attack, call in air support, and command a squadron of four vehicles. Great looking stuff here!(0*0*0*Ԍ DIGITEK Hext Nothing known at this time. Second World Pseudo adventure/RPG title released earlier this year in German only. More details later. U.S.S. John Young A naval simulation, but no details are being given yet as to the era of the ships involved. DISNEY SOFTWARE Dick Tracy An arcade shoot'emup type of game with Dick as the protagonist (what did you expect?) trying to even the score with Big Boy Caprice. You must hit the streets in search for clues and informants too. The Animation Studio Not a game, although this is a renowned animation system that will impress most gamers as well. Goes beyond Deluxe Paint Animate. Dog Eats Dog World Unannounced product at this time with no published storyline. Hare Raising Havoc An adventure game (not for youngsters) in which you enter into a Roger Rabbitlike cartoon world where you must solve typical adventure puzzles. The twist is you must always think like you're in a cartoon. Oustanding graphics, with Sound Source sound support. Roger Rabbit game for grown ups. Mickey's Memory Match A "Concentration"like game for young kids involving Mickey and your favorite Disney characters. Nice 256 color support, along with Sound Source. The Rocketeer A full scale adventure, but one in which you must master various parts of the movie. There is plane racing, typical characterinvolved puzzle solving, and flying your jetpack. Looks to be a really solid slick game. Roller Coaster Construction Set Unannounced product with no further details....but you can probably figure something out about it, right? Stunt Island: The Flying and Filming Simulation The player selects a plane, flies some outrageous stunts, then takes on the role of film director, which involves camera placement, choreography, directing, and editing. DYNAMIX The Adventures of Willie Beamish Incredibly animated adventure game (not first person as in(0*0*0* Rise of the Dragon) where you must help Willie B. meet his goal of competing in the "Nintari" video game championships. Stellar 7: CDROM All the great play of the original with full speech throughout. Aces of the Pacific The longawaited sequel to Red Baron. The second in the "Great Planes" series. This one will pit the American Pacific carrier forces against the Japanese in the WW2 Pacific theater. Expect nothing less than mindboggling. Nova 9 The sequel to Stellar 7 where you command even more awesome firepower tanks and take on more of Gir Draxon's forces. Similar game play. Rise of the Dragon II The next detective adventure series for our hero. No storyline known yet. Heart of China II Because the original is selling so well, Dynamix may bump this up in the priority list. No storyline yet. Red Baron Mission Disks Just like the name says. This will add a lot more playing life to an already terrific flightsim. ELECTRONIC ARTS Powermonger PC Out on the Amiga for some time now, it's an ancient "dominate or be dominated" kind of conquest game with incredible attention to detail. Weather is depicted and causal relationships abound throughout the game. Playable for years! Holmes vs. Moriarty An adventure game, but nothing more known at this time. Earl Weaver Baseball 2.0 One of two very heavy hitters in the baseball contingent. It's almost a complete rewrite from the original with stunning T.V.like graphics and almost unlimited viewing angles. Almost unlimited statistical capabilities and much more refined playing options as well. Car and Driver Not much known at this point, but similar in style to Test Drive III with a much better expected implementation. On the back burner for the time being. The Immortal Again from the Amiga, it's a dungeon/maze exploration adventure game with a unique 2/3rds overhead view perspective. Are We There Yet? A unique puzzlesolving game similar to The Fool's Errand where you must solve a variety of logic, word, and miscellaneous puzzles. Rings of Power Nothing known yet. (0*0*0*ԌEarthling By the author of the bestselling Centurion, this new hybrid action/adventure game pits the player to fight tactical space battles in order to save his cosmic Robin Hood type character. There are six races of aliens to deal with throughout the game. This should be a decent adventure. Birds of Prey Perhaps only an Amiga flight simulator with a wide variety of planes and missions to choose from, but may be coming to the PC next year too. 4D Boxing with TruMotion Basically, the U.S. release of 4D boxing with some EA enhancements thrown in. Since EA bought DSI, we will see more titles like this one, including tennis (we hope). RUMORS: EA is asking a LOT of questions lately about what they would like to see in the "next" great football game. This is an obvious conclusion to draw. A sequel to John Madden Football. Number 2? Who knows. Stay tuned here. ELECTRONIC ZOO Star Collection A greatest hits collection of arcade titles. Peghole A classic tactical game, but no further details are known at this time. Eco Phantoms An adventure game where you must struggle for earth's survival. Galactic Empire A space oddysey and simulation of interplanetary exploration and conquest. The Ball Game Been out from Europe for a while, but an interesting test of reflex and strategy. Kind of like "Battle Reversi". Geisha Just out from Europe, but a naughty look at the Orient of the future. EMPIRE SOFTWARE Team Yankee 2 Contrary to what has been described in certain places as this, this is a new, followon program to the original in which you control a battalion of tanks in a tactical and strategic mode against various enemies. Volfiev Adventure game (?), with no further details. Sleeping Gods Lie No further details Eye of the Storm Military strategy game. No further details. "Deathbringer" In quotes because the name is changing. No further details.