AMOSPro Development FAQ

If you are concerned with the future of the AMOS programming language, then why not take the time to fill in this small information page, which contains various questions on what you would like to see in any future update that AMOS may undergo. These answers will then be forwarded onto any person who shall undergo the task in the future.

The information will also be kept at easy reach for those who wish to develop new extensions, as they cannot develop new ideas, unless they have access to what the public want to see in an extension. The whole process should only take a couple of minutes, and then hit the SUBMIT button at the end of the page to send it all to me.

What kind of Amiga do you own?

AMOS has a large number of different extensions available to add to its ever-increasing number of commands. Please highlight any of the extensions that you use on a regular basis.

Please compare AMOS to any other programming language you have used on the amiga, and give some information on why you think it may be better/worse than another language. Please not there is another form later on for you to comment on Improvements and additions
If AMOS is ever updated in the future, it will only be compatible on Workbench version 2.0 and upwards, mainly because of the fact that It will probably have lots of GUI functions, and most of the ASL/REQ functions needs at least Kickstart 2 to run.

Everybody knows that AMOS is not too system friendly when it comes to doing specific tasks, like fast calculations, complex GUI interfaces and gadgets, and the most common complaint, the fact that it cannot display AGA graphics, or promote its own screenmodes.

Below this paragraph is a dialogue box. In it, I would like you to explain in as much detail as you can, some, or all, of the things you would like to see in a new version of AMOS, or you would like to see improved. For example, I would like to see the removal of "Amos" screens, and the introduction of Public screens, which can be available like a standard Workbench screen, or be Customized just for a particlular game or program. This would give the program the chance to be able to use various screenmodes, and be able to use faster GFX routines, and of course, AGA. Plus, if you are a regular user of an Extension of some kind, and you know you couldn't live without it, explain which of its commands you would like to see in the Main AMOS executable. Alternatively, if you woant to see the development of a brand new AMOS extension, explain what you would like it to do exactly. Please feel free to go into as much detail as you please.