(0*0*0*ԌThe Cool Croc Twins Adventure game. No storyline at this time. Campaign A very ambitious strategic military simulation with unknown theater of operations. Cyberspace A cyberpunk roleplaying/adventure game. No further details. EPYX Greetings Not really a game, but a Printshoptype of program, but probably worth consideration in the "leisure" category. Chip's Challenge This is a strategy game with 144 different levels. Solving a level involves collecting microchips with available tools wuch as keys, magnets, shields, and cleats. There are plenty of barriers to keep you from accomplishing your goal. This is a thinking man's arcade game. Lot's of fun and similar to Sokoban and Lode Runner in style. FTL Dungeon Master / PC This may be the most acclaimed game on the Amiga of all time, and it's finally coming to the PC. What Eye of the Beholder was patterned after, DM is a first person dungeonexploring game with plenty of twists. To ensure quality sound effects for all, those without a sound adapter will be able to use FTL's own DAC you plug into the parallel port. This may also be the protection device. It's been in development for a long time. Chaos Strikes Back The sequel to Dungeon Master, it is planned for the PC and will continue the storyline of the first. Because so much of the development investment will occur on DM, Chaos Strikes Back SHOULD be out quicker than it took for the first. GAMEARTS Silpheed 2 There was a rumor a long time ago that Sierra was going to license a sequel to the first successful shoot'em up, Silpheed. Nothing has been heard of since, so this may be off. Stay tuned. Hari Kari Again, only a rumor, but there was some talk of this a while ago. Nothing since, and no idea what this "product" might be. GAMESTAR No new product plans at this time. (0*0*0*ԌGAMETEK Super Jeopardy Everybody knows what Jeopardy is, and this is no different, only with enhanced graphics and sound capabilities. American Gladiators Patterned after the FOX T.V. show of the same name, this "simulation" will pit you in several athletic events after the likes of Blade, Velvet, and Gemini. Sounds decent, but Gametek hasn't shown us much in the past. Vanna's Wheel of Fortune Also patterned exactly after the T.V. show, this will feature Vanna in better graphics, but the gameplay will stay the same. Ninja Gaiden II The first sure wasn't much to write home about, but from what I saw at CES, this is much better. It will feature 256 color graphics, a decent sound score, and enhanced play. The animation was quite smooth as you try to penetrate the secrets of Ashtar, the evil lord who controls Jaquio (?). Well, at least it looks good in the press kit! Kawasaki This is a motorcycling racing game (like you didn't figure that out for yourself). Should be in much better graphics resolutions than previous offerings. INFOCOM Leather Goddess of Phobos 2: Gas Pump Girls Wow! This one is definitely rated PG13. You have three voluptious babes working for you at a gas stations with ALL the right proportions. I don't know the storyline yet, but it uses a parserless interface and spectacular 256 color graphics (and I do mean GRAPHICS). INNERPRISE Sword of Sodan Supposed to be coming as a direct port from the Amiga with very large onscreen graphic characters. This hack'n slash scrolling action adventure should be very good, if it ever makes it to market. Mutant Warriors What can I say. Aliens are on the loose, you go shoot them. Novel idea. INTERPLAY Lord of the Rings II: The Two Towers Continuing in the tradition of the first, the Two Towers is the second in this series of three. You continue to control your party through the wilderness of Middle Earth while facing the expected foes of Orcs, Wolves, Wargs, and Oliphants. Lord Sauron and the evil wizard Saruman are after your ring of power. Automapping is included in this edition. ( 0*0*0*ԌCruise for a Corpse This project from Delphine Software appears to have hit the skids. Essentially a murder mystery set in the roaring '20s about a Cruise Ship, this will follow the same interface set in James Bond: The Stealth Affair. No word yet as to whether it will be cancelled or not. Star Trek: The 25th Anniversary This project, set to coincide with the release of the movie from Paramount. The features a Wing Commanderlike combat portion, as well as a space exploration and roleplaying elements. You will control phasers, photon torpedoes, shields, communications, and warp drive in realistic 3D space combat. Sounds like a winner. Dragon Wars II This is the longawaited sequel with an entirely new interface and design. It's likely it will use an 'Eye of the Beholder'type of interface. Bard's Tale Construction Set This is a nifty title for those that want to take the time to design your own dungeons and pitfalls for others to explore. This could create a whole new category of 'homegrown' games for many many others to enjoy. The dungeons and worlds can be as detail or as simple as you make them, with all the dragons, trapdoors, and all the other trimmings. Mean Time This is a Time Travel adventure game, but not similar to Future Wars which Interplay licensed from Delphine. No further storyline known at this time. Battlechess: CDROM This is the multimedia version of Battlechess with many, many more animations for the combat piece positions. The details of the motion, plus the terrific soundtrack and sound effects makes this a "musthave" for anyone with a CD player or contemplating getting one. Battlechess for Windows 3.0 Trying to capitalize on the new GUI interface of the year, Battlechess will run in a Window, all the while retaining the very humorous animations during a piece battle. Graphics will be device independent, so users with hires. Windows drivers should fare better than ones with only 16 color drivers. Checkmate for Windows 3.0 This is a strong contender into the chess market with not that many frills, but a very strong algorithm. Remarkably, it will be a Win 3.0 app. INTERSTEL Star Fleet III This is still in the rumor category, but it has been heard from several sources that it is being planned, with full bitmapped graphics this time, instead of the previous ASCII graphics. It will be very 'Empire'like, with conquest and exploration your whole motive. Utah Beach This war game will be a good graphical representation of one of the key battles of World War II off the coast of France. Being done first for the Mac, it will be ported over to the PC soon thereafter. This features over 50 different types of military units, 175 American units and 225 German units. It's very indepth as it considers air, naval, and engineer support,( 0*0*0* as well as weather and supply allocation. INTRACORP/CAPSTONE Home Alone This is an adventure game where you play Kevin and you must lay your traps for the burgulars to fall into to save your home. The graphics were not what I would call stateoftheart. The Taking of Beverly Hills Modelled after the movie coming out this Christmas, this 'DieHard' type of game will pit you against some urban terrorists set in, of all places, Beverly Hills. KOEI Romance of the Three Kingdoms II As one general out of 350, you must try to beat out all your enemies as you struggle to control ancient China after the crumbling of the Han Dynasty of China. This is a very strategic war game that nobody but Koei could produce. If you're into alliancebuilding, strategic war gaming, then this title is for you. Liberty or Death This is Koei's first strategy game outside of the far east, and they have chosen to model the heart of the American Revolution. You will relive the struggle between the tyrannical British rule and the colonists determined to gain their independence. As the revolution unfolds, you can take the side of the British under Cornwallis or the colonists under Washington as you manage all aspects of military command. L'Empereur Koei's first strategy game focusing on Western civilization. You go back to the turbulent time of the late 18th century and Napoleon and his troops are marching through Europe attempting to gain control of Europe and the Near East. You can live the life of Napoleon as he rises to power, starting out as a mere commander and eventually gaining respect as Emperor. Uncharted Waters This is Koei's first RPG adventure, where you take on the role of a great sea explorer during the time of the victory of the Spanish over the Ottoman Turkish empire. You can make a fortune in profitable trading or when you are greedy, resort to piracy and gambling. Your objective is to achieve great fam and wealth so that you may become a duke and request the hand of the princess in marriage. KONAMI Top Gun This is a headtohead dogfighting simulation that pits players in F18 Hornet's and F14 Tomcats against each other for pure dogfighting challenge. This is more of a splitscreen type of headtohead, so I'm not sure if it will go null modem, but I don't think so. You can fight in F14s or F18s against some decent MiG 23s. Team Suzuki No surprise here. A firstperson motorcycle racing game on any of 16 circuits( 0*0*0* over a full Grand Prix season. You can choose anything from 125cc with automatic gears and easy controls to 500cc with manual gears and faster speeds. You can save your position in a race and come back to it later too. Mission: Impossible This combination action/RPG/adventure game looks interesting. You must guide your Mission Impossible team through the city of San Francisco to collect clues and uncover a series of fatal accidents involving top political figures in the city. You choose your agents based on their talents and characteristics. Mapping is used throughout the city as you investigate warehouses, beach houses, apartments, estates, hotels, and malls. Champions Based on the pen and paper game, Champions, the computer game is a RPG based on stories rather than wandering around on a map. You go from ineresting event to interesting event that leaves out the boring repetitive moves that take up most of your time in the mapbased game. Superheros battle each other in this interactionbased game, and the graphics are quite stunning. You can see all the action from each character. You also have complete character generation control. Cadaver Originally slated to come through Spectrum Holobyte, this is an adventure/explorer type of game where you must head in the castle dungeons to seek fame, fortune, and glory. Interesting 3/4 overhead view for the game play. Should have good sound support as well. Baseball Card Data Disks There are two sets of these with their respective five year histories starting in 1980. For card collectors, these are terrific addons to your collections. Space Wrecked A space ship commander sends an S.O.S. to earth urging immediate assistant after a light speed jump goes awry. You must go and rescue and explore the situation. All systems have failed for the commander and alien life forms are threatening the crew. You must explore the 20 ships in the fleet, return all systems to 80%, capture the aliens, and steer the ships back to earth. Ninja Turtles Arcade Pretty simple concept. Save April O'Neil. In order to get to her and Shredder, you must defeat 7 levels of foot soldiers with your favorite weapons. You can have two players playing simultaneously too. This is based on the original coinop and NES game. Ninja Turtles Adventure Go out on a mission to save Manhattan from crime block by block. You must search for clues and fight crime wherever it appears. Automapping, inventories, character attributes are all present. You can go ona mission or perfect your Ninja fighting skills during practice. Simpson's Arcade Based on the coinop game, as the Simpsons clan you must rescue baby Maggie from the thieves/kidnappers in pursuit of a stolen diamond. Using household items, you fend off the thieves and rescue Maggie. Simpson's Adventure: Bart Simpson's House of Wierdness Bart's banned to the bedroom until he learns to "act like a human being." To escape his confinement, he has three paths to freedom. The hallway door, closet door, and bedroom window must be explored to find( 0*0*0* essential cool items to transform himself into Bartman: Avenger of evil. Bloodwych Become a member of a secret order of psychic Mages in this RPG. You must find and destroy the evil wizard Zendick who is hiding in a tower in an ancient city. You must recruit help and gather items in order to find Zendick and banish him to the realm of chaos. Predator 2 U.S. release of a Euro product that is essentially a 3D shoot'em up in search of the ultimate hunter. Roller Babes Basically Roller Derby with traps, hazards, and gorgeous babes trying to rough you up. Sounds like my kind of game! These are not normal roller skates though. They are jetpropelled rocket skaters, plus the game includes league play, statistics, and very offthewall announcers. Speedball 2 This is a futuristic sports game that combines basketball and hockey with teams made of steel and speed! This is a serious action game that features two divisions, 16 professional squads, double playfields, electrobounce(?) and legalized weaponry. Ambulance drones will come out and drag you off the field when you're injured. Player attributes include attack, defense, speed, throwing, stomping, energy, and aggression. The Killing Cloud Set in 1997, the world is covered by a deadly 100 foot thick toxic cloud. As a member of the SFPD, you must transport survivors to safety above the cloud and gain information on the Black Angels, who are hungry for power and have info on the mystery of this cloud. Very visual. Riders of Rohan Set in Tolkien's Middle Earth, you command the elite calvary of Rohan as the Riders battle to save their lush green land from the forces of darkness and rescue the Hobbits from a fate worse than death (insurance salesman??). Back to the Future 3 Basically the U.S. release of the Euro release where as McFly and Doc Brown you must help return everybody to their own time and make all well in the world again. You encounter a buckboard chase, a shooting gallery, pie throwers, and a train chase. LIVE STUDIOS Dream Web Supposedly an action/adventure game, but no details are known at this time. LUCASFILMS Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe Just out now, you can probably recognize this as one of the finest flight simulations available to date. It very accurately models the WW2 era planes and missions and should not be missed. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Unique in that it doesn't follow a movie script, but Indy( 0*0*0* takes on new Nazi enemies (of course) in uncovering the secret of Atlantis and a material supposedly held there that would affect the course of the war if gotten into the wrong hands. This game is unique in that based on which puzzles/choices you make the game will adjust it's type of challenge, it can be pure puzzle solving, arcade like, or maze exploring. The Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge At the end of the first installment, Guy triumphs over LeChuck, but "Chuckie's back" and with a vengeance. You have various plot branches to explore in this one. Secret Weapons Mission Disks Nothing much to say here, just another disk of missions to complete with SWOTL. MAXIS SimAnt You conquered city building and earth building, now let's see how well you can do in your own backyard. You're an Ant! You belong to a colony, and there's a competing colony trying to wipe you out. Your objective? Get into the house where all the "Motts" are; an unlimited supply of food! Watch out for the dog and the lawn mower though. Lots of fun! SimCity 2 Not much in the way of detail for this yet, but it will add a tremendous amount of depth to an already complete game. You will have to manage things like water supply, sewage, more detail being applied to things like transportation systems, etc. Should fully utilize sound boards this time around too. Simcity/CDROM This will be a multimedia version of the first Simcity with a lot more scenarios, sounds, graphics, and a much greater appeal to people who have alread played the first. Simcity for Windows 3.0 Yes, while you're calculating your Excel spreadsheet, you can tax your citizens and build new power plants and airports. Fully utilizing the Windows interface, this will make using this program a lot easier to use. Robosport for Windows 3.0 Also utilizing the Win interface of pulldown menus, this is a strategy/programming type of game where you have two competing robots in a citytype environment and you must "program" how you want your robot to do battle. NEW WORLD COMPUTING Might and Magic 3 Many people were wowed by the demo of this. It's a very aggressive new model for NWC. Brand new technology will blow you away such as fractalgenerated landscape and gouraud shaded polygons. Sounds funky, but all this translates into a game the likes of which we have never seen before. Wing Commander 2 Not much more needs to be said about this now. It's the longawaited sequel that will add many new ships to the arsenal. You've been framed and accused as a traitor and sent to a garbage scowl. You must work your way back up to clear your name and wipe out the kitties. Wing Commander Speech Accessory Disk For Soundblaster owners, this disk will add a significant amount of speech to Wing Commander 2. Without it, there's just a smattering of speech. Wing Commander 2 Special Ops disk #1 This is the equivalent of the secret missions disk for wing commander. We don't know about the story line for this, but it should be great. Ultima 7 The latest in the saga takes place 200 years in the future of Britannia where the land sounds a lot like our inner cities today. Terrorists and mercenaries are trying to keep fear and anarchy reigning over the land, and your job is to thwart them. "Paragon Golf" Not officially named yet, but they have committed that they are going to try to take on Links. Good luck! PSYGNOSIS Atominoes This isn't the strongest title on tap from Psygnosis, but it seems interesting. You must control the reaction of certain atoms to make the desired molecules. Jury is still out on this one. Armorgeddon Basically a ground and air assault game to try to find the missing pieces of a neutron bomb that will destroy the country. Very smooth scrolling graphics, but will have a good piece of competition from others. Coming over from the Amiga. Obitus A scrolling action/adventure/RPG game.?This is actually many different kinds of games all in one. You're lost and alone in a strange world and you must discover where you are, how you got there, and how you are going to get out. Lemmings Construction Set This is just what it says. It will allow you to create your own challenges to drive others nuts with. It greatly extends the life of Lemmings as many others can create new worlds for the Lemmings to deal with. QUANTUM QUALITY PRODUCTS The Perfect General This is one of the most comprehensive strategic and tactical battlefield simulations created to date. If you're into war games, this will be one for you. The Lost Admiral Similar in scope to Harpoon, TLA will be more of a fictional naval strategy game, rather than be based on true parts of the oceans. It will be widely accepted by Harpoon users though. RAW ENTERTAINMENT Space Inc. This is an outer space epic along the lines of Wing Commander, but with more emphasis on the characters and the role playing elements rather than the shoot'em up part of the game. Worlds at War An epic outerspace combat strategy game. READYSOFT Space Ace II: Borf's Revenge Borf's back trying to get even from his demise in the first in the series. Still the same quality of animation you saw in the first with full soundblaster support for all the digital effects. Guy Spy This is another in the horizontal scrollers that will be a followup to Wrath of the Demon. Basically, just arcade play with some twists. Escape from Singe's Castle This is the sequel to the original Dragon's Lair, NOT the sequel to Dragon's Lair II. It will feature more of the same animation Don Bluth and Readysoft are famous for. SIERRA ONLINE Space Quest I (new) A totally redone adventure (same storyline and puzzles) using the full 256(0*0*0* color palette and full sound board support. Jones in the Fast lane/CDROM This will be a full speech implementation of the original where all you got were balloon boxes. Everything will be talking in this one. Quest for Glory 3: Wages of War The third in the series will be taking place in the jungle (we think!) and you can still be a thief, a warrior, or a cleric (?). Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness Inasmuch as this is a 1993 product, not much is known at this point. Castle of Dr. Brain This is an intriguing title where you are trying to become an apprentice to the famous Dr. Brain. To achieve this, you must pass a number of puzzle/logic problems and get further into the castle until you reach Dr. Brain. Laura Bow II:The Dagger of Amon Ra Second in the Colonel's Bequest series, we don't know anything about this next in the series yet. Police Quest III: The Kindred The graphics (as many have seen in the demo) are absolutely stunning; perhaps the best in the Sierra series yet. As Sonny Bonds, you must try to solve the attempted murder of your wife and put an end to a crime spree in Lyton. Conquest of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood You will play Robin of Locksley in this adventure (NOT patterned after the movie) and try to save your king, Richard the Lionhearted from traitorous influences, all the while trying to outfox the evil Sherrif of Nottingham. King's Quest V/CDROM Same game as the disk version, but with full spoken speech throughout. Leisure Suit Larry V: Passionate Patty does a Little Undercover Work This is our favorite nerd, Larry Laffer teamed up with his woman Passionate Patty trying to uncover certain bad elements in the porn industry (unless they're pulling our leg!) and trying to figure out what happened to the 4th LSL adventure. Hoyles Book of Games: Vol. 3 In this edition, you can play backgammon, cribbage, dominoes, snakes and ladders, and a few others. Laffer Utilities Larry is back with totally useless programs that will generally lower productivity across the board. Funny fax sheets, a joke database, plus programs to run your office pool are included. Mixed Up Fairy Tales Several of your favorite kid's fairy tales are presented in nice 256 color graphics. This will be a favorite for kids. Ecoquest I: The Search for Cetus Help attack environmental problems with your friend(0*0*0* dolphin, Delphineus. You get to attack drifting fishing nets, toxic wastes, oil spill, etc. Very educational. King's Quest VI No storyline published yet. "Codename: Iceman Sequel" Jim Walls will be attacking this when his Police Quest III is done. No idea what the storyline will be. Space Quest IV/CDROM Same game as the disk version with full speech. SIMSYSTEMS Scenario Construction Set For those that have gotten into the Fireteam 2200, this program will allow you to create your own missions for the strategy game. "Fantasy MultiPlayer Game" SimSystems has hinted that they are working on a fantasy multiplayer game that will be played over a network. No further details. SIR TECH SOFTWARE Crusaders of the Dark Savant For Wizardy lovers, this will be the richest offering so far BY far. It will feature FULL 256 color graphics, FULL sound support, and the richness of the storyline that we've all come to expect from SirTech. As we learn more about the storyline, we'll let you know here. SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS Life & Death III: The Emergency Room This is very unconfirmed, but I've heard rumors about this. It is basically a trauma room simulation where you must react to stimuli of injured patients. Good be interesting. Degeneration Saw the demo of this out a while back, and it's basically a "shoot'em up and go exploring" game. Paperboy II A sequel to the first with changes in the graphics and sounds, but the same general game play. Captive No information as of yet. Chessmaster 2400 (3000) I've heard this called both. It will be the next generation program for the Chessmaster camp. More bells and whistles I'm told, with improved graphics and options. (0*0*0*ԌSPECTRUM HOLOBYTE Avenger A10 The second in line for the Electronic Battlefield series. You will fly the infamous A10 Tank Killer in detailed missions, individually or connected into Falcon 3.0 to fly cooperative missions. Expect the best for this one. AH64 Attack Chopper The third in line for the EBS. There hasn't yet been a very realistic helicopter game put out that accurately models the flight and control of the Apache (or any other helicopter for that matter), but this one should be true to life. It will feature very realistic controls included rudder, collective, and tail rotor controls, plus be connected into Falcon 3.0 and Avenger A10. Falcon 3.0 Not much more to be said about this. Probably the most anticipated flight simulator to come out this year. It will very accurately model the flight characteristics of the F16 fighting Falcon. There is support for a complex flight model which will require the use of a math coprocessor. You will fight in several different theaters of war. This game is incredibly realistic and detailed. Anyone with a remote interest in flying will die to get this. Wordtris The fourth in the 'tris' line, you are playing with letters falling from the sky now, and you try to place them and form words. The demo looked very promising. Crisis in the Kremlin Let's see if you can do better than Gorbachev did! You get your chance to take the Soviet Union into the 21st century and into Perestroika. Economic and political rivals will be your obstacles along the way. Strangly, humor is present throughout the game. Race Drivin' Sequel to the successful "Hard Drivin'", "Stunts", and "Stunt Driver", this will be more of the same with some extra graphic and sound bells and whistles. Super Tetris A remake of the original with improved graphics, sounds, and backdrops. It's fundamentally the same game with a few extra twists thrown in. Sphere of Influence Here you play the global leader trying to balance sociology, economics, natural disasters, and all other facets of civilization. Kind of a 'heady' Civilization. More of a cross between SimCity on a global scale and "Guns and Butter". Red Phoenix Supposedly patterned after Larry Bond's book of the same name. No further information at this time. Reach for the Skies A Mirrorsoft production being developed in the U.K., and brought over here by Spectrum Holobyte. It's basically a "Battle of Britain" type of flight simulator. The initial reaction and demos were quite favorable. It will have a tought time going up against "Luftwaffe" though. Tank 2.0 The fourth (last?) in the EBS. This will be a major rewrite of the Tank game Spectrum Holobyte put out a year ago, or so. It will also integrate into missions of Falcon 3.0, Avenger A10, and AH64 for full battlefield experience.(0*0*0*ԌSPORTTIME Horse Racing: Jockey Competition This is supposed to be an addon module for the Omniplay Horse Racing game that puts you right in the saddle itself while you race around famous racetracks. Basketball: Pro League Module This is another addon module that provides league capabilities for the NBA and the playoffs. Similar to the College addon module that was released some time ago. S.S.G. McArthur's War in Korea Another wargame from SSG, this one kind of sneaked up on us, so we don't know much about it's capabilities yet, but if it's anything like Warlords, then it should be great. The title pretty much says what it's about. Carriers at War This is supposed to be a terrific game with great graphics and sound that depic the great naval battles our Carrier Battle groups have had in previous wars. It's a trueblue war game. S.S.I. No Greater Glory This is a wargame simulation of the American Civil War in typical SSI strategic fashion. Shadow Sorcerer Another D&D game with some dramatic twists. I'll get back to you on this. Larrusa Baseball Just released, it will be a significant challenge to Weaver/2. Pool's of Darkness Last in the Pool's of Radiance series, a great AD&D adventure. Western Front A new wargame from the SSI strategic group. Here you will fight the Nazi's along the front lines in France, Belgium, and Germany. War in the Pacific Another wargame from SSI, this will portray in strategic format the battles fought in the Pacific like Iwo Jim, Guadalcanal, and Midway. Eye of the Beholder/2:Legend of Dark Moon The next in the longawaited Legend series following the megahit EOTB. Significant enhancements will be present (such as an ENDING!) and group combat as well as towns to explore as well as the typical dungeons. Citadel of the Black Sun No information at this time. Likely to be an AD&D game. (0*0*0*ԌSUBLOGIC Great Britain Scenery This is the first in a major overhaul of all of the SubLOGIC scenery disks that they have offered to date. This threedisk set will have significantly more scenery and landmarks than previous offerings from SubLOGIC. Now, if they can ever just ship the thing! California Scenery Same as above, but modelling vitually all of California. FS:AFPT Flight Simulator: Air Force Primary Trainer This is NOT a combat simulation where you are up in the air trying to shoot down some "bogeys". You are involved in a serious simulation teaching you the flight dynamics of air combat. You will learn maneuvers, countermaneuvers, and all the while being tutored online by SubLOGIC assistants. SYMTUS Time Gates This is the next arcade/adventure in the Cybergenic Ranger series. Basically, this is a scrolling arcade game where you must shoot your way to success. TANAGER SOFTWARE The Secret of C.Y.P.H.E.R. Basically an adolescent edutainment game where the subject matter is the animal kingdom. Interesting in its approach. THREESIXTY Patriot A land version of "Harpoon". This will pit you in a very highlevel strategic role in control of the battle direction, but NOT anything to do with the tactics of the battlefield. It will be one of the first games from a major player that will support 640x480x256 colors. Megafortress My personal favorite, this is loaded to the hilt with controls, tactics, and a variety of roles you play in this "flight simulator". Based loosely on the book, Flight of the Old Dog by Dale Brown, you get to fly a very serious souped up B52 to take out a soviet laser battlestation, as well as other missions. Mission disks are planned too. Utah Beach This is an operationallevel game of the conflict on the Normandy coast of France between the 7th of June and the 2nd of July, 1944, centering around the American landing zone at Utah Beach. The game allows you to accurately recreate the events that followed the June 6th landing. B70 Valkyrie This is a title still up in the air, but it's still a possibility. Nothing certain is known, but it should have a similar storyline/missions to what will be offered in Megafortress. Stay tuned. (0*0*0*ԌBattleset #4 Indian Ocean/Persian Gulf The next area of the world for Harpooners. It will offer many new twists including scenarios in the gulf war and also U.S./Soviet confrontations in Cam Rahn Bay (maybe!). Battleset #5 Pacific Ocean This will not come out to work with the standard Harpoon program, but rather the Harpoon Gold (read below) version which will allow greater use of memory. Because of the vast expanse of the Pacific and 360's determination for accuracy and detail, typical maps and topography would not due. The program engine would need to be rewritten for this particular body of water. Harpoon Modem Module Many people have been asking 360 to develop a modem option so players could find the ultimate in A.I.; another human when battling in the seas. This is being developed, but may only work in the Gold edition. Harpoon Gold/2.0/386 Essentially, this is a protected mode version of Harpoon which will allow the developer to megabytes of memory space, instead of something to fit in 640K and shoehorn the rest into expanded. Using VCPI techniques, this version will be something akin to Lotus 3.0 in it's memory usage. There has also been talk that it may become a Windows 3.1 program, thereby giving it access to a linear address space. As far as features go, it will offer more depth in terms of sounds, improved graphics, and many more vehicles, but the general theme of the game will not change. There's some chance that a WW2 version (scenarios) may be included as well. Theater of War If you can think of combining chess, history, and wargaming strategy all into one game, then this would be it. You play on a 3D battlefield, somewhat akin to a chess board, but with weapons from all eras. You will fight with everything from a crossbow to a TOW missile. Very interesting looking graphics. 1992 Winter Olympics Just in time for the event at Albertville, France, this program will accurately put the player in the heat of competition in the following events: Downhill Ski Racing, Slalom Ski Racing, Ski Jumping, Luge, Bobsled, and Biathlon. The graphics look spectacular and the digitized sound and voices are very impressive too. Harpoon WWII Already mentioned above, it may be integrated into Harpoon Gold, but there may be an external module for this time period you can play with the original Harpoon version. TITUS SOFTWARE S.W.A.P. Some kind of strategy/reflex game, but no details at this time. Slider Same as above. No further information at this time. UBI SOFT (0*0*0*ԌPro Tennis Tour II A significant upgrade to the first where in this new version, you will actually have to train your player in certain skill areas. As he/she plays further, specific strenths are improved as so does your play. Doubles, womens players, and specific skills and weaknesses make this a worthy upgrade. Battle Isle A graphical strategic conquest game. In a world essentially composed of islands, each player must reinforce his position and improve it by capturing the most terrain possible. Somewhat similar in scope to Powermonger, but with much more modern weaponry, factories, and transport. Islands are not approachable on all sides. Often, reefs and mountains make a landing impossible. There is plenty to explore with this title. U.S. GOLD The Godfather A very graphic adventure that portrays the saga of the three successful movies. I've been told the violence is very graphic and gory. Could be interesting. Murder A mystery "whodunnit" adventure where you are the detective and must solve the almost infinite variety of crimes and murders. You only have 2 hours to solve the crime. Cybercon III A game similar in scope to Corporation from Virgin games, this is a little less polished, but nonetheless an interesting approach. A supercomputer has gone berserk, taken control of everything, and you must go in and disconnect it. VGA and Adlib/Roland support, but not much else to get excited about. VELOCITY DEVELOPMENT Jetfighter II Mission Disks This very small company will be extending the life of Jetfighter 2 with more addon missions to keep you busy in the air. Jetfighter III Already announced, this new version will FINALLY get us out of California and into some reallife hotspots, like the Persian Gulf. They will also be adding some serious and realistic airtoground weapons to make up for the dumb iron bombs only contained on the ATF. Finally. VIRGIN GAMES The Magnetic Scrolls Collection A collection of 3 games from a few years ago brought into the wonderful interface first shown in the game, Wonderland. They will be Fish (you must fight off The Seven Deadly Fins....I love it!), Guild of Thieves, and Corruption. Corporation Already released in the U.K., this is a great firstperson perspective scrolling adventure where you must make your way through a building to destroy the mutant robot that has taken control and is the ultimate killing machine.(0*0*0*ԌSpace Shuttle A very comprehensive and accurate modelling of NASA's space shuttle program. You will see incredible renderings of detailed instrumentation, with functional panels that must be controlled accurately for mission success. You will launch, deploy satellites, retrieve and repair satellites, and reentry and land the shuttle. Very sophisticated simulator. Magnetic Scrolls "First Person" There's a rumor that the Magnetic Scrolls are working on an adventure similiar in look and feel to Eye of the Beholder, but using their new windowing interface as shown in Wonderland. Stay tuned. Thunderhawk It's 1995 and you've been selected to fly the new AH73 Thunderhawk. It's a very advanced helicopter simulation with tremendous controls and weaponry. Over 60 missions to fly in plus a real world environment with other locations and characters that respond to your actions. Cybernet If anyone remembers the movie TRON, then you'll remember the light cycles racing scene. This game is a multimedia experience of the same. you'll pilot your vehicle through the mazes in first person perspective. Looks to be great fun. Conan the Cimmerian Conan as a young boy has seen his village plundered by Thoth Anon and he (you) vow revenge. You have no skills yet, so along the way to you will meet the town of Hyborea and learn skills from them, including your famous sword skills. This game is a combination hack'n slash / adventure game. WESSON INTERNATIONAL Tower Sim With the success of Tracon II, Wesson has turned to the tower on the airport ground for their next project. Tower will put you behind the radar screen to control the landing, taking off, and taxiing of aircraft at major airports. It can be tied into Tracon so you hand off and receive aircraft from other players as well. Can also be tied into Flight Simulator. You get "out the tower window" views as well as the expected radar screen views. Race to Mars A very detailed simulation where you must manage all aspects of a major expedition to the surface of Mars to set up an encampment there. Excrutiatingly detailed is the plan here. Tracon III An improvement over the first in that full digitized sound support from the Soundblaster is expected as well as improvements and variations in the graphic screens are also included. AWACS Sim Unconfirmed at this point, but Wesson is still interested in doing this project over a major battlefield. More details later. XOR CORP (0*0*0*ԌNFL Challenge 3.0 Not different on the field in terms of graphics, but a significant upgrade in the logic engine itself. Weather, home field advantage, and other factors are now part of the equation with 1991 updated teams. NFL Challenge Teams Disk 1991 Updated teams for this season of players who made the cut and are playing this year. Greatest Teams Disk The '88 Niners, the '79 Steelers and other great teams of the past can play each other in an NFL Challenge match. All Star Disk Pick the greatest players of all time at each position, put them on a "team", and let them battle in a AllTime Pro Bowl type of game. College Alumni Disk Take great players and put them back on their college team and see how they would fare against other college teams of that time. College Disk Today's college players on today's college teams can now do battle in NFL Challenge. NFL Challenge CDI While maybe not too interesting for today's gamers, one side of the table bets that the CDI format will be a very successful game platform and XOR is bringing a very graphical NFL challenge to this format that will help it succeed. Basically, this will be interactive T.V. football.
